Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean but a bit small. Not bad though. The restaurant next door is very good. The WiFi is the only thing I had an issue with. It was sketchy at best. It was a bit noisy at night but quieted down after midnight. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Front desk clerk were not friendly, the hotel is so outdated, what I liked about this hotel was that it was close to both ADO’s, Walmart and Quinta Avenida… and yes I would stay there again…

Hotel Colonial is not a luxury resort, but it is more than adequate. Nice pool. Clean room. Safe and good location in Playa del Carmen. Programable room safe. Friendly staff. Restaurants and entertainment close . Beach is only a short walk away. Not far from ADO bus station.

Poor Communication
Pros:

Communication was poor before arrival. Comments said front desk closed at 6:00 pm and I was arriving close to midnight. I sent several messages to them before I got a clear answer that there was a front desk clerk 24 hours a day. Also, I had booked a room with picture of a fridge, but they told me in comments no rooms had fridges. I had one after all. Comments did not explain to you that there is an elevator too.

I would give it maybe a 3 stars.
My room had two single beds hard mattress. There was smell like cigarette, a hole on the ceiling and woke up one morning and had no water. Very little hot water and WiFi did not work. ☹️
