Such a nice stay for the weekend...a lovely location...a fine clean room with a very comfortable bed ...staff were nice and we would definitely stay here again....I'd also like to thank them for the lovely birthday card and box of chocolates that were left in the room for me...such a lovely gesture
My partner and I stayed in this hotel not too long ago and we thought it was fine to start with. Close to the beach and fairly cheap. We didn't spend much time in the hotel but towards the end of the trip we noticed old blood stains on the bed sheets as well as more blood stains on the shower curtains. After finding these we decided to check more of the hotel. We found bleach stains on the bedding from where the hotel owner had clearly tried to get out other stains instead of buying new bedding, the window curtains had huge rips in them and so did the pillow case on the underside. We tried to confront the owner when we left but he was nowhere to be seen. When we reported the issue to Airbnb and asked for a bit of our money back, the owner then demanded we pay £30 for additional cleaning for the mess that was already there. We didn't want to make a big fuss about this but after the owner then tried to blame it on us we feel absolutely disgusted by his behaviour and think it's only fair other people know what they're getting themselves into. Do NOT book here it's not worth the price.
I booked this hotel last minute for a friends birthday through air bnb and was absolutely disgusted to find blood stained sheets and a shower curtain. Stained pillow cases and sheets along with a filthy mattress. DON’T stay here. The manager will request extra money from you for cleaning claiming you made the room dirty when in fact the hotel itself isn’t just rank. Avoid at all costs.
We booked this room through Airbnb, on entrance to the hotel the smell of damp was horrible. First impressions the room was clean, however when we got into bed and looked at the ceiling there was little flies everywhere, disgusting!!!. We called the mobile number we had only to be told there was nothing she could do and even admitted she wouldn’t stay there, if our car had of been parked closer we would of slept in the car. We are still waiting for a call back to discuss the refund!! AVOID
Where to begin,
As we first entered the carpets were ripped on the stairs leading to reception.
When we got to our room the first thing we noticed was the smell of mould then spotted mould in the corner of the room.
There was a huge gap under the door.
The shower unit was also slippy we had to put a grip mat in the shower (also could not alter heat of shower... Far to hot)
We did not see the proprietor once after we booked in, so could not ask for fresh towels or bedding(which were not changed all week)
And lastly we could not open the window to get rid of some of the smell of mould.
Avoid this place for the health of you and your family.
My wife and I chose this to book this hotel if that's what you could call it, as a late getaway to visit family in brighton area.
We arrived early to be informed our room was ready, great we thought. A nice chap met us at reception and sorted out our parking space. That's as good as it got.
The room, No.202 was shocking to say the least. Shower in room stank, dirty towels left in the tray, toilet didnt flush properly, mould in all corners, dirty cutlery left on sink with a bottle of bleach!! The bedroom was just as bad, had to fight to close our window, mirror on ceiling of the 4 poster bed, really!!
Smelt damp and unclean, when I moved the chair to check when leaving, I noticed something had eaten the carpet away, and smelt bad. On leaving the hotel on sunday, someone had been sick all over the steps on main entrance!! Hard to walk round that. The whole place needs updating urgently, I really feel for anyone who books to stay here. Avoid at all costs.
Location was fantastic. View was ok!
Room was awful. Dirty, small, outdated. Not cleaned properly, filled with last persons rubbish down the side of the cabinet. No towels, left over of last persons toilet roll, no more than that. Window wouldn’t stay open so had to wedge it open with the basket that the tiny complimentary soap for the shower came in. The shower was so small you struggle to lift your arms to wash your hair. Dirty toilet seat, dirty windowsill. Closes at 9pm so if you need anything after that you’ll struggle. Could hear everything from every room, especially at 3am when the drunks fall in and continue to have noisy sex all night.
The best advice is to read all the reviews first before choosing to book. I did not and regretted it !
First thing I noticed was that there were NO TOWELS supplied.
