Residence Inn by Marriott Harrisonburg

The room, the staff, the free breakfast options. Everything was great. This was our best Hotel on this specific journey. They get gold stars!!!

Location was good, price was reasonable. Breakfast was a little disappointing. I am used to the daily fresh cooked breakfasts from the Marriott Hotel chains, but it seems they are all resorting to prepared and frozen foods to save on cost and prep time.

Had a wonderful stay at this well-operated property. The customer service at this property was especially top notch, making an already comfortable stay that much better.

I was especially blown away by the exceptional guest relations/customer service provided by Arlette at the front desk - she really went out of her way to make us feel welcome!

Clean and comfortable. Good location. Pleasant and friendly staff.

The room was bigger than I thought and pretty clean: The bed was made sloppy but it worked. It was cool there was a kitchenette and separate bathroom area.

Excellent location, excellent facility, excellent staff. Only thing I think could be improved was bed comfort. They were firm for my liking and the pillows were also. Other than that great place

Room very comfortable and spacious

Check-in at the Residence Inn Harrisonburg, VA approx 5:30pm on 4/30 was terrific. Check-out at 8:00am on 5/1 was highly unsatisfactory. I was offered a different room and lower room rate at check-in. I accepted the offer and was grateful for the staff person who suggested it. The next morning, I saw my bill and discovered I was billed the higher rate. I asked the morning desk clerk about this. He said he would check with his manager (who was not currently available). I received an updated email later in the day (after I had long departed) with a bill for the exact same higher rare. There was no explanation regarding why the lower rare was not honored. I felt like I was either shooed away from the front desk in the morning so that they did not have to engage me in person with a negative response, or that the morning desk staff did a poor job of relaying my concern and ensuring appropriate customer service follow through. Either way I am left with a negative feeling from this Marriott location. It was very atypical compared to my previous experiences at numerous other Marriott sites.

The hotel was neat, clean, and seemed relatively new. I can't comment on the breakfast, only because my event started at 7am so breakfast (also at 7am) was too late for me to take advantage of it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I was having computer problems with my laptop they printed the cue sheet for me to take on my ride.

For a night on the road, the hotel is well back from the Interstate and pretty much the rest of business area, shops etc

Great location is going to see a college football game. Lots of restaurants close and some even in walking distance Rooms very clean, good amenities. Breakfast very good. Quite. Bedding comfortable

Overpriced for the quality

I’m a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member and booked a 1-bedroom, 2-queen suite over six weeks in advance (Feb 11 for a March 28 stay), so I came in with reasonable expectations.

Check-in was polite, but that’s about where the positives end.

- No acknowledgment of elite benefits beyond the basics — no welcome offering, snacks, or even a mention of options
- Assigned a first-floor room despite my profile preference for upper floors
- Told the hotel was completely sold out and no changes were possible

The bigger issue: the room itself.

- We were placed in an accessible room with a roll-in shower (not requested)
- The bathroom was visibly dirty
- Hallways had a strong odor of cigarette smoke mixed with mildew/mold

We immediately left the room and returned to the front desk. The associate was kind but essentially confirmed there was nothing she could do. She did call another property for us, which I appreciated — but at that point, we had no choice but to leave.

This stay missed on fundamentals: cleanliness, room assignment, and basic elite recognition. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect a clean, properly assigned room — especially with advance booking and status.

Great place to stay. Staff and housekeeping is attentive to you needs and friendly. Pretty much all of the amenities anyone would need on the road, and the location is close to any additional needs you may have.
