Pros:

Our stay was extremely disappointing.

On our first night, the bedroom started leaking, with water coming from the closet area, causing major disruption and stress. We were then moved to a clearly downgraded room on a lower floor facing the parking lot, which ruined the experience and caused us to lose part of our evening plans.

Management promised a one-night refund, but it was never processed. I made multiple attempts to contact the manager, Elena, and she never returned my messages nor answered any of my calls.

Between the leak, the downgrade, the broken refund promise, and the complete lack of communication, this hotel showed zero accountability.

I would not recommend staying here. There are far better options that actually care about their guests

Gabriel a true angel
Pros:

What a location, Gaslamp, Petco and walk along bay to the Midway and the Fish Market. The valletta were awesome especially Brandon, the front desk Gabriel was so accommodating! The room 1216 looks unto Petco Park and king bed was firm and sheets to die for. If you like a tub the suite is worth it. The fire pit on the 9th floor has excellent drink and a small but good menu. So if you want to stay in San Diego and do want to relax
stay here!

Terrible experience
Pros:

Unpleasant experience

Cons:

During my recent stay, I had an unpleasant experience that I believe deserves attention. On the morning of my checkout, at 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday, I received a call from the front desk informing me that my credit card had been declined and that I needed to come down immediately. The tone of the call implied that I was avoiding payment, which was both unnecessary and offensive.

It made no sense, since hotel payments are normally settled at checkout and my card had only been provided for the initial deposit, not for full charges. Later, during checkout, another credit card was processed without any issue. When I questioned the employee about the early call, I was told this was “procedure,” which does not justify waking a guest so early and treating them as if they were unwilling to pay.

This approach was both arrogant and inconsiderate. Guests should never feel accused or pressured in such a way, especially when no authorization for full payment had been given in advance. This incident left me with a very negative impression of the hotel’s customer service.

Downtown GEM
Pros:

This hotel exceeded expectations on the pet friendly scale. As travelers with 2 pups in tow, we are always on the hunt for a nice big dog friendly spot to stay with a reasonable pet fee. First, location is prime near Petco Park and is an easy walk to anything. They have valet which is $64 daily in/out privileges but they are also nice enough to recommend close/secure lots for half that price if you want to self park. The valet team are rockstars and super welcoming and genuinely nice.

Front desk, just as great as the Valet team. On checkin they printed us a dog friendly info packet that was super helpful. Pet fee is only $100 per stay (both pets) and is so reasonable . Our room was on the 10th floor and facing downtown with a nice view. Clean and super comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Room rates were so reasonable for this area and even with tax/valet/pet fee.

Hotel Indigo is an absolute GEM of a place and I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend. There is something about a place that welcomes your dogs back each time by name that makes it pretty special.

Not to the level of IHG
Pros:

Picked Indigo Gaslight due to location & affiliation with IHG, noticed we were able to walk to restaurants, activities and meet up with friends! Made reservations on IHG website, members for 20+ yrs.

Quite surprised that hotel charges deposit $150 per night, which is not on website! Money held on your credit card = less money spent in San Diego! If the front desk gives the sheet about the benefits and tells your details for being a member - discount at 2 restaurants, $15 credit in hotel if you paid a fee, get 2 bottles of water each night- you must pick up your water at desk.

When we checked in we weren’t told any of the news about benefits of being member or given the sheet. Normally water is placed in hotel room or in fridge with a/c already on for your comfort & details of members in tv or with sheet in room. We didn’t realize that we were missing anything & forgot until 3rd day, waiting in line & heard someone else at desk getting the sheet at check in!!

Indigo Gaslight is NOT a well managed location, we were told it was a privately owned location under the IHG. Had to ask 3x before they cleaned our room, we asked the - 1st time - housekeeper on floor, 2nd time- the lead housekeeper was checking floor, told us she didn't think anyone assigned our room but she would get someone on it. When we returned, we asked the 3rd time to the front desk! Not sure what time it was cleaned but after dinner when we returned it was cleaned.

We were told their roof top bar was open til 10p, the bar had about 7-8 people there but were closing up at 9p, was told by possible manager winter hours close at 9pm.

In our room & bathroom you have to listen every time the elevator goes up & down!

Sort of like the Holiday Inns now under IHG, which we have stayed at 3 Holiday Inns in the past 2 or so years, around the time they went under IHG. We will never stay at another Holiday Inns since again. One example is one near Louisiana that was in nice area, looked nice, other hotels around but lobby was cleaned but the rooms were another story - filthy and had issues with mattress, floors, cleaning that was supposed to have been done was just for visual!! We reported to manager & American Express, sent pictures but nothing addresses and no one ever called back from hotel or Holiday Inn or IHG! So disappointed ☹️. Haven’t had the same experience at other properties, no real issues. We have stayed at other IHG, in US and internationally!!
IHG needs to pay closer attention to their properties and clean their places up, not only on sanitary/cleanliness but practices/conformity!!
