Was welcomed by a very lovely male receptionist who was very helpful including lugging my very heavy case up 2 flights of stairs, bar/restaurant staff was pleasant, breakfast was plentiful and varied
drinks were quite pricey, room was very hot but couldn't be helped in this heatwave we're currently having,
Lovely terrace off the bar
Local school children running around the terrace/garden disturbing the peace
The housekeeping staff put an extra sheet out. So as it was hot, we laid on duvet with just the sheet over us. The fan provided was also very effective.
The car park was a challenge. We noticed many locals also used it for their morning coffee etc. We paid a lot of money, so it was frustrating to have to park elsewhere.
Breakfast and supper. the room was charming.
A couple of the wait staff at supper time were rather abrupt and when we asked for the water to be replenished the girl just shrugged and never did anything about it. Another member of staff was very helpful and dealt with the issue.
We were charged for two bottles of a more expensive wine with supper when we in fact only had one. This was dealt with, but in such a way that made us feel very uncomfortable. My husband had to produce the empty bottle from our room to prove the type of wine we had. At no point did the receptionist apologise for the mistake. He was on the point of being rude.
L'endroit est charmant et le bâtiment est magnifique. Nous avons adoré le jardins et sa fontaine.Il est très bien situé. Nous avons passé un merveilleux moment et gardons un excellent souvenir de cette escapade.
Most of the staff were very friendly and the grounds are lovely. Very comfy bed and luxury bedding. It's in a great location and parking is easy. Nice toiletries in the bathroom and a good hairdryer wgich was nice to see. The eggs at breakfast were perfectly cooked and overall had a great stay.
The guy on reception was a bit terse and he never offered me and my 81 year old mum any help getting our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs either on arrival or departure. The ceilings are low my mum who is 4ft 11 kept banging her head on the beams. The rest of the food on the breakfast was cheap quality (sausages, bacon and bread). It was very hot and the fan wasn't really adequate, aircon might be needed if the heatwave continues.
A very warm welcome, an exceptional hotel in a wonderful location. Great food too!
The setting and the rooms were beautiful, the staff were very welcoming.
There seemed to be too few staff or a lack of efficiency as you could wait for sometime to be served for drinks and food
Unfortunately we felt the room was overpriced for the level of decor.
The blind was in bad repair. The paintwork was chipped in places and the carpet was stained.
All good, just lost my husband so a sad visit
Beautiful building, with a wonderful garden. Excellent food and service, in the heart of Tetbury.
Check in is 4pm (officially) so could be a little frustrating. No air conditioning in my room, although given the age of the building and regulations, understandable.
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at The Close - very comfortable with a special atmosphere and pleasant staff.
The service in general was erratic.
The staff were lovely
The street noise from our room
The dinner was excellent quality and beautifully served. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Beautiful property with great terrace, we were lucky enough to dine outside as the weather was perfect. Pretty garden with plenty of space for socialising.
Okay so I found the mattress comfortably but my husband didn’t, everyone is different so it’s not a criticism. Would have preferred china mugs in the room rather than tea cups.
