Erten Konak - Special Class

Erten Konak is a nice antique hotel in a great location. It’s near shopping, restaurants, tram….
Staff were very nice and willing to help. Marco who worked at front desk was very helpful and nice. He carried our luggages upstairs. The hotel has nice decor and history. Our stay was marvelous. We will come back.

Thank you for the friendly helpful service, however, I must be honest: the rooms and common areas needed better cleaning. The stair carpets were old and dusty. There were layers of dust in many areas and the first smell you encounter at ground level is Cat odours. I have a severe allergy to dust and Cats. It is otherwise a lovely building with excellent staff - who genuinely made an effort to be helpful and were genuinely friendly - for that I say thank you and wish you all the best. Once the issues are resolved I’d highly recommend this hotel to all - as good quality at a reasonable price.

The stay was good. Room was slightly smaller than I imagined from the pictures.
However, it was comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay at Erten Konak! It’s in a great, walkable neighborhood, nearby all the Sultanahmet attractions. The cleaning and front desk staff were excellent and made for a very enjoyable stay. We especially appreciate the advice and recommendations of Mart. We hope to come visit this beautiful city again.

A cozy and clean hotel. The staff are super friendly. They allowed us to leave our luggages there when we arrived early and after our stay. The room was cleaned everyday with changing towels. The bathroom is a bit crowded- we understand it’s like historical building you can only do so much. In general a great experience and would highly recommend! Btw, there’s a nice grocery store close by and their persimmons are the best we ever had! And unbelievable affordable!

The location and front desk staff might be the only good part of this stay. We were overall pretty displeased with this hotel and would not recommend anyone staying here given there are many options in the area. We were placed on the highest floor of the hotel, the 4th. The staircase is very narrow with no elevator access. There is a smoking area/inner patio right in the middle of the building past, which allows for smoke to rise into the entire stairwell, permeating everything. The water pressure is terrible with a dangerous design of stepping in to an elevated surface. There was no hot water, it was barely tepid the entire week we were there. There is no placard to place on the door to state do not disturb and not for housekeeping to come in. Two days in a row, staff rifled through our belongings/luggage/closet while we were out all day; yet, housekeeping did not clean except for take out the trash. There were no blankets provided, so we had to ask for one. The bathroom had men's dirty underwear and used towels when we checked in the first day, including used shampoo and soap opened. There was hair in the sink basin and had a consistent dripping water that can be heard in the bedroom given the small space overall. There is absolutely no sound proofing throughout the hotel. The WiFi had gone out two separate times for multiple hours at a time during the week. The staff were nice overall though, especially the gentleman manning the front desk at night.

We stayed 2 nights in an economy room
Althought this hotel is in the historic area of istanbul and there's a lot of action on the streets, inside is quiet and peaceful so you get a break from a long day of touring.
The staff went above and beyond to help us in our tour planning and to accommodate us.
It would have been nice to have an accent light in the room because the ceiling one is quite powerful

Property is in such a conjusted area that the driver could not get by the Hotel. We had to drag our bags up the uneven road. Hotel didn’t even have elevator. Spiral stairs and was so difficult to get our bags to our room.

Claims to be a Boutique Hotel with 16 rooms on 4 levels, (no lift!).
Some Deluxe rooms look beautiful from photos, but we booked Special Room, a standard double room, which also looked stylish and large, on the photos.
The ground floor room given to us was tiny, dilapidated, and nothing like the photos!
No space around the bed, for an armchair, as pictured. Wall Paint was dirty, and scratched with lumps peeling off. Looks like it has had no maintenance in 20 years. Sheets were good, but pillows too hard and doona was too thick for summer. Shower rose kept slipping down, water stayed lukewarm. I’m glad we only booked one night, this was very disappointing! It’s not too hard to paint a room.

Very small rooms and old property but the location is fantastic, good for one night stay.

Well located hotel close to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. Helpful 24-7 front desk. Located close to good restaurants. Cute decor. Good air conditioning.

Just for sleeping is okay.

Quirky, quiet, clean with friendly staff. Very close to all the tourist sites and transport.

It was pretty property, quite old fashioned and fits in with the vibes of the area. There was an unpleasant strong smell from the bathroom but found that in many places in Istanbul so that wasn’t too great - perhaps to do with plumbing in Istanbul in general?. The view out the window was pretty nice though. It’s a decent hotel, mostly clean. Was really there to sleep and explore the city, decent price. Expect what you pay for. Staff were polite enough and eager to help.

It was just an OK trip. Since we had luggage the room we reserved was not given to us. We had reserved a room with sea view in the fourth floor, but we were asked to climb a very very narrow stairs for 5 flights, which was not possible. So we had to settle for a smaller room in the first floor. Being an inferior room we should be getting a partial refund at least.

Also the room which we reserved for $70+ from US, was listed for $32 on hotels.com website itself, when we reached there. Still we were charged in full.

The pictures shown on their website is old. The furnitures were very very old. The bathroom had good and fine fittings. Air conditioner was fine and good. Breakfast was good enough though very same repeated over and over again.

No drinking water was provided.

The tour contacts from the hotel desk was good. And they arranged good taxi service for good price.

I would go back and stay at this hotel. Very close to major attractions and the waterfront. Spoilt for choice when it comes to local restaurants.

Staff didn't speak much english, so a lot of misunderstandings. Room was not cleaned everyday. We took garbage out twice. Told them my bathroom lamp was broken and they never fixed it.
They arranged for an english speaking Aqva tour, and the tour guide didn't speak one word of english. They took us in a raggedy van that was dirty and had the side door broken. Driver didn't give us any information. I felt robbed. On top of it, they dropped us off very far from the hotel and one of us had problems walking. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. I feel we deserve to be reimbursed.
