I had an exceptional stay at Savera from January 29 to March 27, and I can confidently say it deserves ten stars.
From the moment I arrived until my departure, the front office team, led by Jenny, demonstrated outstanding professionalism, warmth, and efficiency. Every interaction was handled with genuine care, making my extended stay both comfortable and truly welcoming. Jenny leads by example, and this is clearly reflected in the team’s coordination, responsiveness, and attention to detail. I had the opportunity to observe how well she trains her team—new staff members are guided exceptionally well, and the second line of staff is highly capable, confident, and well equipped to manage operations independently, even during her absence. She consistently provides constructive feedback, and it is equally impressive how efficiently the team manages during her day off on Sundays.
Special appreciation to Lakshmi, Arunkumar, Yasmin, Kadher (whose support during night hours is commendable), Prakash, Anbu, and Nandita for their professionalism, consistency, and courteous approach.
A special mention to Yasmin for her courteous, calm, and professional approach, which consistently contributed to a smooth and pleasant front office experience.
I would also like to specially recognise Lakshmi and Arunkumar for their dedication, professionalism, and consistent support. Both demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and a proactive approach in handling guest requirements, ensuring that interactions were efficient and welcoming. Their positive attitude and willingness to assist at all times made a noticeable difference to the overall guest experience.
I would also like to acknowledge that there may be other team members whose names I have not captured, but whose contributions are equally valued and appreciated.
The dining experience at Savera is truly remarkable, with each restaurant offering its own distinct identity and flavours. Piano Restaurant provides an excellent dining experience, especially at breakfast, where Kumar and Rameeza warmly welcome guests each morning with attentiveness and genuine hospitality. The team manages resources efficiently while consistently delivering delicious, high-quality food in a clean and well-organised environment.
Despite the current global challenges affecting food preparation, particularly gas supply issues arising from the situation in the Middle East, the team showed remarkable adaptability by continuing operations using alternative methods such as wood-based cooking, without compromising on quality.
A special mention must go to Venmathi and the other chefs for their dedication, consistency, and skill in preparing high-quality food. Their efforts behind the scenes are clearly reflected in the taste, presentation, and overall standard of the dishes. I would also like to recognise every member of staff in Piano, including those not mentioned individually, as their teamwork plays an equally important role in maintaining excellence.
Malgudi Restaurant stands out for its authentic vegetarian cuisine and for beautifully celebrating festivals throughout the year with special dishes, bringing diverse and traditional flavours to guests. Each visit offers a unique and enriching culinary experience. I would also like to appreciate all the chefs and service staff at Malgudi, including those not individually named, for their dedication and contribution.
The Brew caters to all sections of society with a wide variety of food options, while the two bars offer an excellent selection of high-quality Indian and imported beverages. Each outlet has its own unique identity, yet all maintain consistently high standards.
The housekeeping team deserves special recognition for maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and room readiness across the hotel. Under the supervision of Santhosh Balaji (Head of Housekeeping), with strong support from Prabhu (Assistant Manager) and Kamruddin (Assistant Manager) managing all ten floors efficiently, the team ensures that guests experience comfort and consistency at all times. Their behind-the-scenes efforts are truly invaluable. Balaji, along with the maintenance and fire safety teams, plays an important role in ensuring a safe environment within Savera.
I would also like to acknowledge the security team, led by Ex-Army officer Asokan, for their disciplined and professional approach in ensuring the safety of every individual entering and leaving the hotel. Their presence provides reassurance and contributes greatly to a secure environment.
Special appreciation also goes to the drivers and staff who assist with guiding and parking guest cars with utmost professionalism. Their courteous and organised approach creates a positive first and lasting impression.
Savera also offers excellent facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, beauty parlour, and outstanding physiotherapy services led by Dr Vijay and his dedicated team of physiotherapists and trainers. I would also like to appreciate Sneha, whose customer service skills and expertise in nutrition are exceptional. This reflects a strong commitment to health, well-being, and overall guest care.
I would also like to make a special mention of Vanitha (DGM), whose support and guidance were invaluable in helping me choose Apollo One Hospital for my medical treatment. Her assistance and concern reflect the genuine care and extended support provided by the Savera team beyond regular hospitality services.
What truly sets Savera apart is its ability to cater to everyone—both Indian and international guests—with comfort, safety, and all-round excellence. Front office, food services, housekeeping, security, health and safety, and all support teams work seamlessly together, forming the backbone of a truly exceptional guest experience.
