Wonderful boutique hotel, converted from a historic walled village. Owner was most gracious and welcoming. Truly a delightful experience. Breakfast was great. And the restaurant was exceptional. Charming. Could not rank more highly

Fantastic stay!

La location è decisamente impressionante. Non sempre capita di dormire in un castello. A noi avevano dato la camera nella torre. Grande e pulita. il letto lato materasso era comodo ma lato rete si muoveva e a fine letto c'era la pediera ed essendo alto 1.90 non era decisamente comoda. a parte questo piccolo dettaglio, lo consiglio

The woman who manages Albergo Torre Sangiovanni and her staff are very nice and very helpful. We had dinner and breakfast there and both were outstanding.

A very enjoyable stay ~ after we got there! Our flight into Rome was over an hour late due to unavoidable problems and consequently our rental car by Discover Cars was no longer available so we had to rent on the spot costing us two and a half times what was planned.
That was a bad start but once on the road we put in the address on our GPS and about an hour and a half got off at the Todi exit. Somehow we ended up driving (following our GPS) all over the area without any luck. We finally found a 'saint' that called the hotel and they arranged to meet us just outside of Todi promising to send someone to guide us to the property. We finally arrived, got settled, had a wonderful meal and were able to get to sleep.
The evening meal was very good but somewhat limited for a vegetarian. Breakfast had an excellent variety of foods.
We were very thankful for the staffs willingness to come and 'find' us or we'd never found the hotel. We had expected it to be a little closer to the town of Todi but it all worked out.
The property certainly has all the 'old world' charm, and all the staff were most helpful. Our room was very comfortable, quiet, and cozy.
The drive to Todi was about 10 minutes and having your own transportation would be necessary to stay here.
A lovely place and I'd definitely stay again.

The place was beautiful. The artwork made us happy. The food was amazing! Staff was wonderful, kind and helpful. We are so glad we booked our stay here. Thanks for letting us use the corner in the restaurant for our planning of more of our trip!!

Le camere sono molto belle e curate, ampio il bagno e sanitari nuovi, colazione un po' scarsa

Siamo stati due notti in questa struttura dove siamo stati benissimo, coccolati, personale molto gentile. Abbiamo cenato in struttura le due sere in cui siamo stati ed avviamo mangiato benissimo, cibo di qualità e molto curato. l'atmosfera famigliare e confortevole. Ringrazio tutto lo staff e se capiteremo nuovamente in Umbria, sarà il nostro punto di riferimento. Lo consiglio.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour. Un vrai accueil chaleureux. Une très belle chambre dans un édifice historique. Petit déjeuner très correct

Grounds need attention

As we were leaving, my wife said, “This was the loveliest hotel we’ve ever stayed at.” And we’ve stayed at a lot of hotels. Have a glass of wine sitting outside among the roses. Enjoy a particularly delicious breakfast. The entire place has old world Italian charm. And the staff are outstanding. Strongly recommended.

Nice clean rooms and friendly staff,easy parking and their is avery good restaurant in the hotel.

On returning to Torre San Giovanni for the third time (3 visits in 5 months), we had used the search engine Booking.com to book a room at the hotel. We selected a "junior suite" which we knew we had not tried before so were very excited to return to the place and try a different room.
We were left a bit disappointed though as on arrival and after going up to our room on the second floor, I noticed (I am very much like a hotel inspector when it comes to these things), that there were a few things not working or missing.
For example, there was only one small rubbish bin in the bathroom, so if we had any rubbish of whatever kind, we had to go to the bathroom to use the small one in there.
There was a tray with a small kettle, two cups, two sachets of Nescafe' Gold, two of tea, some sugar, but NO milk.
In the bathroom, there were the usual fluffy white towels (for the shower, for the face and the bidet), BUT unfortunately this time the shower head holder was left broken so that meant that every time we showered we had to hold the shower head....
And a detail and problem, in my opinion, that definitely needs rectifying is that the main door to the room does not close shut properly so that any other room or window opening on the floor, would make our room door move and bang every time. On the first night of our stay, I hardly slept.
I did mention the shower head problem to the manager/ owner, but nothing was done.
I then did not bother with the other details as I felt I would be considered a nuisance.

We were left feeling a bit "unloved" as we were returning guests and have always rated the hotel with excellent marks and recommended it to everyone.
On the third night before we checked-out, we decided to pay the bill then as we had an early start the following day. On checking the itemized bill for our dinner, I noticed that 4 glasses of wine had been added on the dinner bill, but in fact we had only had 2.
This was because I had to remind the staff serving on the night that we had ordered two glasses of white wine, but whilst our starter had arrived, we still had not received the wine. After I explained this, the member of staff preparing the final bill, called the senior waitress to double-check this. Only two glasses of white wine were confirmed by the waitress as well.

This left me feeling a bit sad as basically the checking with the member of staff, implied there was no trust in me, as a guest, to tell the truth.

We love the place, but I am afraid there needs to be more attention to returning guests and more trust in them.

Excellent staff and great restaurant await you at this medical Castle. Directions via GPS can be tricky.
