Nice stay, helpful staff, and at a price that didn't break the bank!

We are a British family who decided to spend our two week Christmas holiday across in California to try to find some winter sunshine :o)

Here is my review of the Hilton Garden Inn in San Bernardino.

We had checked in on the Hilton app, and had obtained digital key. but we realised that we needed to sort out the parking, and get a permit from the front desk.

Sheryl sorted us out quickly, and efficiently. She was friendly, and helpful, and made us up a couple of physical keys.

In the UK, and across in mainland Europe we get breakfast at every Hilton property, as we're Hilton Honors Diamond. It's different in the US, and very few hotels provide breakfast as a benefit. The Hilton Garden Inn is no exception, you don't get a free breakfast here even if you're Gold or Diamond. I know things are changing this year, but if you're from the UK, just be aware that things are different in North America.

What you do get however, is a food credit, which varies in the amount depending on the hotel brand, and location. At this HGI the credit was ten dollars for two adults.

Sheryl was kind enough to explain it to us, and to help us when we used the credit to buy items from the lobby "shop" which used a self service system.

The room was clean, and pleasantly furnished. We had enough toiletries, and towels for the whole family. Sometimes it gets tedious when you're having to ask for enough towels for everyone in your family, but that wasn't an issue here.

We all had a good nights sleep, and made use of the in room Keurig style coffee maker, and the microwave for a quick breakfast before we drove to Universal Studios.

All in all, we had a pleasant experience at the hotel, and we really couldn't fault it.

That said, our experiences in downtown San Bernardino were a tad shady in some places. It felt a little unsafe in various areas. But we had zero safety concerns at the hotel whatsoever.

If you're passing through, or visiting SB, we would certainly recommend the HGI.

Aside from the dirty whirlpool I had a great time and the food was perfectly priced.
Pros:

I liked the food and the overall friendliness of the staff. They were very helpful. I liked the fact that there was. microwave and refridgerator.

Cons:

The hot tub or whirlpool in the room was extremely dirty, I called the from desk and reported it they said they would tell the appropriate people. I was in room 234 and I too pictures of the dirt and hair that was left in the whirlpool. I cleaned it out my self and reported it but don't know if anything was done about it like to receive a complimentary night or something like that. No one asked me after I reported it. I believe the person who took the call was named Geri.

La limpieza el jacuzzi estaba sucio con un liquid Amarillo y pelos avía polvo pero no importa tanto tengo videos del jacuzzi quien limpio y quien paso ese cuarto no están asiendo su trabajo agarré ese cuarto por el jacuzzi muy caro para estar tan sucio 😞
