Whilst the stay was pleasant and we experienced no real issues, there are definitely things they could improve on.
The rooms have recently been renovated and you can definitely tell, they have been done to a high standard and the room was comfortable to stay in, however there are little things missing that you would expect from a Kimpton hotel;
The hotel provides toiletries in your bathroom, however the hand soap is a bar of soap but we were not provided a soap dish to put it in, so it would stick to the worktop and create a mess.
There was no bottled water within the room which you are supposed to receive, they do give you glasses and a bucket for the ice machine but with no water I’m not sure what they expect you to do with this?
There were also no tea or coffee facilities within the room, however they do offer free tea and coffee in the lobby, but most would prefer an in a room offering.
The towels provided had stains on them, as well as some of the bedding, which I would not expect. The stains on the bedding looked like dried blood which is inexcusable, and definitely did not come from myself or my partner.
There were also nail polish stains on the bedside table which could have been easily cleaned up.
The safe within the room was not working, which we were not happy with as we like to know anything of value we have with us is locked away during our stay, instead we had to lock in our suitcases.
The shower in our bathroom made a hideous high pitched noise the entire time it was switched on and did not change with temperature, it was also a poorly designed shower as the water ran onto the window sill and outside of the bathtub.
There were no slippers or robes provided, which from a 4-star Kimpton hotel I expect there to be. There was also no suitcase holder or any other surfaces we could put them on, so they had to remain on the floor. There was also no bin provided in the main bedroom, just the bathroom.
Whilst these are teething issues and can easily be rectified, they are little things that should not have been over looked in the first place.
I would stay here again, however I would want to know that these things have been improved on to make my stay more comfortable.
Clean, quiet, adequate storage.
Shower needs a door.
The Monaco is a beautiful, historic hotel. One of the finest in the City. From reception and throughout my stay, the staff were warmly welcoming, always helpful with questions or needs, and made it one of the best stays I've ever had. It is located in an excellent area of the city, with a wide range of transportation. The B&O restaurant and bar in the hotel was absolutely wonderful -- meals, drink, and service. Patrick and the other staff make you feel welcome, and do an excellent job, from start to finish. Great place to gather with colleagues. Since the Monaco is a short walk to the Convention Center, it is an excellent choice for business travelers.
I think it might be nicer to have at least a few more options for coffee and breakfast in the morning. There is the Market Store in the lobby, but those options are spare. Put out some muffins or bagels with the coffee!
Everything was good
Hot water did not last long and no microwave
Beautifully restored historic building and a short walk to the Baltimore Convention Center and the waterfront.
Check-in staff person at the front desk was not friendly, as in quite indifferent and sullen. The streets around the property get pretty seedy after dark. Breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant was unimpressive.
My company sent us to this hotel for a couple of days and my experience was great. The hotel staff at the front desk were all helpful and the valet was quick and efficient. Denise and Jameson were very attentive and put my luggage in the car . Will stay again!!
Review: Kimpton Hotel, Baltimore
We stayed in both a king room and a suite — both were great, though the suite was definitely our favorite (wish it had a bathtub, though). Our stay got off to a rough start because the first room we were given was really dirty — mismatched yellow towels, random hairs in the bed (which we found while checking for pests), and lots of dusty spots that should have been cleaned more thoroughly. Thankfully, the staff was responsive and moved us to a different room, which was much better.
Once settled, we appreciated the comfortable setup and dog-friendly vibe inside the hotel. It’s a sensible place for traveling with pets — inside feels safe and calm — but outside can feel a little dodgy, especially at night.
The in-room amenities and coffee/tea setup were just okay, and we didn’t get to try the evening wine reception. The lobby is located on the 2nd floor — you can take the elevator or a set of stunning (but steep and possibly slippery) marble stairs. I recommend the elevator.
Security is visible, which was reassuring — one guard even had to step in when someone bothered us outside. Walking dogs in the area isn’t ideal, and the second-floor lobby setup also makes deliveries a little awkward, so it helps to coordinate with the front desk and drivers.
Valet parking is a bit tight with limited space out front, but overall, the hotel is very convenient if you’re heading to events at the downtown arena.

Love this hotel, highly recommended
Clean
Booked room with jacuzzi paid extra, arrived was told no jacuzzi rooms.
This is a great hotel in a fantastic old building. The room was spacious and had a fantastic bathroom with walk in shower. The main floor had a luxurious, spacious seating area. Although we didn't eat there, they put on coffee each morning, which in my view was superior to poor quality coffee in the rooms.
I'd be happy to stay here again, although I would explore other locations in the city as well.
Room was clean and the lobby beautiful. They allowed us to check in early which was a plus. However, AC intermittently stops working. The toiletry very basic, no cotton balls or q-tips, a bar soap and shampoo. House keeping inconsistent, we stayed 3 nights. The 1st night they cleaned and on the 2 night we asked why house keeping didn’t clean. They said we have to request by 1 pm, we were never told this. Good thing when the housekeeper came by to drop off towels, they offered to clean which was nice. The TV didn’t work as well but we don’t really watch TV so we didn’t complain about this. Overall it’s a beautiful but old building, Kimpton has updated the furnishing and they always do a good job with that. Parking is valet only and it’s about $50 a day so be prepared for that. We didn’t walk outside the hotel but it’s not a far drive from tourist spots. It was a comfortable staybut customer service is definitely lacking.
Externally property was a mess
I liked the B&O theme including the restaurant. The architecture was great. Arriving late at night, the lobby seemed a little gloomy. Not sure what could be done about that. I enjoyed my stay. Thanks.