Next, there was an electric kettle. But NO cups and no tea/coffee/milk.
Radiator was full of air and I had no bleed key with me.
Extract fan in the bathroom is not working. Building Regulation Offence!
Toilet does not fully flush the bowl.
There is no soap tray in the shower, more annoying than you would think.
TV works but does not show ANY BBC TV or Radio channels!
Now a couple of things which are OK:-
The bed is fairly comfortable.
They do supply some soap and shower gel.
The shower head works quite well and is warm. But the tray does not empty properly and so you paddle in 4" of water. No soap tray!
The WiFi works well in the bedroom.
Be aware you cannot check in after 8pm under ANY circumstances, even if you speak to the man in the basement.
Overall:
Think of why this hotel is rated at 45 out of 49 in Brighton!
Please please do not waste your money..£120 for 1 night..no refund if you cancel.Tiny room. Filthy tiny bathroom.Had to buy bleach etc to clean before we could use it.Young man at reception was pleasant.Should be working somewhere better. Beds uncomfortable but clean linen.Room not dark enough to sleep. Green light above door! Smell of urine outside room! I didn't check reviews. Will next time! So disappointed
My partner booked us a romantic night away at last minute. We booked this hotel at £150 for one night so not cheap.
We were driving down from london and received a call asking if we were going to be long this should have been the first red flag.
Parked up and our heart sank it looks like a dump but as there was no where else available we braved it.
Dirty carpets, odd smell and the guy who booked us in couldn't get away quick enough.
We were on the first floor what an absolute joke of a room. Absolutely tiny, bathroom ok but basic.
Old dirty pillows and a motorbike workshop opposite that was open at 7am ON A SUNDAY reving up engines.
Free wifi advertised but when we asked for the code were told there was no wifi.
Worst hotel stay ever avoid at all costs.
DO NOT BOOK!! Worst customer service I have ever encountered. We notified the hotel 1hour prior to our arranged arrival that we would be 10 minutes late checking in and when we arrived reception had closed and we were refused check-in, leaving us stranded without anywhere to stay. Shockingly, their police is to have someone on site 24/7! This person was in the basement but wouldn’t count up the single set of stairs to pass us the key. Poor communication from the hotel throughout, and a refusal to refund our money even though we were unable to stay there! From what we could see from the entry corridor and reception area the hotel was very run down, shabby and dirty, with electrical wires trailing along the hallway taped to the carpet. Parking was also quite awkward. Horrendous experience all round.
@@We’re not the only people by far this has happened to. Read the previous reviews!@@
the lady who has the hotel is very nice indeed, this was my second time staying there, It's very quiet has a great view of the i360, shopping so near at hand restaurants plenty to choose from. I would stay there again and again when I go to see my Son .
Had booked a room to stay last minute. Immediately after booking I had realised last check in was 8pm, still 2 and a half hours away ar 730pm I called the hotel to see if there was anyway we could arrive a little late. The gentleman on the phone said it wasn't possible but I could cancel there and then and I wouldn't be charged as they hadn't taken my money yet this was true. I cancelled the booking straight away. I then recieve a phone call from the hotel saying booking.com had taken the funds. This was not true after speaking to booking.com they reviewed the hotel had taken the funds after telling me i will not be charged. Hours and hours later after speaking to the bank they refunded my money only to find out 2 days later they have taken the money from my account ince again. Telling me I shouldn't be refunded. Not allowing me to speak to a manager and telling me that they do not have the authority to refund me. The manager is never there to speak to. I believe they need to give their staff some proper training to they do not tell you miss leading information.
Booked a last minute deal. Didn't read any review before hand. To be fair, the receptionist was really friendly and helpful. As previously stated, the hotel is in a great location. Unfortunately it's also really old and in need of a make over. No hot water for a wash or shower but again to be fair, the receptionist was so apologetic, I felt sorry for him. He looked like he hadn't slept all night. Hotel was very basic and not particularly cheap. I think the management need to take note of these comment. Again, receptionist did his best but I feel was fighting a losing battle.
