Pros:

La beauté de l hôtel, la magnifique piscine, l accès à l hôtel voisin, la gentillesse du personnel.

Cons:

Le buffet du petit déjeuner a 27€ est trop cher. Au café à côté de la piscine une omelette à 17€ c est excessif aussi.

Er werd een poging ondernomen bij de afrekening om nog eens 5 procent fooi aan te rekenen terwijl wij bij elke rekening service hadden betaald en reeds fooien aan de obers gegeven hadden. Heb dit van de rekening laten halen, dit gebeurde zonder problemen.

Entrando in questo hotel, si ha l'impressione di trovarsi in una vera reggia, arredata con grande gusto e soprattutto con una cura straordinaria per ogni particolare. Non parlo soltanto degli elementi d'arredo, ma anche delle finiture, delle opere murarie e di tutti quei dettagli che rivelano quanto nulla sia stato lasciato al caso. Un insieme elegante, raffinato e perfettamente armonioso.
A rendere il soggiorno ancora più piacevole è il personale: sempre sorridente, gentile, disponibile e mai invadente. Un'accoglienza che fa sentire immediatamente a proprio agio.
E poi la pulizia, davvero impeccabile: tutto è curato con una meticolosità che si nota in ogni ambiente.
Percorrendo la bellissima galleria, (collegamento interno) , si raggiungere il lago e la piazzetta
Un hotel che definirei semplicemente splendido, in una posizione ideale per vivere pienamente una vacanza sul lago Maggiore

I would return with caveats: fantastic if a good price, but overrated if you’re paying more
Pros:

It’s hard to describe this hotel - lots of pros and cons depending on how much it has cost. For us, we had a very good stay and had more pros than cons - so this review is nuanced, and overall I would recommend.

The hotel really is opulent and beautiful, extremely clean, great pool and sunbed area, professional staff. The underground link to the Grand Hotel Dino is fantastic (and quite a quirk) as it leads straight to the beach club which is very nicely done. The Grand Hotel Dino is equally opulent and very well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay.

Cons:

As others have said, not everything is included which is acceptable if you didn’t pay much (like us) but it’s ridiculous if you’ve paid a lot. The well appointed gym is not included and costs €12/day extra; the sauna isn’t included and I think you have to pay; the front row of the beach club is reserved for suites; the pontoon has to be reserved for a lot of money; the room fridge seems to require you to open with your card; you have to refuse a 5% service charge at the end if you don’t want it (which the hotel staff were polite and fine with doing). Not the end of the world but frustrating if you’ve paid a lot.

We had one of the cheapest rooms in the oldest part of the hotel (which was musky and mouldy - we were told it was the AC, which we knew it wasn’t, and when we’re moved the next day the other room also smelt of mould). We accepted this frustrating downside as we paid a reasonable amount for our stay and enjoyed the hotel’s amenities but we expected better for such a professional hotel.

The room itself was comfortable but it is very dated and doesn’t match the opulence of the hotel. Bedding is frumpy, the fittings feel run down and the bathroom needs renovating. Overall, it was acceptable but a downside.

Sur le chemin de Milan
Pros:

Nous avons choisi l’Hôtel Simplon à Baveno comme étape sur la route de Milan, situé à environ 1h30 de notre destination. Réservation faite à 15h pour le soir même, en choisissant la chambre la moins chère pour trois personnes.

Nous avons eu une jolie chambre sous les toits, certes sans fenêtre classique, mais avec une lucarne. Nous sommes arrivés vers 21h30 : parking à disposition et accueil parfait malgré l’heure tardive.

La très belle surprise nous attendait le lendemain matin : une grande piscine installée dans un magnifique parc, dont nous avons pu profiter avant notre départ. Petit café au bord de la piscine, puis départ tranquillement pour Milan vers 11h.

Une étape choisie un peu par hasard qui s’est révélée être une excellente surprise. Nous y reviendrions volontiers.
