Character rural place, good warm breakfast, awkard but functional toilet
Pros:

Friendliness. Help with details. Had someone not eating carbs/sugars and they did provide berries that we said could help (we suggested that int the booking information). They also helped repair my hiking boots with tape and with some tourist info!
Nice breakfast ( Full english, salmon based or skipper). Room with character and details. Balcony onto a big scene with lambs, rural view and real feel. Plenty of natural light (even in winter)
Well heated room, confortable beds.
Did not have the chance to enjoy the bar, but some people were there enjoying.
Taste of the berry jam was great.

Cons:

Continental breakfast was quite simple. No pastries
Toilet: Carpeted! Quite big in space but the shower temperature (long time to heat and variable), pressure and positioning were suboptimal. The toilet door had a window pane covered by a white semi-transparent blind which leaked light into the bedroom, making it awkward for those trying trying to sleep (the room was for 4 people).
Big room (big double + 2), but all wardrobes located far from main bed.

Wonderful
Pros:

The setting was ideal, surrounded by wonderful scenery, but also very convenient for Cockermouth. We had evening meals as well as breakfast and the food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a bit of a problem with the shower, but once this was sorted out it was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Nothing

Overall a really good overnight stay and would definitely stay there again, probably for longer.
Pros:

We really enjoyed the cooked breakfast. It was piping hot, very tasty and well presented. The sausages were particularly good quality from a local butcher in Cockermouth - so good in fact that I bought some to take home.

Cons:

The room was comfortable but a little dated and there weren't any pictures on the wall. The toilet was difficult to flush but didn't present a problem.

Best hotel around. Give it a go
Pros:

Love the place, we got married there nearly 15 years ago

Cons:

Allocating rooms in annex 1st floor to families with children. Noisy from 4.30 didn't stop till they left
