location was perfect. entertainment was next door every evening. chris who works the kitchen for breakfast was great. a very upbeat guy who had music playing and put out hot food. we seen dolphins everyday from our balcony
only 1 elevator working for 12 floors we were on 8th so didnt want to take stairs each time we waited for 10 to 15 mins in the afternoons
The location is right on the beach. Every room has a balcony facing the beach, and the summer fireworks are easily seen from the balcony.
The entire hotel has missed a lot of maintenance. One (out of two) elevators is broken, and management doesn't have plans to fix it. The door leading to the beach sometimes didn't work, and even our room door had broken parts of the lock (a missing piece on the putside, wires sticking out on the inside, etc...). The lobby, stairwell, and rooms were filthy, and we had to climb 8 flights of stairs multiple times, when the wait for the elevator was too long. The room was very dirty, with stains and splatters all over the place. I don't think anything is cleaned in those rooms except the bedding; certainly the surfaces are not even wiped as we found toenails and sea shells on the kitchen counter. One perk of this hotel was free breakfast, but they ran out of most of the items by 8:30 and had to wait for someone at the front desk to take the one elevator up to the 4th floor to bring more food and coffee. The staff were all very nice and constantly apologizing about issues; they also seemed severely understaffed with only 1 person at the front desk and 1 person at breakfast. Finally, this hotel is right next to the 24th street park, which hosts a lot of events. We knew this going in, so we expected loud music, but we didn't not expect that the noise would literally shake the building. You can wear earplugs to block the sound, but your bed is still going to shake until the concerts end every night.
Beach front, balcony facing the ocean and the one staff member doing the continental breakfast, breakfast was good and staff was friendly and very apologetic for the wait.
Only 1 working elevator, only 2 towels for 3 people, broken ice machines, food left on the floor after house keeping, mildew on the caulking around and in the shower, chipping paint from the metal doors, room temperature was set at 86 when we first arrived.
The place is a dump. Only one elevator works and it's a big hotel. Be prepared to use the stairs. Entering the room you notice the carpeting is gritty with sand. Oh no room servuse is provided unless you request it. No blankets for beds, one roll of toilet paper in a room for 4. If you need anything you go to the front desk they stuff all your needs into a plastic bag and you lug it to your room. Evertday as needed. Doors to balcony are all rusted and difficult to open and close.
The view and staff
Elevator not working
Start out with the good. It is an aged budget-priced oceanfront property in need of serious renovation, but the rooms are very clean and with all rooms being suites, the extra room is appreciated. The complimentary breakfast is exceptional when compared to most hotel breakfasts. Chris the cook is upbeat, takes pride in his food and makes for a pleasant morning experience.
The Bad---only one of the two elevators is working and it has been like that for several weeks. Per one employee, the cable snapped and they are required to shut down the one that is working to fix it. Given the time of year, that is not going to happen any time soon. VERY long waits (10 minutes or more) were common. Tip---press both the up and down buttons and just get on even if you are going in the wrong direction for a few floors. By doing so, you will avoid the risk of it being full when it finally gets to your floor in the direction you are going. Or just take the stairs.
As to toiletries , bring your own or go across the street to the Walgreens and buy your own. We received two mini bars of soap and a half full hotel- size bottle of shampoo. Since no housekeeping is provided for the first three nights, you will have to get what you need at the desk. There were 4 hangars in the closet, fortunately I always travel with foldable travel hangers.
The unacceptable. We got there at 4, and our room was not ready to about 6:15 pm. Which seems to be the norm rather than the exception. While the staff was apologetic, after travelling for 7 hours in a car with young kids, the last thing you want to do is sit in a lobby for another 2 hours. Completely unacceptable because it is a management issue which can easily be fixed. There is not enough housekeeping staff to meet the demand.
Supposedly, renovations are happening in the fall.
Breakfast is good .nice ocean view.