What truly stood out throughout my stay was the consistently excellent customer service delivered with a genuine smile by every member of staff. This warmth, positivity, and readiness to assist created a truly welcoming environment and made my stay even more memorable.
Jenny and her team clearly reflect and uphold the vision of Nina Reddy. Her leadership is visionary and deeply rooted in maintaining quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction across all areas of the hotel.
Her ability to anticipate challenges, adapt swiftly to changing circumstances, and ensure continuity in service standards reflects exceptional foresight and strategic leadership.
It is also evident that she has cultivated a culture where excellence is not just expected but consistently delivered, with every department contributing towards a shared goal of guest satisfaction and organisational growth.
Under her leadership, Savera continues to strengthen its reputation not only locally but also among international guests, positioning itself as a destination known for reliability, quality, and all-round hospitality.
Jenny also maintains excellent working relationships across all departments, fostering collaboration, mutual respect, and a positive working environment. This strong sense of teamwork across all teams plays a vital role in ensuring that Nina Reddy’s vision is consistently delivered through a unified and high-quality guest experience.
At the same time, it is important to recognise that this level of excellence is made possible by the collective efforts of every member of staff. Each department and every individual contribute equally in upholding the standards and values of Savera, and all deserve appreciation for their dedication and commitment.
Despite the global challenges affecting food preparation, Nina Reddy’s swift and effective decision-making in implementing alternative cooking methods ensured that standards were never compromised. This reflects her foresight, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to Kumar, the General Manager, for his untiring efforts, strong supervision, and dedication in ensuring that high standards are consistently maintained across all departments. His leadership provides a strong foundation for the team and supports the smooth functioning of the hotel.
Overall, Savera stands out as a place for everyone, where every guest feels valued, safe, and well cared for under its well-known name. Every department was excellent, and even though I may not have mentioned every individual by name, all deserve equal appreciation and recognition for their contribution.
I now consider Savera as my home away from home and my favourite destination. To me, Savera represents Service, Attention to detail, Value, Excellence, Reliability, and Authentic hospitality—qualities that are consistently delivered across every department.
Highly recommended—this experience undoubtedly deserves ten stars.

Affordable and quality stay in Chennai
I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel and would like to share my appreciation before checking out.
The overall experience was excellent, the rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. What stood out the most was the exceptional room service. The staff was always prompt, polite and attentive to every request, which made the stay very comfortable.
A special mention to Manager Prasaath, who ensured everything was taken care of professionally. His hospitality, attention to detail and willingness to assist guests truly enhanced the experience.
This is my 4th stay at Savera and everytime I felt great.
Very tired furniture and fittings - the standard of cleanliness is pretty awful. The floor in the dining room hasn’t had a proper clean for ages - it’s quite disgusting. My husband was given a cup of chai to taste at breakfast. When said no thank you , I’ll take black tea, the chef just threw the remains of his cup back into the urn !!! Eugh . I asked for poached eggs and after much explaining was told they didn’t have them , even though it’s just eggs in boiling water !! The service in the bar took so long that we might well as have waited for the buffet to open. The music was so loud we actually had to shout to be heard and the waiter just laughed. The paint on the furniture everywhere was chipped/great chunks out and peeling . Can’t imagine how the bar looks in daylight .
I fully appreciate that I am a guest in this beautiful country, but the standard of English of the staff was very poor - it took much effort for us to understand them and them to understand us - we often gave up.
People left piles of rubbish in the corridor which stayed there for our entire visit.
Overall, we were glad to leave .
This hotel is not set up for westerners .
Hotel Savera - homely, clean, all the staff at reception esp Mr Arun, Ms Vanitha , cleaning, restaurant very polite. Food superb - breakfast and the restaurants.
Enjoyable stay. Location ideal. Family friendly.
Five star service.
Highly recommend
We have used this hotel since the nineties. Though the building has become old, it retains most of its charm.
We especially enjoyed dinner at Malgudi Resturant which has excellent ambience and authentic preparation.
Mr Ashokkumar Mr Kumar n Jenny made our stay very comfortable.
Venmathy our chef prepared special meals for us. Dinesh from housekeeping was also outstanding. Thank u so much.
