Value stay in beautiful location
Pros:

Staff were welcoming on arrival. Room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Location was great for walking around the Devil’s Punchbowl and visiting friends in the area. Bar was adequate. Short walk to chip shop which had gluten free fish and chips available at all times.

Cons:

The walk to our room looked and smelt run down. We couldn’t get the shower to work or find any staff to ask about this in the morning.

Disappointed
Pros:

Staff were friendly and helpful, but kept apologising during our visit.
The venue. Close to where we wanted to visit the following day.
Room was clean and spacious.

Cons:

The building was tired looking.
Internally, it needed lots of work doing, as it had obviously seen better days.
Several things broken in room and not working.
No cereals or fruit juice on menu for breakfast.

Wouldn't stay again
Pros:

The beds were comfy and there was ample on site parking

Cons:

Breakfast didn't start until 10am, which was far too late for business travellers like us. I've never known this before and so we had to pay for breakfast elsewhere both mornings and didn't receive a discount.

The restaurant and bar areas were fine, but the accommodation was lacking. There was a lot of damp, the cleanliness was poor and there was often no hot water for a shower in the evening

Would not stay again.
Pros:

The Location to where I needed to be.

Cons:

Room was not clean, cobwebs all over the place. Very dated room, did not match pictures on Website. Pillows were dire, and additional pillows not fit for purpose, with no pillow cases. As a solo female traveller, I was also concerned that the additional 'deadbolt' lock was not working.

Shame it’s a lovely old building, it could be great and deserves the time and money to bring it back to life.
Pros:

The location was great, it’s a lovely old building, but in need of lots of attention.
If we had other choices probably wouldn’t have chosen this hotel.
The bar and restaurant were very nice, clean, food was good, despite half of the menu not being available.
Staff very nice and friendly.

Cons:

The accommodation wing was very damp smelling, I had to wash all our clothes once I got home as I couldn’t get the smell off them.
The room and facilities were sparse, dirty, dusty and cobwebs. The couch had a tear in the cushion and looked well worn.
We had no tea spoons, only one tidy little stick for tea coffee, smaller than the usual stirrers, it broke on use and wasn’t replaced the next day so had to use by toothbrush handle. The sugar/coffee was solid in the packets, so had to completely unravel the package to get to its content.
The hot water stopped running after a while, so no hot water in taps and no shower! The bed was comfortable but with two very flimsy pillow, one each. We had to have the window open all the time to release the damp smell.
