Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club

The hotel staff were amazing and so easy to deal with! The rooms were very clean, but the exterior around the hotel and pool area could use a little more cleaning. Wasn't terrible, but wouldn't take much to clean up and spruce thing up.

I wasn’t going to write this review initially but so many things went wrong i felt the need to. #1 this is supposed to be a 4-5 star Hotel and they make you buy tokens (5$ per wash) and laundry detergent for your clothes. I didn’t mind buying so i went down to reception and after many failed attempts because of their machine i wasn’t able to pay with card. She then took the tokens back from me and asked me to go grab cash at a grocery store. You also have to pay for Steam room/ Sauna / Jacuzzi. I arrived early and waited till 4:45pm to check in then waited another 45 minutes to actually get into my room at 5:30pm. The tv is super old with no channels. The only thing that’s nice about this hotel is the actual building and location other than that all the hostels I’ve stayed at are better than this “nice” hotel. The workers are trying their best but i can see it’s a management/owner problem they seem greedy.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Muthu, and it’s somewhere we would come back to. However, it’s important to know what to expect. We would be coming back for the atmosphere, but essentially nothing else.

Positives:
- The pool was the biggest highlight, it was large enough that even when it was packed there was plenty of space. (Just make sure to grab a spot before 9am) It was also very clean.
- Proximity to the beach was great, we were able to end our days with a beach walk, which had beautiful views.
- Excellent air conditioning.
- The location was great. New town was a quick walk, old town was a quick taxi as well as the Albufeira Marina.
- Looked better than surrounding hotels.

Negatives
- This hotel shows its age, a lot of damage and not updated spaces. While it was reasonably cleaned, it still felt old.
- Housekeeping was okay, we came back to a messily made bed, or only one towel instead of two. We ended up buying our own soap because even when requested it was not replaced.
- We did see several cockroaches both outside and inside the hotel. As well as lots of ants inside our room.
- The absolute worst thing was the food. The aquabar had decent food, but the listed partner restaurants were horrible. A lot seemed like microwaved or store bought packaged food.

We did enjoy ourselves but we would not get the food package again, and our expectations would be to relax and enjoy the beautiful pool / beach as well as explore the nearby towns more.

It was not a 5 star property. You had to buy pool towels. While it was described as being on the beach, you had to rent chairs for 20€ to be on the beach. The inclusive restaurants were mediocre at best. The bars had no ginger ale got more than a week. We had to go to local supermarket and purchase our own for use at the bar. There were no frozen cocktails.

Possibly the worst hotel experience I can remember. The neighbourhood is noisy, tatty and rough. The room I was given was dirty and in dire need of refurbishment. There was nothing nice about it. The noise from the nearby “strip” continued until 6am (and this was a Tuesday night) with yobbish shouting and “singing” continuously. While the view to the from of the balcony was a decent sea view, the side view was of a rubbish dump. I checked out after one night (was supposed to stay three). The manager was apologetic and offered me another room but I was just desperate to get well away from there. I was surprised that no refund was offered

Pool and beach view were amazing. Plenty of food options at a great price. Would recommend to anyone!

This property is not more than a 1 star. Rooms are extremely outdated. Washrooms smell. AC does not work properly. It might have been a 5 star during 1960s but looks like time changed but hotel owner decided to not invest even a single euro after the 1st opening. Please stay away from this place if you coming to enjoy the hotel. The only plus point is the proximity to the strip.

Can’t be over a 3 star, building works throughout the holiday.. food was poor, restaurants all over the place (if you can even get booked in one)

Our overall experience was good.
The staff were welcoming and friendly.
Hotel was looking a little tired and could do with a spruce up but it was clean.
Our first day by the pool was ruined by a bunch of rowdy men shouting and swearing, hence we went to the beach and never went back to the pool.
We were all inclusive and the food was excellent though the bbq grill at the muthu garden was absolutely terrible. Firstly they argued we had not booked but i could quite cleary see my name on the list. The staff didnt seem to know what they were doing! Our food was served an hour after we were seated!
All the other customers were not happy either.
We did not return to the muthu garden to try the other restaurants!
All the other restaurants were good though.
But apart from that one experience we had a very good holiday and
the strip was two minutes up the road with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.

MGM has to shut this place down for a winter and do a full remodel.The staff was great but suffered under the heavy burden of poor upkeep and outdated infrastructure. Neither of my TVs worked in either room and I never called to fix them as I saw the staff struggling with water issues and rooms not ready. I am in the customer service industry as an owner and it seems to me the ownership here just does the minimum to suck cash out of their investment. They could do a lot better if they updated this place.

I would like to draw the attention of everyone who intends to book this hotel. I booked 6 nights for me and my 10 year old son. I didn’t expect a super experience but I at least wanted some sort of comfort (it’s 5* after all!!). Some reviews were quite alarming but the fact that it is indeed 5 stars made me bite the bullet and made this booking.

I have stayed in many MANY hotels in my life. This was the worst. I don’t want to bore anyone with the same details that were shared already by previous reviewers. It’s all true, dirty, smelly, old, bathtub leaking, you pay for dirty towels etc etc etc… Oh and the noise!! We haven’t slept one bit in those horrible two nights that we managed to stay there. Out of 6. We run away to another hotel and my god the relief!! I was honestly almost in tears when I saw my clean room, nice bathroom and we could sleep!!!

The only positive out of all the things put together was the receptionist called Anabel. She was lovely, professional and actually helpful.

Having read so many reviews of deeply dissatisfied tourists and having experienced the hotel in all its glory myself I wonder if a proper investigation should be done. Not the usual: you write a review and the hotel tells you ‘thank you, we will try to improve’. It looks like it’s all a lie. They don’t want to improve. They don’t care. And it’s very sad and disgusting. Things should be done differently.

Hotel is jaded and needs updating. I booked 2 double bedrooms which in the photo looked like they had been recently renovated but got 2 apartments which were outdated. However due to all the extra space decided to stay in apartments.
Staff in restaurant do not have tables ready at breakfast or lunch so people are walking around looking for knives, forks, etc.
No holiday or good atmosphere in the building. The only ‘life’ is by the pool, which was heated with diving area and slides for children. Recommend the pool.
Special themed restaurants are also boring .. no atmosphere and again tables not laid or ready for customers. These are booked in advance so there is no excuse for lack of preparation. Location of restaurants Muthu Garden is cheap and low class

Rooms were very poor … broken shower/flush / bugs … after complaining we got a bit better room but next time we would stay at the Muthu Clube Praia da Oura… that’s more lively and awesome staff and better facilities
All inclusive was not worth the money

Full of stag dos and loud music. Not relaxing at all
