Luxury with a great gym
Arrived, no valet. Dragged the bags in myself. Got convoluted instructions how to self-park that made my eyes gloss over as she just kept talking. It wasn’t that complicated. No mention of Bonvoy benefits at all.
Getting into my room, there was a dirty napkin from a prior guest left hanging in the shower.
I asked for housekeeping. They showed up and took the napkin away, didn’t even make a show of actually cleaning the bathroom.
Bed was definitely not the “heavenly bed”- mattress was old and worn and I woke up multiple times every night with hip pain despite letting guest services know after the first night. They just put 2 comforters down under the fitted sheet- no other solutions offered in this near-empty hotel (like changing room, changing mattress).
Hair dryer doesn’t work, intermittently blows hot and cold. At that point, I didn’t bother calling again to ask to fix that too.
Was put in the villas where the smell of cooking and fried meat from neighboring units fills your unit and can’t help but seep into your clothes.
Coffee shop is closed, market is closed, restaurant is closed except for an a la carte breakfast- none of this is outlined on the web site so you wouldn’t know that when booking.
No mention of my [lifetime] platinum benefits when checking in despite attaching my number to the reservation. So got none.
On the last night, I called to ask where I could eat because even the pool restaurant was closed that day and was told repeatedly by an agent (with someone whispering to her in the background very obviously) to look up the website for the restaurants, and my only option is the lobby bar. The website given shows the lobby bar hours until 10pm and does not say anything about the kitchen closing before that. So I arrived at 9:15. And was told the kitchen had closed and to try in-room dining.
In-room dining had also closed at 9 except salads and sandwiches. And adds 22% to each bill plus a 6$ delivery fee
After everything, I finally got upset on my last night there, I was starving, having eaten only a couple of granola bars because I spent a good part of the day in a sales pitch for the residences that I genuinely considered but finally declined.
I spoke to “service express” whose attitude was clearly that it’s not their problem (though they were the one who sent me to the website that said the place was open til 10 and served food). No acceptance of any responsibility. I asked for the manager- similarly no accountability or care. I was told I could try Domino’s pizza.
I have a health problem and this trip was made to try to help as a “wellness” getaway…with all the attention to “wellness” they advertise. Domino’s pizza isn’t even a possibility for me, but they clearly didn’t care why I might have been concerned in the first place.
Last night ruined with zero effort to try to help or even figure out how to make amends for their mistake-much less take responsibility for it. They just shifted blame to another department as if that makes a difference to my vacation experience.
I used to come to this resort years ago (> 5) and now I remember why I hadn’t been back- zero customer service, despite the great location. Bad enough to make the location irrelevant. . The attitude has always been that the staff are shift workers with no investment in the property or the experience in general and even less concern for yours. The answer to everything had always been to ‘do it yourself’, with indifference. Nothing’s changed except the mattresses are more worn out than 6-7y ago (and not changed) and the appliances are similar.
They apparently don’t do much to clean the bathrooms between guests, they don’t think it’s important to let guests know what facilities are open or closed when booking, they aren’t interested in honoring Bonvoy status and they don’t show any interest in taking responsibility and addressing their own misinformation or troubleshooting. Their only ‘solution’ is to have you pay a mark-up in price and service charge as well as additional fee because of their mistake, or ‘figure it out’ elsewhere after outside restaurants are already closed.
Best part is the laughter in the background on the call with the front-of-house manager overnight- like giggling high-schoolers are running the hotel. Being overtly ridiculed when calling with a complaint only adds to the aggravation. And I paid for the honor of being treated this way by employees half my age?
The service is unchanged, and given long experience with hospitality and years as titanium and ambassador elite status [before an accident slowed my travel temporarily], this usually is a reflection on the manager who feels this level of ‘service’ is acceptable at their property. Unprofessional, giggling high-schoolers who don’t take responsibility for their mistakes and don’t show any concern for the guest experience at all.
Thank goodness I didn’t buy into their points ownership program, which includes properties with this level of “care”.
Judge for yourself if you want to spend luxury-level money for a hotel that doesn’t match what it represents itself to be.
Villa cleaning every 2 days not acceptable
Our room was accessed through the basement. You literally enter through the parking lot, completely isolated from the hotel's facilities and amenities.
Room service was never available. To order food, we had to take our car to the basement and drive to the front desk to request service there.
From start to finish, our experience at The Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas has been outstanding. The entire staff has been incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional — truly making our stay something special. A big shoutout to Madison for her thoughtful communication and for surprising us with a welcome gift that included wine, chocolates, and a handwritten note. It was such a kind and personal gesture that really set the tone for our visit.
