We booked 2 rooms at Chaweng Cove Beach Resort in Chaweng, Ko Samui. Arrived after an inconvenient series of airline connections and a circuitous trip to the hotel from the Ko Samui airport. Reception was a non-event, and we were led to our 2 rooms in two different buildings, near the water. The room with the king bed was the less spacious, less comfortable of the 2 rooms. The 2 separate twin-beds room was the "upgraded" room, beachfront with a plunge pool on the balcony. A nice feature, but I doubt a honeymooning couple would want the nicer room/view with separate beds. Seems like poor planning on the part of the hotel designer, if there was one. Neither room was particularly clean, and we had to ask for towels to match the number of guests in each room, and to have black mold cleaned from the shower in one room. Outside the rooms were strewn unused equipment, spare plumbing parts, trash, and other unsightly junk. This could have been a 4-star property if they had cleaned up the junk laying around, and thoroughly cleaned the rooms. Property had a nice private beachfront with restaurant overlooking the water and a nice pool area in the main courtyard where some of the non-beachfront/view rooms were located. The breakfast buffet was excellent, featuring food from various cultures, with seating in an open-air environment.
We chose this hotel due to location being right on the beach (and at the quiet end of the touristy district) - also as it had family interlocking rooms which was important for us.
Friendly staff, facilities were fine, location and view was brilliant
The area around the front of the hotel is a bit shabby but it is what it is. We had a family massage in one parlour and also frequented a bar for cocktails near by, other than that we were in 7:11 daily stocking up on beers and snacks!
I had been reading the reviews for months beforehand so knew what to expect.
We went peak time of the year and it was hard to get a beach sun lounger but this really wasnt a problem as we were in the sea most of the time and just left our stuff back in our room. The beach area for the hotel is small but that’s honestly not a problem as Chaweng bwach is so long! We walked up to the busier bits for a look around but found we much preferred our little slice of beach. We were up for breakfast most days around 9 and always got sun loungers at the pool. The best spots were often gone by 9, but even we would just move our loungers into sunnier spots as the days progressed. So in summary - no sunbed drama.
Note there is no lifeguard at the pool or at the beach so parents do need to take extra care with their kids.
Breakfast was average (fruit lovely, juice horrible, eggs ok) but I wasn’t expecting more so I wasn’t disappointed. We chose not to eat lunch or dinner until the restaurant as prices were high and reviews not brilliant so we ate out every night.
Wishes: I wish they recycled here and I wished they would get the cat colony neutered as we saw some really thin kittens and a thin pregnant mum who we fed daily with sachets from 7/11.
Best bits:
Friendly helpful staff, amazing view from breakfast, tucked away from the madness of central samui
Hotel management at first placed us in rooms right at entrance. One door lock wouldn't work. They quickly repaired.. but in interim I suggested better rooms.. they then gave us a good family interleaging room that was available. My point they are helpful and lucky it was available otherwise original room location would of created negative experience.
Location of resort grear away from noise of main Chaweng.
Rooms have what you need.
Restaurant and breakfast very good. Beautiful beach view.
Staff are all brilliant!
This is our second time staying at Chaweng Cove and we happy with our balcony room once again. More storage in the rooms re bedside cabinets etc would be handy for those travellers staying a week or more.
Breakfast is your normal buffet selection of food, something for everyone however it would be good if NON-SMOKING areas were established as we certainly got sick of sitting amongst the smokers who just think it is ok to light up where ever and whenever they choose, not just here but at ALL eating establishments in Thailand.
Chaweng Cove is a good property for the price, lots of eating places at the doorstep and massage options with a 7Eleven right next door which was handy. Shopping is not as good as previous years (pre covid days) but there is still a few shops around.
Great stay, rooms have everything you need and even provide towels for pool and beach in a handy bag. Food was good breakfast you can have fresh omelette along with cereals and continental as well as rice etc. we stayed for the evening bbq and fire show which was fab. Daily happy hour which is great as you can chill on the bean bags overlooking the sea, Pong was really good waiter and looked after us. They also do a good meal deal of sandwich and a drink. Kids loved the pool area, only downside was the rude German lady who kept shouting at the kids for splashing in the pool. Rooms had everything you need and were quite large.
Chaweng Cove Beach Resort highest standard as usual . Staff warm and top friendly . Garden bungalow high quality accomodation in Chaweng.
Pool super , improved dinning area feels great .
