HL Club Playa Blanca

We were quite worried coming to this hotel after reading some mixed reviews but we’re so glad we did! The hotel is great, perfect family holiday. Clean. Always something to eat for a family of 5 and the entertainment team are fantastic. Lots to join in with and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff.

Gorgeous hotel, pool and entertainment team: Lots of activities to do round the pool during the day, cute little mini disco for the kids and fun entertainment on a night. The entertainment team are friendly and approachable all day 😀

The animation team have been really good, all the staff are friendly, chatty, helpful with lots going on for the kids and adults to get involved with.

First impressions weren’t great! Arrived 10pm ish, a very stern receptionist checked us in but stopped to speak to another guest and was quite rude. Then she told us off for not informing the hotel we’re with friends as they would have put us together. The toilets in the reception were awful. The walk to the rooms was almost in pitch black- no lights on but could spot the cockroaches and unfortunately there was one to greet us in the bathroom in our bungalow. We were given a key card for the safe but it wasn’t compatible with the safe- it needed an actual key. If I’m 100% honest I wanted to go home at that point!

The hotel grew on us- there were a lot of positives even after the awful first impressions. Overall the place needs a thorough update and communal areas need a deep clean. In our bungalow the sliding wardrobes came off the rails, the shower head was crap and the shower went off multiple times and also leaked. The door key cards were unreliable. The air con was great though!

The gardens were well maintained by staff but the outside area of the evening entertainment also requires some maintenance.

The food was great with themed cuisine each day and very little queue for drinks at the bar during the day and evening. All inclusive finished at 11pm.

Lanzarote is very windy and as a result there is a lot of litter around- if everyone did their bit and picked up their paper cups it wouldn’t be as bad!

There are 60+ cats living at this hotel. They’re cared for by a charity who come daily to feed them and check on them. They’re up to date with vaccinations and my daughter was delighted to name 2 kittens. Again people leave paper cups of water for the cats which are then left or blown everywhere.

There is a fantastic gym on site which is free to use as a guest at the hotel.

Location- it’s a 5 minute walk to the beach where the bars and restaurants are. The closest and most direct road is very poorly lit in the evening and must admit I didn’t feel safe on the first few walks.

There is a lovely market by the marina on Saturdays. That area is lovely! We went go karting which is next to the airport and also on the jet ski at the beach.

Just back from another amazing family holiday at HL Club Playa Blanca, and I honestly can’t recommend this place enough! This was our second visit, having stayed here around four years ago, and the difference and improvements since our last visit were absolutely incredible. We already had great memories from our first stay, but this time around the hotel completely exceeded our expectations.

First of all, the location is absolutely fantastic. It’s the perfect setting for a family holiday, and the villas were lovely — clean, comfortable, well maintained and exactly what you want when travelling with the family.

But the real standout for us this time was the food. WOW! The quality, variety and freshness were fantastic. Every day there was something different, and everything we tried was genuinely delicious. There was something for everyone, including homemade pizzas every day, amazing onion rings, fresh and good-quality meats, plenty of choice for the kids and adults, and so much variety that you never felt like you were eating the same thing twice. Even the all-inclusive soft drinks were a great touch, with full-fat Coke, Fanta and other proper branded drinks available — a small detail, but one that makes a difference!

A massive shoutout to the animation team, because they really are a credit to the hotel. Caesar in particular — what a guy! I hope he goes further within his career at Hl club playa Blanca and gets the recognition he deserves! He is an absolute legend and went above and beyond every single day to make sure everyone was having fun. The whole animation team were fantastic, incredibly friendly, energetic and always willing to get involved. You can genuinely see how much effort they put in to making people’s holidays memorable, and they deserve huge recognition for that.

The bar staff were also brilliant. Always friendly, hardworking and welcoming, even when they were clearly incredibly busy. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, and they always greeted you with a smile.

One thing that really stood out throughout our stay was just how clean and professionally run the whole place is. You can see the amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes from all the staff, and everyone seems to take real pride in what they do. From the cleaners and restaurant staff to the bar team and entertainment crew, everyone worked incredibly hard to make sure guests had a great experience.

After four years, we came back wondering whether it would live up to our memories — and honestly, it didn’t just live up to them, it surpassed them.

A huge thank you to the entire team at HL Club Playa Blanca for giving our family such a fantastic holiday. We’ve made some brilliant memories and genuinely didn’t want to leave!

We’ll definitely be back. Highly, highly recommended for families looking for a fantastic all-inclusive holiday. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Few points to make, the pool could do with an upgrade and definitely more sun loungers to be added.

I’ve been known to be quite fussy about holidays. Tending to find the hotels myself online or go with my immediate family.
I was a little nervous going to the HL Club as I hadn’t booked it (a friend did) so was expecting it not to be up to my (control freak) standards.

How wrong I was.

My immediate family holidays have always been 5* resorts (Sensatori hotels etc) which are always pretty impeccable.
The HL Club isn’t far off. If you’re looking for a good family holiday, good accommodation & location & good food I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

We traveled as a group of 10 (family & friends) with one of our party being in a wheelchair & 4 teenagers. We all had a really good experience for the 10 days we were there.

Whilst the food is not Michelin star it’s certainly very varied & tasty with no issues at all.

Accommodation is very good & I don’t think some of the photos I’ve seen do it justice.

The best part of the hotel (for me) was the gym. I’m a PT and have been for 20 years. Visited gyms all over the world & think this is one of the best I’ve been to. Fantastic setup with all you’d ever need to stay fit & healthy. No loud music, clean, attentive staff & beautiful views! Can’t fault it.

We will certainly be booking this hotel again.

Final point.
You’re always going to get poor reviews on any hotel. My advice is to give this one a go.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Not a fussy eater and never one to complain but food here is worst I’ve ever experienced in All Inclusive.

