On our visit as a couple celebrating my wife's Birthday it was an enjoyable experience.
Our room was the best we have ever stayed in, the suite was fantastic, clean and large, with a canal side view.
The hotel had kindly left a nice surprise for my wife, see photo!
Joshua in reception kindly met all our needs.
No complaints on our midweek stay!
To add, a nice continental breakfast delivered to our room to start off our day was very welcomed!
Location and room layout
Issue with the lights in the downstairs part of the room - they didn’t work
This is our third time staying at this hotel. We booked a premium king room, we were offered an upgrade to a balcony room for £30 but having not stayed in a premium room before, and staying in a balcony room last time, we kept our booking just to see what the room was like.
Firstly the staff are lovely, happily proving extra tea and fresh milk, and we had a complimentary birthday balloon and sweet treats on arrival which was extremely thoughtful. The room was slightly disappointing, a little smaller than I imagined and the open wardrobe (with very limited hangers) made the room look messy. It was heated with a mobile oil heater which did the job, but there was no heated towel rail in the bathroom so towels didn't dry very well. The bathroom was modern and the shower lovely, very nice complimentary toiletries too.
The view from the room was pretty grim, a derelict building covered in scaffolding and lots of graffiti and diagarded rubbish. Not the hotels fault I know, but for that reason I would only book a balcony room which overlooks the canal side.
The bed was extremely comfortable, but my sleep was disturbed by the thermostat on the wall next to the bed which gave off a bright glow. As someone who suffers from light sensitivity, this was really annoying and I couldn't switch the screen off.
Lastly, the room was pretty clean, but it was showing signs of wear and tear, and the bathroom door has lots of marks on it so it is probably due a deep clean in certain parts.
Due to its gantasic location I would stay again, but only in a guaranteed canal side room.
Friendly and welcoming staff - Prosecco on arrival
Beautiful room & amazing balcony
Great location
Hotel bar with happy hour
Nothing!
Good location, very central to City centre. Rooms were comfy and staff very friendly.
The only issue was that it was a little bit noisy on one of the nights stay, but it was a Saturday so you might expect that from somewhere so central.
Room decoration and clean facility
Very poor sound insolation between room, and for noise in street including nearby venues. The breakfast didn't arrive at the time requested (there is no breakfast facility, a cold pack of food is brought to the room with no proper tea or coffee)
Lovely bar and friendly staff. The decor is lovely in here. The bar person was chatty and friendly. I didn’t find the bar prices were too pricey. Will be back
The staff were lovely
The water wasn't hot enough to have a bath, and there was no water in the rooms provided (apart from paid for). It's an expensive hotel so I wasn't expecting that.
Central, canal street, nice decor and room
Noise until the early hours
Room was a good size
Confusing breakfast arrangements. So did not get my continental breakfast. Room was shabby around the edges and no restaurant. Was not value fir money. Screaming and shouting from club next door kept me awake until 4am
Have stayed in nicer hotels in Manchester
Good location and a well-appointed room. If you are there to party on Canal Street its perfect, if not avoid it as the street party noise goes on every night until 3am.
Unhelpful staff. Cannot Park outside/close to hotel so navigating multiple/heavy luggage is a problem, no staff to help. The main hotel lift was out of action for the whole stay; the service lift did not access every floor and was heavily used by the cleaning staff in the morning. Whilst the room was cleaned daily, it was not vacuumed so the floor was dirty. Toiletries were not replenished during the stay.
Ideal location for the reasons I visted Manchester
Nothing at all
We booked a King room here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and also to celebrate my wife's Birthday. When we arrived to check in, and made our way to the room we found that we had been upgraded to one of the Penthouse Suites! We were delighted to find a lovely note, treats and balloons. It was a really nice touch.
The room was lovely, the Bath was amazing. The noise in the evening wasn't too bad, but we knew before booking that a hotel on canal street is likely to be noisy, after all, it is the heart of the city for nightlife!
We would absolutely stay here again.
Great location for the canal street bars. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Our visit this time had the lift out of order. There are no ground floor rooms and we were located on the third floor, which meant we had to take our luggage up the stairs and continue to use the stairs to go to and from our room. Having a disability meant I found it exhausting to climb the stairs but no alternative was available. The room temperature controls were not working well and the room was hot, so we had to open the windows and suffered from the noise outside late into the night. Shame really because we’ve stayed before with no issues.