Being longtime Chennai residents, we chose the well-reputed iconic Savera Hotel for a 4N/5D stay to bid goodbye to 2025 & welcome the New Year 2026.
Savera is excellently located on Cathedral Road, with its own huge car park for owner-driven cars like ours, valet parking as well as swift response - less than 5mins - from Ola / Uber at all hours of daytime & well into the night. Savera is within 15mins drive from a host of Govt / Public / Private offices, ancient iconic places of worship - Kapaleeswarar Temple, Parthasarathy Temple, Wallajah Big Mosque, St.Thomas Basilica etc - Marina Beach, Egmore Museum, Lighthouse, iconic Centres for Performing Fine Arts - Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha etc - & a vast spread of Shopping Outlets & Malls.
We checked into our Executive room on the 10th Floor. After the 1st use of the bathroom, water was found flooded into the room. Our frantic call to the Reception asking for a change of room was met with an assurance to look into it. An hour passed. Our expectation of an immediate visit from Maintenance was futile. My next call demanding room change led to a bellboy showing us an alternate room & interchange of our bags.
Our room felt unusually cramped, inspite of its ample 280sft area. The choice of unsuited furniture meant 2 persons could not sit together for in-room dining. The side tables & light switches are so far away from the bed that a person must get off the bed to switch off / switch on lights, keep specs or books on the side table or even place / pickup mobile or switch off the alarm. The in-between spaces are totally wasted.
The bathroom toiletries are distressfully minimal. No hand towels (provided after repeated requests), a single small soap cake & total 3 tiny bottles of shower gel, shampoo & body lotion is expected to serve 2 guests for all purposes, a single dental kit. No more. The shower area was bare of any toiletry. 2 large wall pictures cover the bathroom wall (there are no pictures in the room) with no provision for hanging any clothes. There was no provision inside the shower area for keeping towels or hanging any clothes. The floor of the shower area sloped away from the drain so water pooled on the floor after every shower. A person would have soaking wet feet stepping out of the shower.
Deeply inset lighting over mirrors ensure the face is in shadow while shaving.
The buffet breakfast was functional, with typical tasty Savera food. There is no provision for getting drinking water which is limited to table service (on enquiry). The chances of catching a waiter’s eye to request water was remote. An ancient toaster was provided which allowed entry for single bread slices but the toasted slice remained out of sight & access. The choice of bakery was limited & quickly exhausted.
Calls for In-room Dining & even Reception could remain unattended even after several attempts.
Savera is not a hotel of choice. It has a long way to go in meeting basic needs of guests. I hope it does.
Hotel is in best location. Important destination easily accessible. Rooms are well maintained. Neat and clean. Housing carried out by Jitu & Govind did a wonderful job in cleaning and maintaining stuff in the room.
Had been to Hotel Savera for a Family lunch today 04-12-2025 with an offer come 3 pay for 2. Hotel Savera have a reputation for some older stalwarts of Chennai. Yet, welcome was lukewarm. Table shown yet glass cups were not filled-in even after 45 mts into lunch. Though Live counters were present, there was no ghost. 2 plates of Pani poori was at its lowest cheer. Pizza - veg pizza did not carry any charm. It was thinnest crust and tiny. There was no tomato sauce on the dining table.
Veg spread was pushed to end of room with names unprounceable . Veg spread was very thin..Plates were at end and veg dishes at an other end. There were no bowls to pickup a cup of curd or malli rasam. Other veg dishes were kept very nearby to glumptious Non Veg items so it you miss a beat, you will pickup non veg item. Breads were kept at near end and veggie side dish at the other end and one has run around to pickup the dish.
The ice cream did not even have toppings. Till we left table, water was never refilled. Common veg dishes were missing significantly. Over experience was not splendid and for this high price, this spread of lunch does not qualify. Loud western music was bookish and glaring like a tea shop. The music was harsh and non enjoyable. Veg salad was not very significant and mint chutney was too spicy. There were no slices of lemon. None of waiters dropped by to assist. No wash bowls provided and we need to travel to large restroom with unisex most inconvenient restroom. Design of it was very poor and prime space were totally misused . Though many supervisors were doing merry go around none cared to look to find opportunities to serve. Hence for a Veg menu, Hotel Savera is most unsuitable and for this high price, it deserves a lowest rating. Saving grace is the caricature opportunity which can be utilized. Otherwise, this lunch session gains lowest rating from US.
