I stayed at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel from July 31 to August 1 and paid approximately €2,300 for a room with a balcony, including breakfast.

Unfortunately, I feel it is important to warn other travelers to think carefully before choosing this hotel.

There is no doubt that this is a beautiful historic property with an incredible setting, and I fully respect the history of the place. However, when a hotel carries the Anantara name and charges prices at this level, I expect a completely different standard of cleanliness, maintenance, service, and overall experience.

When we first entered our room, we found a used bar of soap left behind by the previous guests, which immediately raised serious questions about how carefully the room had been cleaned. The bidet shower next to the toilet was also completely out of order. This was room 709 — I hope the hotel management takes note of this and finally fixes it.

Shortly afterwards, we discovered moths in the room. After expressing our dissatisfaction, we were moved to another, more spacious room. Unfortunately, there were moths there as well, along with ants. Perhaps insects are one of the disadvantages of staying in such an old historic building, but at this price level I still expect the hotel to have appropriate pest-control measures in place.

In response to our complaints, we were offered complimentary drinks at the bar. Considering the amount we paid and how much we had been looking forward to staying here, this felt like a very weak response to what had already become a disappointing experience.

We declined the complimentary drinks, and eventually the hotel offered to deduct €50 from our bill. Frankly, €50 against a hotel bill of approximately €2,300 hardly feels like meaningful compensation.

The breakfast was another disappointment. The selection was surprisingly limited for a five-star hotel of this level, and the food itself was simply not enjoyable.

During our stay, we also spent approximately another €800 at the property on a romantic dinner and food by the pool. So this was certainly not a case of guests looking for a cheap stay and complaining about minor imperfections. We were prepared to spend money for a genuinely premium experience — and that is exactly why the disappointment was so significant.

We had been travelling around southern Italy and were genuinely looking forward to arriving at Anantara Amalfi. It was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip. Unfortunately, it became one of its biggest disappointments.

The location, views and history of the property are undoubtedly special. But beautiful surroundings alone are not enough. At this price point, guests are paying not only for the building and the view, but also for impeccable cleanliness, maintenance, attention to detail and service.

Sadly, based on our experience, the hotel did not meet the standard I associate with the Anantara brand or with a luxury hotel in this price category.

There not enough superlatives to describe this hotel. Their care for the history of the convent and the comfort added to the property were superb. The a la carte breakfast with breathtaking view of Amalfi and the sea were a great treat, lunch and dinner were also delicious. The swimming pool was beautiful. But above all, the kindness and attentive eyes of the hotel staff makes it an incredible experience. I hope to be back soon!

It was a pleasurable stay with a beautiful view and lovely and beautiful view from our Hotel room balcony on the 8th floor. The pool was beautiful and our Pool attendant Marco was so nice, polite and accommodating! He was so attentive and nice! Shout out to Marco!

The location, seclusion and tranquility of the resort was a really nice change from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding area

The hotel was in a beautiful location with truly stunning views and the best thing was they offered a complimentary shuttle service down to the ferry and the town Centre. Upon arrival we were given a non alcoholic welcome drink and then in the room we were given a bottle of wine. The breakfast was lovely with full service and we were able to order whatever we wanted off the al a carte menu.

My stay at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel was truly unforgettable. The hotel combines the charm and history of a beautifully restored monastery with luxurious modern comforts, creating a unique atmosphere that’s hard to match.

The location is spectacular, with breathtaking views over the Amalfi Coast from almost every corner of the property. The rooms were elegant, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, while the staff consistently went above and beyond to provide warm, attentive service that made us feel genuinely welcome.

The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options, and dining on the terrace with panoramic sea views was a highlight of the stay. The pool and spa facilities were equally impressive, providing the perfect place to relax after exploring Amalfi.

Although the hotel is on the higher end in terms of price, the exceptional service, stunning setting, and overall experience make it well worth the investment. I would highly recommend Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay on the Amalfi Coast.

If you want luxury go to Anantara. Every single member of staff was so polite & helpful from the moment we arrived. Amalfi is a hilly destination but we enjoyed the walks into town from the hotel (nearly killed us to get back up to the hotel!!) but the hotel does operate complimentary shuttle service if you don't want to get steps in.
Breakfast was excellent. I loved eating the tier of pastries & fruit over looking the sea. You can order numerous cooked items as well.
The welcome snacks that arrived with bar drinks are a lovely touch which we enjoyed. Drinks are very expensive but it is a 5 star resort. My bottle of water in the bar was 12 euro & coke zero was 9 euro so you can imagine the alcohol prices!!
The hotel its self is amazing with beautiful gardens & views. You must visit the church within the hotel. The outdoor gym had a great view. We had booked a superior double room for our wedding anniversary & were given 701 which was quite compact but had a glimpse of the sea over the roof of the rooms in front. Great air-con and amenities in the room. Lovely maid.
Would happily have stayed more than 2 nights and made more use of the beautiful infinity pool but next stop Sorrento.

A special thank you to Serena and Andrew at Concierge, who went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was seamless. Their warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness made our family feel truly cared for.

The culinary experience was exceptional from beginning to end. Breakfast each morning was outstanding, with an incredible selection and impeccable service overlooking one of the most spectacular views in Italy. Dining at both of the hotel’s restaurants was equally memorable, with beautifully prepared cuisine, exceptional service, and unforgettable settings.

One of the highlights of our stay was unexpectedly being invited to the La Dolce Riviera celebration featuring the iconic Judith Leiber designer handbags. We had no idea this special event was taking place, making it an even more delightful surprise. The evening was absolutely magical—live music under the stars, dancing, exquisite cuisine, elegant décor, live artists creating caricatures, stunning Judith Leiber handbag displays, and wonderful company. It was the perfect way to begin our stay and an experience we’ll never forget.

Another unexpected highlight was being there during the Feast of St. Andrew in Amalfi. Watching the spectacular fireworks illuminate the Amalfi coastline was absolutely breathtaking and added another unforgettable memory to an already extraordinary vacation.

The attention to detail throughout the property is simply unparalleled. The infinity pool is stunning, and Marco, the pool attendant, provided attentive, gracious service that made every afternoon by the water feel relaxing and luxurious.

Our accommodations were equally exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Lena, our room attendant, and the entire housekeeping team. Each day they left our room impeccably clean, beautifully organized, and attended to with meticulous care. Their pride in their work was evident, and it did not go unnoticed.

Every space throughout the hotel seamlessly blends centuries of history with modern luxury. The breathtaking views, impeccable service, and thoughtful attention to every detail make Anantara Convento di Amalfi one of the finest hotels we have ever experienced.

Our family leaves with memories we will cherish for a lifetime. This is far more than a five-star hotel—it is a destination that embodies elegance, hospitality, and the very essence of la dolce vita. The staff take great pride in delivering great service. The cocktails at the bar were exceptional as well.

Beautiful unique property, quite literally carved into the mountain. Really amazing views of the coast. Modern well appointed rooms and balconies. A little difficult to get to and from Amalfi but the shuttle service they provide is very good and helpful. If in Amalfi, I would stay here again. It’s a special, peaceful property away from the hustle and bustle.
