Kayaloram Heritage Lake Resort

At first instance it seems to be little orthodox and unsafe at night for lonely couple. However, atmosphere is eclectic. Property is well maintained housing good restaurant, swimming pool, rooms with AC and wooden furniture and walls.

Open bathroom is its uniqueness. Hotel reception is quite helpful in booking auto to ferry to city center as the resort is little away from the town.

1) Not too far from the city....since it is located in remote corner of the city, with narrow lane, kind of isolated corner, gives an impression like too far. Not easy to get back to city, particularly in late night. I wonder at late night if a guest needs a milk or coffee or food for the kids how that will be met by the staff or some medical emergency.
2) But right on the banks of the lake - early morning to watch the sun rise is quite an experience. I was out there at 5 AM, no guest outside, alone only with a company of swans around, watching the sunrise and even little meditation ..wow ...worth the stay. Two days at the early morning, an elderly lady, alone in tiny boat rowing and fishing passing thru the sunrise at the background....is like a painting, only God can provide such a beautiful painting like scenery on huge canvas.
3) We took only breakfast and one time lunch - just ok, no complaints.
4) Staffs are very helpful and friendly.
5) Depends on you - could be romantic, best place for meditation, for painter and writers. Even just staying alone watching the lake, the beauty of the sunrise, house boat floating and passing by - brings peace of mind.
6) Arrived very early, the cab driver so honest with the charges as per Govt. approved rate from the railway station
7) Staff helped to provide temp room to refresh till they get the proper room.

Amazing

Hotel on beautiful location , quite clean and nice staff BUT at nearly USD $85 a night more than double it's worth. No Internet in lakeside bedrooms despite advertising it , toilet would not flush and really smelly, restaurant had a great menu but only one or two items available and for exorbitant price - a rip off really

AC not working, TV not there, bathroom not properly cleaned ( and has insects at night). Very very slow response from the team. Food and scenery are great

I booked this resort for my parents wedding day and they absolutely enjoyed it. Only downside was they were on maintenance for a day and we did not get any information regarding that. However, when my parents got there, they had already made arrangements for that day in another resort, so things were taken care of. I am looking at the pictures from there now and everything looks amazing!

The hotel was really beautiful and well kept. The swimming pool clean and with amazing views of the lake. The room was nice too, we enjoyed a lot.
The staff hassled us a bit trying to sell us massages and boat trips, but that was the only negative thing.
I would definetively come back!

Very good staff & comfortable stay. We were happy with overall ambiance & heritage look of wooden structure. Administartion need some improvement, we did face delay of breakfast etc. AC was extremely noisy was a big irritation at night.

Food was poor. Service also poor. Waited an hour to get tea and toast for breakfast. Property obviously neglected for some time. Pity because its location is very good and it could be a great place

The only plus of this resort may be its location. But the food and cleanliness was below even average standards. The pool is not maintained well.

Excellent hotel with breathtaking views of the lake. Had a great family vacation which was very memorable. Would love to visit again.

Wonderful location and ambience right on the lake's edge. Rooms were clean and comfortable as well as being very atmospheric with dark panelled wood walls and bathroom opening to the outside. Beautiful gardens full of geese, butterflies, birds and orchids. Service was in general good and our special compliments go to the restaurant manager who (as well as being in general very helpful) was kind enough to serve us breakfast at 11.00am in the morning, after we returned from a very early morning canoe trip. And all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Resort on the bank of Vembanad lake. Good food and friendly staff. Good rooms.

over all experience was good. Though we didn't get two things as promised. 1. WiFi which is only available near the reception and not in the rooms. The high speed data is also not available since its far from town. I had to roam outside in the evening to get connected which attracted lots of mosquitos and eventually I retreated. 2. There was no clean water in the swimming pool. I saw them pumping water directly from the lake nearby and found no difference and chose the lake to swim instead of the small pool.

The staff was cordial and so was the masseaur. I wish there was no gender discrimination while massaging.

There was some issue finding out the place through Google map as it shows an entirely different location. I would suggest everyone to ignore Google map for the time being and ask their reception for route after reaching Allepey.

I will recommend the resorts but would advise to make sure to check things if you really want them like WiFi and pool.

Small resort with lots of charms. Good restaurant with traditionnal food. A team ready to organise all the outings and happy to please us.

Overall good experience, access path to the hotel was not good. Location was good...lake frnt and lush green due to recent rains. Food was better, but quite expensive...not much variety. Hotel staff were helpful in arranging for a boat trip in short notice.

Beautiful, peaceful setting right on the lake with lots of grassy areas. The kids loved watching the boats go by and enjoyed fishing on the lake edge.

It is a long way from town and the beach so once you are there it is a 100 - 150 rupee rickshaw ride back into town (and about 10 minutes on a very bumpy road). This meant we ate each night at the restaurant. We went in monsoon season so it was VERY wet and they did not have the full menu available.

The staff were all really helpful and friendly. Would be beautiful out of monsoon but during monsoon all the grassy areas were pretty much underwater so a little muddy. When we went was apparently the worst rains for 14 years so this probably has something to do with the muddiness.

A well kept heritage lake front resort with a fantastic location.

view is amazing, earlier we had a plan to take a houseboat for 1 day but after reaching to the hotel we dropped the plan n extended our stay for two days and took a boat to the backwater for 2 hours. boat was provided by the hotel n they charged per hour. food is average, no fridge in rooms. don't provide food after the time limit, even if requested. rest the stay is comfortable.
