One night staying whilst travelling.
Pros:

It is situated in a quiet location.

The two staff that we did see during our one night stay were pleasant.

Cons:

One of the toilets was out of order, probably due to the drainage system, as the corridor leading to the rooms absolutely stank. It is a very tired looking hotel, which requires major uograding in all areas, especially the bedrooms and bathrooms.
I think they have staffing problems, and the concierge was also the barmen.
Breakfast didn't start until 10 am. Luckily there is a very nice cafe 1 minute from the hotel. They ooen at 9am. So, if you're looking for an early breakfast to get on the road early, forget it.

The staff were lovely and accommodating and clearly working hard but the place needs a complete overhaul
Pros:

The location and the bar and restaurant area

Cons:

It was stinking. The corridors in the hotel section were revolting the smell made you feel sick. The whole bedroom area was dreadful

Cheap Hotel but Great hotel
Pros:

Location was close to family
Members, it was cheap and right on the common which I love.

Cons:

Shower didn’t work and I needed to get it fixed, the bedroom door was hard to open, the smell in the hotel was a little off and it felt old and tired.

It’s a shame, so much potential but it will cost a great deal to bring it up to standard.
Pros:

Staff were friendly, room was clean, comfortable bed for one person but bit small for two.

Cons:

The whole place needs redecorating and modernising. When the bar closed customers are asked to move to another room which was like a canteen dining room. Certainly not a lounge of any description.

Good food but avoid the accomadation
Pros:

The staff here are very nice and the food was really good.

Cons:

This is probably the worst night sleep ive had in a hotel. The bed was uncomfortable, The room i had was in need of refurbishment. just very tired in all areas and showing need of attention, The window had parcel tape on it covering missing window glass, the bathroom window was cracked and the blind was really old and dirty. There was a musty smell throughout the hotel area whihc wasnt bad but it just made the hotel feel old and not really clean. For £86 I would have expected a more polished environment.

Pros:

We only received one slice of toast first morning for “toast and a selection of jams”. Our problem was that the shower wasn’t working at all well and didn’t hang up. We only stayed two nights so it wasn’t worth making a fuss about. Extra pillows weren’t really very nice and no cases on. We did enjoy the stay thought the staff were excellent and super friendly.

Hotel stay
Pros:

Beds were comfortable

Cons:

The hotel needs a bit of updating. It's probably just 3 star as the rooms didn't have some of the things like phone, magnifying mirror, and wasn't cleaned the second day even though we left the make up room tag on the door.

Room on ground floor

Cons:

Very shabby needs a very good clean and redecorate
Room 105 lots of holes in walls screws and rawlplugs exposed, old tatty furniture in corridors

Pros:

Comfy bed

Cons:

A strange smell about the whole place, including linen and towels. Very much like a deep fat frier. I wondered if these are used a lot in the pub kitchen downstairs