Songkran celebration unique and nice experience . definitely come back in 2026 with pleasure.
The only downside I had was the room having almost no soundproofing, if any tourist is being loud in the corridor or else, it would be like having them in the room.
Aside for that, I cannot really say anything bad about the hotel or the staff.
Over all the hotel is great and so are all the staff…. Can see wear and tear in and around the hotel/rooms…2 free bottle of water a day in the room, free air con and safe deposit… mini bar at extra cost (7-11 right outside hotel cheaper to get there). …Cheweng centre is about 25 mins walk just jump on a taxi with the open back … haggle for best price we never paid more than 50 baht pp
The thing that stops me giving this place 5 star is the lack of communication from staff. When we arrived a lad took our key to cabin and our bags, opened door, put the key into slot for electricity, dropped our bags and left,no explanation of how anything works.Happy hour at bar is not advertised, you have to ask if the rumour is true that there is one.Wasn’t worth the bother as cocktails were poor.Blackboard telling you about entertainment and barbecue lies behind the bar facing wrong way.Apart from that, the cabin we had b15 was probably one of the best situated by pool.We had everything we needed in room and stepped out back door straight into pool. While we were there many Germans were staying which meant beds had towels on them from 6-30 am so you had to be sharp if you intended to lay by the pool,I noticed they also put towels on beds on beach so they could float between both.Staff knew and did nothing about it,they should not given them so many towels.Highlight for me was going into the sea on the beautiful beach and riding the big waves.Breakfast was pretty basic with the usual useless toaster, again it was better to get there early.A tip is to take your own salt as theirs are full of rice and nothing comes out.The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Khao Samui but a 20 minute walk takes you to the lively part of town. Many nice restaurants along the main road and Palms up the town has some great live bands. Our cabin was kept clean and tea, coffee, creamers and water replenished every day.Very nice place with great pools and no loud music disturbing you.
Really average 3 star hotel. Room was large and clean, with good air conditioning and good facilities, but that's where the positives end. Very noisy all night, cats, traffic, dogs. The beach and pool area were very crowded, no beds available. Cocktails terrible, really badly made. The surrounding area is run down, busy and looking really dirty and shabby. It's very cheap, but cheap for a reason. Should be noted that staff were all lovely.
The hotel is a beautifully presented oasis of calm. We had a brilliant stay. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really nice place to stay. The positives is the property itself being really well laid out. The food was great.
We didnt know it was currently under renovations which would have swayed us away from the property if we knew.
Overall, its a good place in a quiet part of Chaweng.
The best hotel in Chaweng . Visited Koh Samui 6 times .
Location great, silent for relaxing time.
Garden Bungalow accomodation ideal and close to pool .
Staff so friendly and helpfull. Food delicious and big variety everyday.
Definetly come back in 2025.
I loved where the resort was positioned. The resort was great, clean and the staff super friendly and helpful. I had a room with a private pool and it was perfect.
Right on the beach, very nice outlook
Great hotel in the quieter part of Chaweng Beach. Lovely facilities with kind and considerate staff. Great aircon in rooms, grounds and beach are kept very tidy. The hotel is good value for its accommodation and breakfast. Drinks are expensive compared to the bars a very short walk away. Many good restaurants in the area of the hotel. Would certainly return.
Stayed here just fro one night. Had an issue with my booking and after a bit of conversation, the property was very helpful and accommodating! The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The pool was nice. The breakfast was adequate and the view from the dining area is spectacular. The staff were all friendly and nice. My only complaint as a solo traveler was this place had all couples and families so not ideal. Of course, you can't blame the property for that! Would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is positioned beautifully on the beach, we had a bungalow pool view. The location is a little walk from the centre of Chaweng, but lots of shops, restaurants close by. The staff are all very helpful, polite and always smiling, they cannot do enough for you to welcome you and enjoy your stay. The chef is always on hand to cook fresh omelettes for breakfast. I would stay at this hotel again.
This hotel is outstanding. Perfect location and the staff cannot do enough for you. Thailand is the best place to visit. So cheap and so much going on.
We definitely will be back. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Located right on the beach and can even have a massage whilst watching the sea come in. Perfect
From the moment we arrived, nothing was to much trouble, but that’s the Thai way I guess. The resort is a little dated, but that doesn’t take away it is prime location. We had a pool vila that comes with a private plunge pool whilst overlooking the ocean. We’re coming back for sure.