Breakfast was awful. Fresh tomatoes were off, hash browns were still frozen and pancakes soggy. Also no natural yogurt and cheese had flies all over it.

Dinner, didn’t even sit down. Walked out and went to a restaurant.

Lunch was average. Was able to get by on a bit of salad.

For the price I paid for this holiday I would expect more from the food. Just clean areas to put the food and fresh produce would be an improvement.

Second year coming and already booking our 3rd food and accommodation is spot on with friendly staff and great reps. Big shout out to Ceaser for making us feel so welcome once again.

We had read so many bad reviews about this place, especially on Facebook but we are so glad we didn’t cancel! What people need to understand that star ratings vary country to country. Having stayed at different resorts between 3* and 5* I would say that for the Canaries it deserves the 4*. Rooms cleaned every day except Sunday. Aircon worked great in the main bedroom, we got a fan for the kids room as no air con in there but that was no trouble for the reception team. We needed extra pillows as they only provide 1 per person but that was also no trouble at all. They accommodated our request for bungalows together and we got terraces with a sea view. Food above standard for an all inclusive, we were a group of 14 and none of us struggled to find a decent meal each day. All properly cooked and whilst not piping hot it was never cold. They did specials at lunchtime around the pool bar with pulled port and paella days. Drink selection fine and whilst paper cups were seen around the pool there wasn’t that many and it is purely down to the laziness of guests as there are plenty of bins around. Entertainment ok, we would have liked a bit more around the pool but the entertainment team were good. The restaurant was always clean and our plates taken away quickly. Staff always were friendly and accommodating. No sunbed wars, we came back after a boat trip and still got sunbeds. Still plenty around at 8.30am as well in decent spots. Couple of cockroaches around at night but if you come to the canaries you have to expect that. Sunbeds could do with a bit of a wash down but they are absolutely fine really and that’s just being picky. We all had a great holiday and would return. So glad we ignored the bad reviews, I would recommend this hotel for a decent, relatively cheap AI stay in August.

This is our second visit to the hotel, and I can honestly say we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. Ceaser from the entertainment team is fantastic and a real credit to the hotel. He’s always smiling, making the kids laugh, and getting everyone involved in the activities.

The food was good, the rooms were clean, and you really can’t complain considering the housekeeping team work so hard six days a week.

The pool was clean and a little cold when you first got in, but that was actually refreshing in the hot weather. There were always plenty of sunbeds available, whether you wanted to relax in the sun or the shade.

Overall, we’ve had another wonderful holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable!

Fantastic holiday, lovely location, accommodation perfect for families and food every day there was something suitable for everyone. Be creative entertainment team were amazing, so much energy and the children looked forward to all the games, activities, kids club and evening entertainment!

HONEST REVIEW

We are on our last day here, don’t read the negative reviews. I booked this as a little getaway for me and my daughter during the holidays so expected there to be a lot of kids, which yes there is but what do you expect in August. Although the pool area was busy it never seemed dangerously busy and we always got sunbeds, but me being an early bird probably helped in that. For me, and this is just a personal preference and I understand everyone is different, the thing this hotel is missing is a swim up bar. Food was plentiful, although I’m stilll not understanding the ‘cold tomato soup’ but I might be missing a treat here. Entertainment team is what makes this hotel. A new team took over during our stay and the whole vibe for me changed for the better. Marco (Italian guy) and Amy certainly know how to bring the energy and you can see they love their jobs, so a big thank you to them for making our stay very enjoyable. The management of the hotel should learn how to smile though as the staff are trying really hard.

Animation team is fantastic and gets the crowds to join in the activity in the pool and with the evening entertainment , the staff are friendly.

We were a family group of 10, with ages ranging from 8 to 74. The food at this hotel was very good, everyone found something they liked every day. Yes the drinks glasses are small, but this avoids too much waste. You can refill them! The bungalows are lovely, spacious and very quiet. Yes there are empty paper cups flying around at times in the pool and bar area but this is down to laziness of the guests not putting them in the multitude of bins that are around. One thing we did find was that the music in the pool area and entertainment area was far too loud, even the teenagers in our group agreed. At times there was loud music in the pool bar area and loud different music playing in the pool area. This did drive us bonkers, no need for this volume especially if the music is conflicting. An easy fix - turn it down!! Also there is no quiet area. The tiled area near the reception could be utilised as a quiet area with maybe sun beds; we noticed this area is cleaned everyday using a floor machine even though it’s not really used. We were at breakfast at 7.30am everyday and saw the numerous staff at work just tidying up and cleaning the areas so that the guests could enjoy the holiday. I must admit we walked down to Playa Dorada most days, which is a lovely beach with sun beds and umbrellas (€5 each item per day) and water sports. All the staff at HL Club work hard to make their guests’ holiday an enjoyable experience.

Caesar, from the animation team, was fantastic. He looked after the boys really well and put so much effort into every game we played.

Entertainment is amazing cesar was amazing would definitely go again. Lots of entertainment for kids and adults!

Location was great, near enough to amenities but quiet. About 10-15 minutes walk to the town, nearest beach and harbour.
For accommodation, we stayed in a 2 bed bungalow, which was just right for us: 2 adults and 2 children. Spacious and clean. Fresh towels most days and beds remade.
Pool area was good. 1 large pool and 1 slightly smaller pool. They could get crowded but we always enjoyed it and at certain times, it was not busy at all.
Great poolside bar and restaurant.
Themed food nightswith plenty of choice.
Staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly.
Great modern gym and modern, comfortable lobby area.
Some areas did look a bit tired and needed a little tlc but we did notice, they were doing up the tennis court.
All in all a great and relaxing stay. Thank you.
