Pestana Promenade Ocean Resort Hotel

The hotel has beautiful ocean view. We had a balcony in our room with an ocean view. The breakfast room where you can sit inside and outside is also lovely. You can sit outside and again see the ocean.
The breakfast is varied. Moreover, there is always a lot of fresh fruit, different types of bread, and, most importantly, fresh juices.
The staff is all very friendly and welcoming and do their best to help with every issue. Phillip and Diana and another lady in guest relations helped us a lot with excursions and finding out various phone numbers, and Andrew at breakfast and dinner always took good care of us and our daughter, and , again, always very friendly.
The most important thing: the heated pool inside is really warm (some days cooler that the others) and jacuzzi is big and nice.
We ate a few times at the restaurant in the evening - very nice! Both kitchen chefs are very good. Dont't forget to do a Pestana membership card upon arrival to get a 10 % discount in the restaurant.
The bus connection to the city is OK, but has a few issues, so we mostly used bolt, as there were 3 of us.

Amazing ocean view, very friendly staff.
Breakfast was very good.
Location is good, with downtown in a walking distance, but also plenty of Uber and cabs around.

The location and view

We recently stayed at the Pestana Promenade hotel and found all the staff very polite, helpful and friendly and a credit to the company. In particular we would like to thank Dalila Rodrigues for her help and kindess with various issues. We booked a room overlooking the swimming pool but unfortunately the room allocated suffered some issues early in the mornings with a lack of hot water so we were offered an alternative room. The reception area looks impressive as does the bar and restaurant area. Though the maids did a good job of keeping our room clean the heavy curtains needed cleaning and the room would definitely benefit from some refurbishment. The dining staff were very effecient in taking drinks orders and clearing away the used crockery and cutlery quickly. The food selection at breakfast was very good though like most Brits we would have preferred English bacon! We also booked an evening meal as part of our package and though the choice of salads and desserts was very good unfortunately the main courses though plentiful were generally not as good as we expected as we would have preferred more fish and meat content. One other comment which was made by a previous reviewer regarding the 10% service charge being automatically added to all the drinks purchased, which though optional, in our view it would have been better just to increase the price of the drinks.

Wij hadden een kamer op de begane grond. Daarbij een kleine prive plek ipv balkon en het fijne is dat je redelijk beschut zat en toch zo naar het zwembad kon lopen. De douche was ook heerlijk. Schoonmaak was goed.

Couldn't recommend this hotel enough. I would come back in a heartbeat. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, no question or anything was too much for them and they would go out of their way to help and make your experience as good as possible. Someone even booked and arranged our rental car and did the process for us which I thought was brilliant. The entire hotel was clean, well presented and we loved our sea view/balcony. Food was good again with a nice setting and the indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam/sauna combo was lovely. Thoroughly recommend.

Le personnel très agréable, très souriant, la vue, l’emplacement, les animations, le petit déjeuner très varié avec de bons produits, le fait que ce soit très adapté aux végétariens, il y en a pour tous les goûts, le buffet du soir est varié également, literie confortable, rien à redire sur le ménage, c’était toujours propre.

Tolle Anlage, gutes Frühstück, und die Lage war sehr gut. Pool und Sauna gut. Gutes Personal und eine gute Atmosphäre.
Wir waren zwei mal beim Abend Buffet, gut sortiert und auch lecker.

Just returned from a week's stay at this hotel. Beautiful hotel with friendly, efficient staff,great location with direct access onto the promenade. Facilities are excellent. Walk into Funchal takes about 40mins,but not along the promenade, you have to head inwards along the main street. Happy to recommend this hotel.

Excellent location. Great room with sea view. Good facilities incl nice pool and hot tub. Staff were professional and friendly. Paid car park easily accessible .
