Great location and a disappointment
Pros:

Cons:

In principle the studio looked like the photos.
However in reality, to us it was rather bare, “tired” & dated with some fixtures and fittings way past their best; see photos. Unfortunately this was rather off-putting.
There weren’t any toiletries. Having been travelling down here for the past six weeks, this has been the only property (of any kind) where toiletries haven’t been supplied. I feel that the two very small thin squares of guest soap provided, can’t count.
There is a pool but pool towels are not supplied, they need to be hired from reception. Indeed if any extra towels or linen is needed for the room, it has to be paid for.
The property is in a great location, the pool area is attractive and though not palatial, the studio we had was spacious and airy. But it needed some serious updating.
Other guests have had wonderful stays. Maybe there were other studios/apartments on the property that were a better standard. Maybe we’re picky.

Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at the Port Douglas Retreat! The location is fantastic—just a short walk into town, yet quiet and peaceful. Our room overlooked the pool area, which was especially beautiful in the evenings with the tiki torches lit—such a relaxing atmosphere. We really appreciated having a kitchenette, which made it easy to prepare our own meals and feel right at home. A great place to unwind and enjoy everything Port Douglas has to offer. Would definitely stay again!

Pros:

Excellent location, very nice owners and great apartment! The outdoor area was fantastic!

Cons:

The AC was a little old and not the most functional. Also the extra rental for the pool towels could have been included, but these are just two minor points. Overall still a great stay and would come back again!

Will be returning!

Stayed for 9 nights Dec/Jan.
The location was terrific short walk to everything. We stayed in a studio apartment overlooking the pool which was lovely, got lots of use out of the pool. Being a resort of studio apartments there were no children so it felt like an Adults Only resort but without the big price tag!
Managers David and Joyce were a pleasure to deal with, nothing was too much trouble.

Clean and convenient location
Pros:

The room was clean but a bit cramped. We used the kitchen daily though there was virtually no counter space to do prep work. The kitchen had adequate pots, pans, etc. I loved the pool - it had a great lay out with many surrounding trees to shade the hot sun. The location was perfect. It was close to the CBD, the grocery store, and the wharf. The shade car park was excellent and clean.

Cons:

The resort was older and could have done with a bit more attention to detail in cleaning the common areas. When we first used the shower, there was a nasty odour coming from the floor drain. It was likely due to not being used in a while since we stayed there in low season. I do think the drain was not vented properly. The room was a bit tight for space. There could have been a few wall hooks put up for hanging clothes. I appreciate small touches like a phone USB plug in beside the bed. We all have phones that need charging and a plug in is an inexpensive but convenient touch.

Little town oasis
Pros:

Pool was like a little oasis. Lovely tropical planting and lots of birds, despite having a good town location. Well designed. We had a ground floor apartment which was great.

Cons:

Didn't have an oven or air fryer, but no big deal hobs worked well.