No phone number on the front desk to ask for bed sheets and blanket for the sofa bed.we have to go to the desk to ask.cracked tiles with hole near the beach front door.looks dirty around and the elevator
We chose this hotel because of the location, the beach view and the price, and we weren’t disappointed. The location is fantastic, about halfway between the Neptune statue and the pier and right on the boardwalk. The view from the balcony and the access to the beach were perfect. We weren’t disappointed so pleasantly surprised that right next to the hotel was an outdoor stage, and there was live music each evening. We could hear it and see if from the pool. Speaking of the pool, we loved it. The atmosphere was great, and it offered such a nice view of the city and Atlantic Ave. The thing that surprised us most about the hotel was how FANTASTIC the staff was. Everyone was so kind, so helpful, and so cheerful. They really improved the stay by being so wonderful. The hotel could use some updates. It’s a little old and rusty, but the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I absolutely recommend this for anyone who doesn’t need luxury but wants a comfortable stay in a perfect location with an amazing staff.
Location was good
Dirty and the elevator didn’t work one day and one of the two elevators were broken every day.
The location was great. Staff were all super nice. The rooms themselves were set up great but could use a good deep cleaning.
Elevators were not working.
People broke into the pool past 10pm and vandalized it. No staff monitored.
Walkways were dirty.
You had to request cleaning and clean towels even though we stayed a full week.
The only good thing was the view and the mediocre breakfast
Only 1 elevator worked. It was nearly 6pm before a room was ready for me even though I was approved for a 4pm check in and I got there even earlier. And there were still people waiting behind me! They had a reservation all screwed up and tried to blame it on booking.com when everyone could clearly see that the staff had no clue what they were doing. They were 1/2 thru my check in and stopped to help another guest instead of finishing mine. I had to go back down the ONLY working elevator from the 10th floor because my key cards didn’t work. This happened to at least 3 other guests just while I was waiting. Neither of my balcony doors locked properly so I had to put chairs up against them to feel safe for the night. Neither of the tv’s worked. They both turned on but no matter what you tried to do it kept coming up “no signal”. And the most disgusting part- there was someone else’s food still in the microwave 🤮 NEVER AGAIN!!!
Hotel is pretty run down so don’t expect a lot. There was hair all over our room and shower door did not shut all the way so bathroom floor basically flooded. They were very short staffed with people cleaning rooms.
All that said, Chris, the cook for breakfast was amazing!!! He was so cheerful and fun. He made our experience so much better! Food tasted great, too!
I like the location directly on the beach and the kitchen staff
The hotel was horrible elevator was broke. I had to take the steps everywhere. The shower had tons of black mold everywhere. The steps concrete was crumbling. The breakfast food was terrible. Didn't get our room cleaned. Everyone was at the front desk with a issue. I tried to get a refund so we can go somewhere else. After all the complaints that was made they still wouldn't refund me.
N/A
Assign 1st. Room- bed unmade, after letting the front desk know, assign to another room. That room had no bath towels, had to go to the front desk to get towels and additional toilet paper.I also informed the front desk, that the TV in the living room was missing the remote control and not able to turn the TV on. I stayed in that room, because I couldn’t move to another room, too much to deal with.
Location only
Would not go here again. Room wasn’t easy on check in. Only bathroom was on 4th floor and it was not cleaned, smelled of urine/feces and toliet paper all on floor and no soap. The men’s bathroom didn’t have a stall door for toliet and was equally disgusting. The room was not cleaned. Bed linens were half on half off like the room was not even cleaned. Found old sunglasses, lip balm and other personal items in room. In addition no towels or toilet paper in rooms. Had to go call down to lobby and was told they would come by in a hour. Not enough staff working there and the ones that had to work there switched rooms but still had issues as new room had no towels, toilet paper, missing remote and things falling off walls. The door wouldn’t close behind you - key cards would work. Only 1 elevator working and no AC in elevator, felt like you were gonna pass out while in elevator. Took 20 min to wait for elevator and it stopped on every floor. No ice machine working in whole hotel. The stairwell smelled and was slippery. Anyone from beach could access hotel, as door didn’t even require key card access. Pool area was outdated, unclean with broken chairs. Balcony chairs in the rooms were filled with rust. Definitely would never stay here again. We didn’t even bother checking out the free breakfast. Could hear everything and anything that was happening beachfront on boardwalk, people fighting and arguing.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The free breakfast was good but only one guy was working and had a great attitude but alone he couldn't keep up with having all items ready for everyone
The staff at breakfast was the best very friendly and made you feel welcome each morning.
The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful.
The shower needs some attention. Had mildew around the inside shower.
