KTDC Aranya Nivas Thekkady

Property set in the wild life sanctuary was lovely . Standard rooms were ok needed some updating . We upgraded our room to a more comfortable space . Restauant was poor on food and service . Upon reaching the wildlife sanctuary we had to pay to get in even though hotel was booked with the reserve also was offended that i had to pay a lot more than my partner and was refered to as a forgiener adult racist to say the least

The location is great being as close to the boat dock as possible. The monkeys all around the facility are a great source of entertainment. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.
The staff could do a MUCH better job of providing accurate information. We were given incorrect information of how to obtain tickets for activities which resulted in us going back and forth to the main gate (~2km) and ended up not being able to do any hikes. It would have been nice if they were able to help arrange whatever activity we wanted to do. Had we been warned that during June the lake is usually so low no boats go out, we probably would not have come since the boat ride to see the animals was the main reason for coming. The food was good but the service was very slow.

It was such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Indian cities. We really enjoyed the "old charm" feeling of the place. Rooms were very spacious and we had a great balcony.
The TV could have been in a better location and the power supply dropped out frequently. Also, no wi-fi in the room. Everything else was lovely.

food was expensive,

there are no AC's and it was very sultry and restless so I suggest to install AC's in the rooms.

Staff was good and cooperative.

incredibly cozy and pleasant. a must for nature lovers and a very nice and gentle hotel crew.

das Essen war sehr gut. das Zimmer sehr gross. die Bar war im Umbau und leider gab es keinen gemütlichen aussenbereich zum Essen oder etwas zu trinken. Bier war ausgegangen und der Park schliesst um 6 Uhr. da kann man noch draussen am Pool ohne Ambiente sitzen oder auf dem Parkplatz rumlaufen. der Nationalpark war sehr voll von reisenden Indern, die über weihnachten 10 Tage urlaub machten. wir waren sehr enttäuscht vom Hotel und preis Leistung stimmte nicht.

Medium-sized hotel with basic facilities. Currently undergoing signficant renovation work, so kinks were expected and did materialize. For example, the water pressure was fluctuating and temperature control virtually non-existing. Staff was made aware this issue but apprently could not fix it satisfactorily.

Location was excellent, surrounded by Nature. Food was great very fresh.Good Taste.

Our local friend recommended we stay at Aranya Nivas for our visit to Periyar, and I think it was a great choice. It's the best location if you're going to be visiting the park, which we did in several occasions. The staff were very helpful in arranging all the tickets for us and giving us proper indications to make the most of our stay. The only complaint is that the accommodations, although clean, were quite worn out. Food was also very nice, with both breakfast and dinner included, buffet style, traditional Kerala fare.

great location, need more front office staff as one/two people try and do everything, good food, nice rooms, jump the queue for the boat ride if staying here, front office staff helpful in suggesting extra excursions like the elephant ride

Location of the hotel is very good ,right I'n the periyar tiger resort and the staff very helpful , but the rooms are a little cramped ,overall a good stay .

This hotel is a good for the visitors of Sanctury. You don't need to stand in long que of boat ride because hotel people arrange boat ride passes at hotel reception.

great hotel except you have to pay the park entry fee every day you go for activities (200rp)
Recomend the bamboo raft trip.

THIS IS ONLY TRULY ONE OF THE TWO RESORTS LOCATED INSIDE THE PERRYAR TIGER RESERVE, THE OTHERS BEING KTDC LAKE PALACE. THE LOCATION NEAR THE PERRYAR LAKE IS ITS ADVANTAGE. RECEPTION STAFFS ARE GOOD SO ALSO THE RESTAURANT. HOUSE KEEPING IS NOT UP TO THE MARK. REEPTION STAFF WILL HELP YOU BOOK THE BOAT RIDING TICKET DURING THE PEAK SEASON.

it is very very very bad Hotel,the room and the pathroom ,in the time it's expensive , ihave changed it to cardmom county there is big deferent betwen them .
