Professional property host/manager
Schloss gut erhaltenen sehr sauber.
Typical French chateau. Well cared for and appointed. Greeting on arrival by descendant of the family provided a personal touch to share the history of the property and it's facilities. Much appreciated.
Historic 14th century castle/hotel with turrets, gardens, forest, and beautiful rooms. The Count of the castle is charming and welcoming. The castle is in the countryside but five minutes from a small town. A wonderful experience.
Accueil chaleureux et lieu magnifique.
Amazing experience to stay in a family operated chateau. Owner couldn’t be more helpful with recommendations for restaurants and places to visit in the area. Highly recommended.
We were met by the owner who spent lots of time showing us around and explaining the best things to do in the area.
A beautiful and restful place to stay.
Terrific old chateau with lots of charm. Count de Coral was a lovely host.
Allt helt fantastiskt
Lovely old family chateau with lots of charm and lovely historic furniture and fully renovated bathroom. Nice breakfast room and lovely tea nook. Very comfortable beds.
Centuries old castle, had large room and wonderful views.
Breakfast excellent, parking easy.
Only thought, bathroom appointments not up to 4 star level.
Charming period home.we were made most welcome
by the owner the Count himself. We will certainly return.
A unique experience of staying in Château d'Urtubie that some of its rooms were converted to hotel rooms.
The Château d'Urtubie is undergoing renovation so not all rooms were available. The room we got was cosy with nice view (small things like restroom door needs to be fixed). The owner was very kind in checking us in (late arrival) making sure that everything works (wifi) and checking us out. He also gave us an exciting tour of the Château d'Urtubie. It is located within 5 minutes drive from lively (ocean/shopping/restaurants) St Jean de luz .There is a great Michelin rated restaurant nearby (5 minutes walk).
All in all a very positive experience. Highly recommended
We booked in for 4 nights - and loved it. The owner - Phillipe? - was most welcoming and helpful, and showed us around the old part of the chateau. The room was charming and comfortable - little things like good lighting in the bathroom, a magnifying mirror, a decent shower, and power points made everything so easy. Breakfast was extra, but great. Happy to recommend, will definitely stay there again.
We were welcomed by the Count who really made us feel special. Staying at the Castle was a wonderful experience. It was one the highlights of our time in France.
The Chateau is a medium sized one, has a keep and even a moat! The same family has been living in it since starting to build the Chateau in the 1300's and have been adding to it ever since.
We were given a warm, friendly welcome by the current Compte, who showed us around and then to our room. Despite the castle like architecture in parts, it also had a homely, 'liveable in' feel to it. Our bedroom and bathroom were large, very comfortable and everything was good quality chosen with taste, including the 17th century bedhead.
We were late booking and only the most expensive room was left but we both felt that the experience was worth every penny, particularly when looking out of our window onto the English rose garden!
Parts of the Chateau are open to the public but you are encouraged to make yourself at home and wander where you will, and just soak up the atmosphere.
any disadvantages? it is near a busy road -so there is some traffic 'hum' in parts of the garden nearest the road, but special blinds, and extra glazing meant that in our bedroom, we could not hear any traffic noise when the windows were closed. We can't speak for other rooms ofcourse.
Evening meals are not offered at the Chateau - however there is a good and interesting restaurant within an 8 mins walk ( or 2 min drive) on a path through a field of maize!! I would take a torch another time!