But it wasn’t just Madison — every single team member we interacted with went above and beyond. From the front desk to housekeeping, and especially the ski valet, everyone was warm, helpful, and attentive. The ski valet service was incredibly convenient and made getting to the slopes so much easier, especially with the direct access to the gondola right from the property.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and packed with amenities, providing everything we needed to relax after a day on the mountain. It’s clear that the staff at this property take great pride in creating a welcoming and seamless guest experience.
Highly recommend this location for anyone visiting Beaver Creek — we’ll definitely be coming back!
Awesome
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Westin Riverfront
Room was perfect for our family with two young kids. Kitchen and dining area were great for dinners in a few times. Location of the villa rooms is funky, but the rooms are great.
Such a nice property. Easy access. Friendly staff. The amenities always available. Good food and good ambiance. Great options for families
I've stayed at a few properties in the Vail/Breckenridge/Avon area and this is my favorite so far. I have not stayed at the Ritz or Grand Hyatt in Vail and those may change my mind but I digress.
It's worth noting that there are only a little over 30 villas available at the vacation club property so booking here during ski season is very difficult.
I stayed in a 1 BR villa on the 3rd floor with a view of the gondola. The bathroom was really nice with a separate soaking tub and walkin shower. The sofa has a short back and made it awkward to lean back on. That was my only critique of the villa.
It's true that the vacation club building has no amenities. I chose to walk through the garage to get to the hotel building rather than walking outside. The 3 large outdoor hot tubs made the effort worth it. The hot tubs here are better than the other ski properties I have stayed at.
It's also true that the property is not on the Beaver Creek mountain. I was here the week before the gondola was running. While there are numerous free shuttle and bus options, I chose to drive and park at the mountain for convenience. The drive is not far at all.
I also attended a sale meeting. I did not feel pressured. I was looking for an option that would ideally guarantee me a ski week here or improve my chances, but since they are not selling weeks anymore, there are no options to guarantee a reservation. I passed on making a purchase.
Beaver Creek turned out to be really fun even though the mountain was partially open during early December. I would love to come back again and would even stay at the nearby Sheraton Mountain Villas (while clearly a downgrade, the property is fine) if the Westin Riverfront is not available.
Excellent accommodations, everything was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly, many activities in the lobby and beautiful views. We loved the look out bar, the gym and the hot tubs. The hotel is very pet friendly. Do yourself a favor and go to this resort when you get a chance. Completely worth it. We will def be back.
Loved our stay - we had a villa with full kitchen and laundry. Staff were so friendly. Loved the hot pools and afternoon cookie and hot chocolate
The property was lovely and the staff super friendly! The only complaint I have is that the room wreaked of cleaning supplies and the sheets had a very very strong scent of detergent (I slept with a towel over the pillows). For folks that aren’t fond of smelly scents, I would recommend switching to more natural detergent and cleaning supplies.
Wow we have been owners here for probably ten years with a fixed week at Thanksgiving. We are platinum owners with Bonvoy which means we have invested a lot of money into time shares and tend to use Marriott hotels to earn points.
STAY AWAY. Do not buy into their sales pitches. They outright lied to us in St, John, selling us an inexpensive time share which would put us into the category of having access to travel advisors to help
Is plan trips. We bought and then when we went to take advantage of the service found out it did not exist and the salesperson oils not return our outreach.
Here in Avon, we arrived and we were allotted a suite in the basement and were told there was nothing they could do, despite our deep investment in the time share part of Marriott. The front desk said they were not responsible and there was no one on staff at the local vacation club office who was on duty. They said that rooms were assigned based on when the reservation was placed. Our confirmation email
Said we had made the reservation more than a year before and the confirmation said that rooms would be assigned at check in and someone is not telling the truth.
In addition, while for ten plus years there have been cool mist dehumidifiers in the rooms to help with how bone dry it is here, when I called their service line to ask for one, they said they had been removed due to concerns over liability. They suggested I go to Walmart and buy my own .
All in all, they seem
To have perfected the script that there is nothing they can do. I believe they are not telling the truth.
Very disappointing and such a downgrade to how things used to be.
Awesome! What great customer service. The villas are beautiful and the people are so nice. The room is fabulous. Didn’t try the hot tube are pool but many people were enjoying . Just minutes away from Vail village and Lionshead. This is worth the stay and trip, will be bringing the family back for vacation.
Comfortable, incredibly nice staff and gorgeous rooms, easy parking, beautiful location and all ammenities- just a great getaway!!! Loved it!!!
there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like
Gorgeous private villa within the hotel. Immaculate yet warm and comfortable.
