Your best option in Tarakan
Pros:

Stayed for one night whilst transferring from Malaysian Sabah to Indonesian Kalimantan. It did most things pretty well. Try to get a room away from the nonstop Indonesian traffic. The rooms were a bit tired, food was ok, pool looked alright for a splash, vast breakfast - but we had a plane to catch. Very much a business hotel

Bien pero caro para lo que ofrecen
Pros:

Las habitaciones estan bien, amolias y limpias.
El servicio de habitaciones es rapido.

Cons:

El hotel en los años 90 seria un hitazo pero se ha quedado obsoleto. La habitacion apestaba a tabaco a pesar de que no se podia fumar. No habia acondicionador, nadie hablaba ingles, no habia nadie para ayudar con la maleta y ni hablemos de recibirte. Es decir, esta muy lejos de las estrellas que supuestamente tiene y sobre todo del precio que cobran 54 euros sin desayuno.

De personeels waren behulpzaam om alles te helpen van alle problemen in de kamer.
De rest is redelijk, niet meer dan dat.
De bedden zijn wel schoon.

Cons:

Het hotel is gebouwd in 2004, zeiden ze bij het personeel. Het interieur is naar mijn mening ouderwets en heeft echt een renovatie nodig.

Er zaten bruine vlekken op het vloerkleed in onze kamer. Het geluid van de airco klonk net alsof je in een vliegtuig zat. Je kon 'm alleen bedienen met een volumeknop (1, 2, 3), zonder temperatuurregeling.

We hadden ook gedoe met de oude toiletpotten; je moest eerst liters water gebruiken om goed door te kunnen spoelen. Dat verklaart waarom de prijs van het hotel niet goedkoop is, ja... door het vele waterverbruik alleen al voor de toiletpotten.

Midden in de eerste nacht viel de elektriciteit uit. Blijkbaar hadden we een kaart die niet geüpdatet was... echt slordig.

Het ontbijt was van 06:00-10:00, en de eerste ochtend gingen we om 09:00 uur ontbijten, maar bijna alles was op en er werd niks bijgevuld.

Al met al is de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding scheef. Dat ligt niet aan het personeel, maar meer aan het management van het hotel. Jammer!

Pros:

Not a really nice city. But pleasant people
Fairly basic.

Cons:

Not their fault but a complete lack of tourist money changers.
Also because a Ramadan there were few restaurants available serving beer

Pros:

The water heater was not good, a warm to cold shower was available, but a hot shower was not.

Also, we got one small towel, and were asked about were the second towel was. That was new to us.

The staff was excellent and attentive.

The breakfast buffet was okay, and you can ask for eggs to be prepared as you like.

The noise was not the fault of the hotel, it is on the main road and has old windows.

Terrible bed
Pros:

In general the hotel was ok, although it was slightly overpriced. The significant issue I had was the standard of bed that was provided. I travel for two months a year and stay in accommodation ranging from backpackers to five star hotels, but the bed in this hotel was by far the worst I have struck for years. It sagged permanently in the middle and meant that when i woke in the middle of the night i had a terrible headache from my curved spine. I couldn't sleep after that. My friend's bed was ok. The management are aware of the problem, and have started replacing the beds (starting in the more expensive rooms). In my mind there is no way that any hotel should have offered that bed to a guest. If you do stay there, i suggest you carefully check the standard of the bed you are being offered.

Pros:

This hotel was exceptional, a little dated however blending to its surrounds and with a beautiful pool it was the place to be and cool off. The room was large and had everything we could possibly image. Service was excellent.
