The property itself was satisfactory and generally met expectations. Given the price we paid, we were not expecting a five-star hotel experience, and we felt the accommodation offered reasonable value for money.
However, our experience with the reception manager was disappointing. There was a misunderstanding during our stay, and I openly acknowledge that we were at fault. We apologised multiple times—at least twenty times—in a calm, respectful, and sincere manner. While mistakes can happen on both sides, I believe that once a person accepts responsibility and apologises, the situation should be resolved professionally and respectfully.
Unfortunately, the manager's attitude remained confrontational and, in my view, came across as rude and discriminatory. Rather than helping to move past the issue, she appeared determined to belittle us, which made the interaction unnecessarily unpleasant. She did not appear to be in the standard staff uniform, leading me to believe she may have been the owner or held a senior position.
In the hospitality industry, guests should be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. Professionalism is demonstrated not when things go smoothly, but when staff handle difficult situations with empathy, dignity, and respect. Sadly, that was not our experience on this occasion.

Bed was uncomfortable, very noisy you could hear everything going on outside. Shower was absolutely horrible, shower head did not work very well at all only small stream of water. Not worth staying at a resort if only getting cereal for breakfast waste of time and money. Windows in bathrooms mouldy, towel rails peeling away, nothing looked after. Old dirty carpet just not pleasant
Often stay at the Lakeland Resort when passing through Taupo. Well located, with the Restaurant a bonus
Friendly staff, rooms were comfortable and very clean. We ate dinner in the restaraunt and food was good and well priced.
TV didnt work and the sky box was hanging of the wall. There was also renovations going on which we didnt know about so workmen were everywhere and seemed to be waiting for us to leave.
Clean and comfortable and good location with nice view. Great to have a restaurant on site so we didn’t need to go in to town to eat. Good range of food for both dinner and breakfast.

Great basic motel room, bed was very comfy, nice and clean and they provided a portacot for our baby which was perfect

Rooms were separated from the reception/main building so if you need to go for your breakfast, you hope that it will not rain; furniture/chair needs replacement, too old, seems like there's no wood at the bottom of the chair; no exhaust fan in the toilet; needs renovation;
