Exceptional Service with dramatic views
Pros:

Our recent stay was our fifth stay at the GH Toplice. It's a step back in time for us and we love it. We always get a balcony room with Lake views that is exceptional. They are updating rooms annually and have been very meticulous with using different updated rooms as models for feedback to make sure they get the best results. We have stayed in one of the test rooms and it's very nice! I have always had the best service at the hotel. The front desk is always helpful and friendly. Breakfast is fantastic with a great setting and service. Housekeeping always keeps our room refreshed and the Spa staff always takes good care of us during our stay. Thank you so much! We will be back. Joseph W

Wow
Pros:

My daughter and I spent a couple of days in an apartment around the lake bled area but decided to treat ourselves to the last night in this hotel.

It didn’t disappoint. We were given an upgrade to a suite that faced in land. We would’ve loved a Lakeview but a little expensive for us. I had a sneak peek at the Lakeside views and wow they were amazing!

Stuff very attentive with a welcome drink champagne or orange juice and the views all around after to die for.

Breakfast was everything you needed and more, including complimentary champagne!

Spa area was really friendly but the swimming pool was freezing. Hotel stuff did say that we also could use the immunities of their sister hotel just around the corner. We didn’t but it was nice to be able to have that choice.

A Wonderful Lakefront Old Work Hotel
Pros:

My wife and I enjoyed a two-night stay. Although the room was a bit dated, everything else exceeded our expectations. All the common areas were exceptional as was the service and food. You can't beat the location right on the lake with a swim deck and food service.

Luxury on Lake Bled
Pros:

Staying at the Toplis Hotel in Bled was like being in a fairy tale. The hotel sits along Lake Bled, directly across from The Bled Castle.
The hotel and rooms were very elegant and service was impeccable, catering to our every whim. The staff were friendly and professional and Anja, Marion, and Dejan helped us with every detail and Artem in the breakfast room gave us quick and efficient service. The food was excellent and their restaurant earned Michelin Star status. The amenities abound with Spa, Plunge pool, private swimming area in the lake and sundeck with comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas, free row boats and paddle boards, juice bar, and the lake promenade goes directly into the hotel. Five star quality.

Charming hotel with a charming view
Pros:

A charming hotel with the most stunning view of Lake Bled. Fantastic staff who were professional and friendly especially the front desk manager. Hotel needs some updating though and I thought my bed was too soft along with the pillows. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and all fresh and tasty. Thank you for making our time in Slovenia unforgettable.

Uhm are they for real?
Pros:

This hotel was something! I had read the reviews that it was old, but somehow I just didn’t expect it to be THAT old. I felt like I was living in the 1940s or something. I chose this hotel as being lakefront and having a lounge/waterfront area was my priority. I just didn’t think a hotel could get away with being this outdated. The location is lovely and with an update this hotel will be wonderful but for now, they should close their doors. It’s not right to have people come here expecting a luxury stay. It’s just that old and outdated that luxury isn’t a possibility.
Let’s start with check in. The front desk staff appeared as tired as the hotel itself. They seemed so resigned as they went over the basics and handed us a key with an actual doorknob attached to it. Yes, you leave your key with them as you come and go- quite a throwback. There is one elevator that holds about 4 people. On getting out at our floor, the musty smell was undeniable. We had 2 rooms. One was a lakefront suite, and one a lakefront room. The suite was marginally larger than the regular room and had a coffee table, couch and a chair. I sat down on the couch and I’m certain dust came flying out of it, as my butt hit the springs. The wood floor was more comfortable to sit on than this couch. Never mind that the pattern of the couch was straight out of my great grandmother’s living room. The room just smelled old. The wallpaper was peeling off, the floors creaked, the bed creaked, the doors creaked… we had 2 balconies with beautiful views yet the furniture was all chipped and there were dirty tablecloths left on the outdoor tables. The first night when we went to sleep, we actually thought they forgot to put pillows in the pillow cases. Literally it was just a flat mess of something in the pillowcase. I used a sweatshirt as my pillow the entire stay. Other people mention a pillow menu- we didn’t see this. We didn’t even ask the front desk about this option, as they were so indifferent. I felt like I was in a bad movie. Like everything was so sad and tired looking and they weren’t actually expecting guests to come stay there. There was a bowl of fruit on the old table at our arrival. They never removed it so finally I threw the sad fruit out. Well the empty bowl and cloth napkin stayed there for our entire stay!
The bathroom appeared to have gotten an update. However it was very dim in the bathroom. As others have said the shower head is in the middle of the tub, causing water to go everywhere and there is zero storage in the bathroom.
The outdoor lounging area was a bright spot with wonderful views and prompt beverage service. The included breakfast was sad and old looking as well. You could order a la carte items off a menu for no additional cost. I ordered crepes with lemon one day and got a plain crepe with a lemon wedge. The next day I tried apricot crepes and got a plain crepe with a
smidgen of apricot jam on the side.
Lake Bled is beautiful and maybe once this place is redo, it will be a luxury oasis in the town. However, they are not first be open for guests in the current state. I am Giving it three stars for its location but really, just don’t stay here.

Smelly room, rude front desk
Pros:

My room smelled like a sewer, it was like sleeping in a porta potty.

I asked the front desk for help and they were rude and did nothing. I would not stay here again, it was worse than a motel 6.

Best location on lake Bled.
Pros:

Grand Hotel Toplice has the best location on Lake Bled.
Stunning views of the lake from the bar and lounge and all of the rooms at the back of the hotel. With its own private terrace right at the lakeside with sunbeds and access to swim in the lake.
We had a room at the front of the hotel with a balcony - we realised that it didn't have a lake view but hadn't realised that the balcony would have no furniture or that it would overlook a busy road.
The hotel has a grand history but is very tired - although I understand that a refurbishment is happening soon. When it's completed, this will be a fantastic place to stay.
The breakfasts were great, and I loved sitting outside with the lake view, looking over to the island and the castle.
Liked the complimentary rowing boat hire to go over to the island.
It is very near all of the restaurants and amenities in Bled.

A charming hotel with a prominent location on the lake
Pros:

The best location on the lake! Lakeside rooms are a must in our view. The view is just fantastic come rain or shine! It’s true the rooms are a little dated (refurb is planned) but we suspected this might be the case and it did not detract from our stay or the view. We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfasts were truly outstanding. However, the hotel’s crowning glory is it’s staff – very friendly, professional and engaging. It was lovely getting to know them! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

An Elegant & Memorable Stay at Lake Bled
Pros:

We had an amazing stay at Grand Hotel Toplice and could not have asked for a better base in Lake Bled. The hotel’s location is truly unbeatable—right on the lakefront with direct access to the water and stunning views of Bled Island and the castle. Waking up to those views each morning felt magical.

We had booked a regular room as this was the only one available, but at check-in we were able to pay a little more and get upgraded to the main 2 bed suite on 5th floor. What an amazing room, with panoramic views of the lake and mountains from the top floor. The balcony on the room was huge!. The room was a big 2 bed suite with a separate living room (Room 502).

The historic charm of the hotel, combined with its elegant atmosphere, made our stay feel special. The private lakeside beach and swimming area were a highlight, as was relaxing at the spa after days of exploring.

Service was consistently excellent. Breakfast each morning was was amazing with a welcome glass of champagne. Dinner we had one day at the the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, Julijana, was another highlight. Locally sourced tasting menu with wine paring was amazing.

If we come back to Lake Bled, this is the place we will start our next trip too.