Poor cleanliness and maintenance of this hotel which is a shame as it is in such a wonderful location. However you might as well save your money and go else where as you are spoilt for choice in Brighton with a number of other hotels that are within the same vicinity. The hotel was run down with obvious tears and distressing to the carpets. The entrance and reception area is dark and gloomy and is always unmanned. The room was also gloomy but was adequately sized and had facilities provided such as towels, tea and coffee, hairdryer and a large tv with freeview. There is no WiFi in the room. The room looked somewhat clean on first observation but upon taking a better look you can tell it wasn’t. It was very dusty and smelt musty. The bed was clean with new sheets but the mattress was cheap and very uncomfortable as I could feel every spring. The divan of the bed was torn and headboard was not attached to the bed. The toilet had brown stains on the seat and appeared to have not been cleaned in the bowl too as there was dark ring around it. The bathroom facilities did appear modern enough. However when I tried to take a shower the water would not drain. At the moment i would not recommend my worst enemy to stay here. Thank god I was only here for one night and it was a depressing experience. The management should really think about renovation as the property has so much potential but is greatly lacking the optimal standards at present.
Smelly, small, no hot water in the bathroom and at the reception they couldn’t take care of our luggages but the previous day they told us it was possible.
It was a nightmare, the beds were not comfy at all.
To be honest, for the price we paid it would have been far better to book a room in a five starts hotel being so sure to have a spacious and pretty room and breakfast included, because here we had no breakfast.
The hotel smelt like a cattery where none of the litter trays had ever been emptied. The receptionist who was helpful had bad body odour. The room was in need of a refurb (as does the whole hotel). The bed was lumpy and you could feel the springs coming through. The bed board wasn't properly attached so would hit the wall at every movement. The window was only part double pained so could hear outside noise quite clearly. The curtains were thin letting in light. The radiator wouldn't turn off (it was a warm weekend so why they were on aways?!). The bathroom had mould round the taps that in part would flake off when the tap tuned on. The hot water took forever to heat up for the shower. The bathroom itself was very dated and needed a deep clean. The paper thin walls meant we heard the people in both rooms either side of ours. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, ever. I only wish there was a criteria for travel sites so places like this would never get listed.
The view from the room was nice. There isn't anything else we liked about the hotel!!!
Despite guests being warned of a £200 fine for smoking in their room or removing the smoke alarm there was no smoke alarm in my room, which made me feel very unsafe. Then when I woke up at 5am, there was a clear stench of cigarette smoke on my floor’s landing. Furthermore, there was no milk sachets to make a cup or tea or coffee, there are no spare electrical sockets for you to charge phones so you have to unplug the bedside light - slightly impractical especially when the ceiling light does work. To make you feel even more unsafe, there is some sort of access via the single glazed window from outside (possibly an old fire escape route) with 1970s floral carpeted steps next to the window to provide any potential thief with a soft landing. Anyway, I refused to leave my laptop or valuables in the room when I went out.
The shower tray was gross with water coming out as a dribble at best. Guests are also threatened with a £20 fine if they stain the towels with make-up or anything else.
The mattress was unbelievably uncomfortable, whilst the bedding was minimal with the stained divan base visible. The bed made me itch.
Save your money and stay elsewhere!
The locations is great but the bedroom was very basic (didn’t look anything like the photos), the bed was really uncomfortable and there was no WiFi. The worst part was the people next door keeping us awake with loud music and shouting from 4am until around 8/9am. We rang reception three times and no answer.
Stayed in this hotel recently and I had a great stay. The staff were all lovely and attentive, very helpful and knowledgable of the local area. Check in was easy and quick, my room was big and unique. The room was quiet and clean and came with a mini bar and other extras. Location is also amazing, very close to the beach and town centre. Would recommend and return considering great value for money.
