Nice place, very friendly staff
Nothing particular
Our 5 night stay at Le Meridien was nice. The hotel is very centrally located, the rooms were nice and clean, and everything had a touch of "french class". Would stay again.
However, guests should be aware of the following annoyances which came as a surprise. The highly advertised and pictured restaurant and lounge Saril, is closed for renovation as well as half of the lobby. Breakfast and lunch was still served in a large conference room but choices were limited since there was no kitchen on that floor. Dinner was in a separate and different floor conference room and was a bit small. Although the hotel was doing their best given the circumstances, it should have been noted when we made the reservations and paid extra for a food package. There was no mention of the conditions when we made the reservations. The second big surprise was that there was a city wide shutdown of water Friday evening and all day Saturday. We found out later that this planned shutdown was advertised in advance by the city so that residents and hotels could plan for it with water tanks to flush toilets and take showers. Le Meridien apparently did not get the "memo". I fault management for not preparing, not even their own employees knew. Thus, mass confusion at the front desk with no explanation as to why no water for 24 hours. We eventually went to the pool to gather water in a garbage can so that we could at least flush our toilet! The hotel can not be faulted for the city wide shutdown of water but it says something about the management that there was no preparation for it. We talked with other guests at other hotels and they were aware it was coming and they had limited water that the hotel supplied from backup sources.
Bedroom, breakfast and the staff are very good.
The price is high for what it offers.
Bussiness lounge is barely enough to work a couple hours.
Breakfast has many options, but sometimes you get stuck thinking that 'something is missing'. Some of them you need to order.
We spent one night at the hotel before continuing on to travel in Panama. The location overlooking the Bay of Panama was lovely. We didn't try the restaurant but it looked really nice. Our room wasn't ready when we checked in, so the hotel stored our luggage while we toured the old city. To our delight we discovered we were upgraded to a suite upon our return to the hotel. The staff were all very helpful and gracious. We appreciated the complimentary bottles of water.
El desayuno y todo muy bien
Nada
Such a shame. The hotel is perfectly located and the rooms are so spacious. Unfortunately the hotel is a relic. We changed rooms 3 times due to horrible musty smells. The rooms have dehumidifiers which when full need to be emptied. We finally got a room without the odor but the decor is so dated. Furniture was nicked and carpet stained. The hotel is in dire need of tlc.
Rooms and location are good. Hotel seems old and not worth the price though. Telephone at the room not working, restaurant and bar are empty with poor service, and more importantly, the breakfast did not meet the expectations for the hotel rating.
Check-in was smooth, and I was initially told I had been upgraded to the Platinum Suite. I expected this to be a highlight of the stay. Unfortunately, it quickly became the opposite.
Before I even used the bathroom, there were clear signs of sewer backup. The odor was overwhelming and burned my nostrils. Maintenance was sent with a single rubber plunger, despite the fact that the issue had not been caused by anything in my room. He spent nearly two hours attempting to address it, but the smell remained foul and pervasive.
For a suite of that size, the room was shockingly under-equipped: one towel, minimal amenities, and a single small soap bar to move between shower, tub, and sink if you wanted to wash anything. Very dirty as well. The air conditioning was also not functioning properly, and the room was unbearably hot.
In the middle of the night, I was repeatedly awakened by loud banging from above. Because this was a corner suite with a unique layout, I could see the structure of the floor above and saw treadmills in the window above my room. I discovered the source the next day: the gym had been placed directly on the suite above me as a make shift gym. What appeared to be a converted suite space contained treadmills and free weights, and it operated at all hours. Each time someone dropped weights or ran on the treadmill, the noise carried directly into my room.
At that point, the “upgrade” felt like a downgrade. I would have preferred a standard room in a quieter location.
Breakfast was also disappointing and did not meet brand expectations.
Overall, this property did not align with the Le Méridien brand standard, and I will not be staying here again.
Location is excellent, therefrom all to reach via Uber or Taxi in fast ways.
Lobby and outside entry - modern and convinient
Rooms lovely, cozy and really proper, ihallways and elevators had seen better days.
Breakfastroom acceptable.
Prices are sometimes a little too high for this (semi) 5 star Hotel
Clean and proper - Barthrooms very clean and a pleasure to be in
Noise Level: Loud room door when opend and closed
Service is fine - especially the valet parking
Amenities are available and good - thooth brushes and cream are fine
