Nice
Clean. Helpful staff. Quiet location. Exceptional hot breakfast.
Nothing.
Oh boy. From the outside, this is an adorable hotel. I wanted to love this -- and for the first 10 minutes I did.
Our first clue that something was wrong was the fact that the evening reception was supposed to begin at 5:30, and the attendant was running late with preparation. Knowing that we all run late sometimes, I kind of blew it off. Until it was 6 p.m. and she still wasn't ready. At 6:10, we went down again, and finally there was a little food out. I mean A LITTLE. There was a handful of chicken wings ready, and some luke warm fries. And a bowl of mixed chips. No drinks in sight. The attendant glared at us as we got a few items on our plates. She actually glared - then went back to playing on her phone and talking to someone on her phone at a high volume. Another guest came down, and I guess he was bothered there were no drinks out, so he went into the kitchen area to get his own until the attendant started shrieking "NO" at him. She came back from the kitchen with her OWN bag of chips and sat down to eat them while still playing on the phone. I guess it's nice to be able to control the food supply while you are making paying customers wait. Anyway, occasionally she would get up and dump a few more chicken wings in the bin. It was very uncomfortable to be there because we felt unwanted, so we left.
I need to add that during this time, we were watching the front desk clerk regularly get up and leave the desk to go outside and sit in a parked car with someone. At one point, we went out to the car to get her so we could ask about where the laundry in the hotel was. She looked surprised we were there and said she didn't know where the laundry was so she would have to ask someone else at the hotel. See, that's OUR fault, assuming that a front desk clerk would be a good source of information and have familiarity with the hotel.
The experience wasn't over, though. Now we went to the pool and hot tub area. This is when we first laid eyes on the door to the pool area with a broken lock and then walked in to see an empty hot tub. Because that's what you want after a long day of traveling - to see your promised hot tub completely empty and the area looking deserted.
LaQuinta, do better - you must because there is a line of hotels on the same road with you that would be happy to take your dissatisfied customers and turn them into repeat guests.
Location, bed, shower
Too long for check-in, desk staff terse, no coffee in room, cheap towels for $165
This property was very clean. The staff was excellent. The location was great and the breakfast wasn’t bad either.
Breakfast was very good. I sampled all items available.
Ice machine did not work on my 2nd floor. I had to go to the first floor.
