Was all good other than 1 night the staff on the door would not let me in the hotel for around 5 mins while I was outside with my takeaway order I picked up but I wouldent let this put me off as it was an all round good stay

This review has to be read with an understanding that there are very few hotel options in Barnsley. I’ve previously used the Holiday Inn, which is very tired, old and in need of refurbishment. Hence, I booked this hotel.
The room rate was excellent, check in was superb and my room was basic but super clean. I especially liked the walk in shower with an amazingly non slip floor. The noise of the motorway will bother some guests but it was fine for me.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate. The WiFi is great and there are tables at which one can work with plugs.
The reason for the imperfect score is simply the evening food. It’s shocking! It’s all brought in and cook chill. Many of the dishes are exactly the same as those offered by Holiday Inn Express. How difficult is it to create a decent jacket potato? Apparently, it’s very difficult!
I would stay here again but would get take-out or eat elsewhere. This isn’t convenient for busy business travelers but maybe that’s not the target market.
