This is a lovely hotel with really nice shared spaces, a great outdoor poor, a lovely indoor heated pool and jacuzzi and fantastic views. The staff were all really hard working and friendly - particularly the hospitality staff in the bar and restaurants who were brilliant. The view out of the hotel is wonderful and the location is good. There are lots of fantastic bars and restaurants nearby, and it is a 35minute walk or 10minute taxi into Funchal. We had breakfast in the buffet restaurant each day and it was nice enough with reasonable quality and variety. We had the buffet dinner in the restaurant one night and lunch in the Deck restaurant once and both were nice.

There were a few things that could do with improving though.

The Rooms: We stayed in a Superior Sea View Room. The room was very dated and would benefit from a full renovation. The shower didn't work properly (either no hot water at all, or it would fluctuate between warm, cold and scalding hot). We reported it, and were told an engineer would sort it but it was never resolved. The furniture is dated and shows sign of the wear and tear that happens over time. It was very dirty and dusty under the bed which we found out whilst looking for something we had dropped. The Air Conditioning didn't work and just blew out the same temperature whatever setting we put it on - this wasn't a major issue for us as the weather wasn't too hot, but it would be a real issue in the summer The TV was an old one, with limited options, and would benefit with being replaced with a Smart TV.

The 'Family' Offer: At the moment, this really isn't hotel geared towards families with children. The games room is a bit of a non-entity, the entertainment is very much focused on older adults, there are no play facilities and there are no children's activities. The pool area is great though! If you are after a hotel focused on adults then this would be a great place to choose. If you have children, it probably isn't right for you.

Servicen og hotellets personale var virkelig søde hjælpsomme. Rengøringen er i top, og poolområdet er klasse med masser af plads, liggestole og top notch udsigt til Atlanterhavet.

The hotel has beautiful ocean view. We had a balcony in our room with an ocean view. The breakfast room where you can sit inside and outside is also lovely. You can sit outside and again see the ocean.
The breakfast is varied. Moreover, there is always a lot of fresh fruit, different types of bread, and, most importantly, fresh juices.
The staff is all very friendly and welcoming and do their best to help with every issue. Phillip and Diana and another lady in guest relations helped us a lot with excursions and finding out various phone numbers, and Andrew at breakfast and dinner always took good care of us and our daughter, and , again, always very friendly.
The most important thing: the heated pool inside is really warm (some days cooler that the others) and jacuzzi is big and nice.
We ate a few times at the restaurant in the evening - very nice! Both kitchen chefs are very good. Dont't forget to do a Pestana membership card upon arrival to get a 10 % discount in the restaurant.
The bus connection to the city is OK, but has a few issues, so we mostly used bolt, as there were 3 of us.

Nice **** Hotel, we did have a good stay. The hotel is well located to use it as a hub to discover the Island

Lovely hotel with excellent friendly staff. Breakfasts were good, and staff attentive. Outdoor pools and surroundings were beautiful. Only downside was bathroom in our room a bit outdated with poor shower over an awkward bath. Noisy air-conditioning. But all in all an excellent holiday.

We had a lovely room. Views were great especially from the breakfast terrace. Staff go above and beyond to be helpful.
