Outstanding service by Geronimo
Pros:

I always enjoy coming to Allegria for breakfast or grab a bite and drinks and this visit was no exception. Geronimo at Atlántica restaurant was amazing—so welcoming, kind, and attentive. He made the experience even more enjoyable with his outstanding service. The ambiance at Allegria is always relaxing and inviting, making it one of my favorite local spots. Highly recommend for a great breakfast and excellent hospitality!

14 Reasons Why Not
Pros:

I did not have a good trip at the Allegria. Let me count the ways:
1) when I booked the trip (with my wife and toddler), I asked if they offered cribs and they said yes. So, I requested one. A few days before my trip, I confirmed the crib. The morning of the trip, they send you a "pre check-in" email, which i responded to and included my crib request... That's three times - only to arrive and find no crib. When we asked about it, we were told, "we don't give cribs for this type of room... i think it might be a fire hazard." That turned out to be false, and after asking four times, we got the crib.
2) When they delivered the crib, they failed to remove the giant luggage trolley, meaning I had to maneuver it around the beds and the crib, which was now between it and the door.
3) While the wi-fi was adequate for basic web surfing and email checking, when we tried to even watch a YouTube video, we were met with such lag that it was effectively impossible.
4) When you book the hotel (and pay the resort fee), part of what you are paying for is an entitlement to two beach passes, two beach chairs and two beach towels (no beach umbrellas, but they will sell you one), but, you have to get these things from the "beach hut" which closes early evening. What that means is that if you want to watch the sunset on the beach, you're gonna be doing it without the beach chairs you've paid for.
5) The exit/entrance to the beach is only opened from the outside via your keycard. At least, ostensibly. It was not working during our stay, forcing us to walk from the beach around the whole building to the front.
6) Upon returning with a fussy toddler, I was stopped by the front desk clerk - right as one of the only two elevators arrived - so he could spend five minutes asking me to review him highly. In the meantime, the elevators closed and went back upstairs, forcing me to wait (again - fussy toddler) for them to reappear... astonishing lack of social awareness.
7) The closet and mini fridge area is not directly on the floor - it's on a platform, which is an enormous trip hazard when going to or from the bathroom in the dark - or a toe-stub hazard.
8) When I called for room service (a service they advertise), I was told they could not take my order over the phone, I had to do it online, but there's no way via the website. It turns out you have to scan a QR code that is supposed to be found in the room. My room did not have any such code. I was able to find a QR code by which you could tip the staff, but that was of no use in this situation. When I called the restaurant back to tell them I had no such code, they took my order over the phone. Why couldn't they do that initially?
9) We went to use the pool in the morning before rain that was expected later in the day. We asked for five towels - one for each of the two loungers we'd sit on and then one for my wife, my daughter and me. We were told they didn't have five towels due to the expected rain. It seems to me that if they expected rain, and therefore not a whole lot of pool patrons, they'd have more towels, not fewer, but oh well. They gave us three towels.
10) One towel had what I hope to god was tomato sauce stains on it. Although, I don't know who's eating tomato sauce by the pool.
11) I called the front desk to ask for the valets number. They don't have one.
12) I asked the front desk if they could take my name, room number and valet ticket number and ask the valet to get my car, as I was on my way down. No. They could not, and did not.
13) The valet wanted me to go to the front desk to get a stamp on my ticket to ensure I'd paid before retrieving my car. I told him I had two more nights at the hotel, and to please get my car. He did, but reluctantly and appeared visibly annoyed.
14) The shower floor was visibly dirty. It had obviously been "cleaned," but the person who mopped or wiped the shower floor pushed all the dirt to one end of the shower, so a line of dirt near the edge of the shower pan remained visible.

This was a one-star experience. The second star is for the views at the restaurant and bar, which were great. The food was fine. The pool was nice and comfortable, and the beach/boardwalk access can't be beat. When you don't have sufficient competition, you can grow complacent and quality can deteriorate. That's what happened here. The experience was subpar, and that is generous.

Outstanding Employee
Pros:

We had the most amazing time at the Allegria Hotel. Besides being a beautiful location and having a wonderful view from our room, one employee stood out both days we were there. Her name is Jeannette and not only was she so nice to your guest but super kind and thoughtful. Honestly she made our experience at the hotel even better with personality. We definitely will be back to visit. Thank you! Mason’s

Great little trip
Pros:

Sweet trip with my man after girls get together got cancelled due to illness. The beach there is fabulous enhanced by Nelly who supplies you with your beach needs. Pool is small but great views and waiter service. Too bad about the 100 Marco/Polo screams. Patti at the restaurant is lovely and so helpful. We had a ball!

Nice hotel, but overpriced
Pros:

This is a nice large and modern hotel, set on the beachfront/boardwalk. There are several restaurants and shops in the near vicinity. The gym facilities are fairly basic, but enough to get in both cardio and weight workouts.

Cons:

The added daily resort tax, along with all the additional city taxes etc, make this an expensive option to stay at (as is most of New York now). The attached bike rental shop is exhorbitantly priced, at USD100 per day for a single speed beach cruiser. Do your research and book from one of the other local alternatives - we got our rental bikes for 1/4 of the price. The little attached hotel mini market is also exhorbitantly priced for what it offers. Crazy prices that don't make us want to come back.

Nice hotel, bad service
Pros:

Nice hotel, completely understaffed. It's clear the staff are overworked - just mention it to them - and they'll tell you all about it. Long lines, no towels, hard to get service if anything goes wrong.

Really nice spot in Long Beach – but overpriced.
Pros:

We had a great couple of nights at the Hotel Allegria. It has a beautiful location right on the beach with great views out to the sea if you’re lucky enough to have a sea-facing room. There are a few good restaurants just up on the boardwalk, and many more a 10-min walk away in the commercial district. Our room was nice, spacious, bright, with a great sea view. It was disappointing that the windows didn’t open though. Everything was clean, modern and comfortable and we had a great sleep. We had a good little bar fridge in the room and the Wifi internet worked great. There is a little shop in the lobby but super expensive!! We bought goods for around one-quarter the price at the local supermarket. There is also a bike rental service on site – also exorbitantly expensive - $100/day for a very basic beach cruiser!! We rented some similar beach cruisers from Long Beach Board for only $25/day, and they delivered and picked up right from the hotel. We didn’t eat any meals from the hotel due to the high prices, double what you pay outside the hotel. The gym was OK, a bit small but it has some reasonably good equipment in there, enough to do full-body weight workouts. Overall we had a great stay but would recommend that you go outside the hotel for all other food and services – they really try to rip off the guests.

Sharon is outstanding- thank you!
Pros:

We stayed at The Allegria while in town for several days while our dog was having surgery with a veterinary specialist in the area. From the moment we arrived, Sharon was friendly, accommodating and highly attentive to our needs. She ensured that every aspect of what we needed was handed before we could ask.
If Sharon is the measure of how The Allegria choose personnel to represent them, Allegria’s future is very bright.

Sincerest gratitude,
Kelley
