Great location but a terribly dirty unsanitary room.
Pros:

This hotel room has to be the dirtiest room I have ever experienced in the last 30 years of traveling around the South. There was obvious mold around the bathtub, and some hair throughout the entire bathroom. The floor probably hasn't been swept in several days. The bathroom floor was sticky and dirty. We wiped the air conditioner vents, and a black, heavy, oil-like substance came off them. There was even an obvious ring around the toilet bowl and dust on the lamp shade

Great stat once again!
Pros:

Celebrated our 6 years dating with a nice relaxing 4 nights at The Ocean Inn and Suites. This place is our go to when in SSI...we usually come 2x per year. Close walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and watering holes! Very friendly and accomodating staff. We will be back, again!!!

Will be a great place after renovations.
Pros:

Staff was really friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast was great. Location is within walking distance of the lighthouse, shopping, and great restaurants.

Cons:

Property was undergoing remodeling, which I was made aware of when making the reservation. Hotwater was not very hot. Room had a window unit A/C which didn't cool very well.

Not what I expected
Pros:

Ocean Inn and Suites was located in the perfect spot on St. Simons, right across the stree from the lighthouse. It is a very quiant place on the outside and the atmosphere around (the park, pier, places to eat, and shopping, and of course the beach) it was awesome. This is the only reason I gave it two stars.

As far as the value I paid to stay there it did not meet my expectations at all. I noticed signs posted about renovatons from October 2025 to May 2026 and not sure what happened, but it was not completed. My room was on the third floor and stepping out of the elevator was not inviting. Then, I open the door to my room and taken back and the old decor, cracks on the wall, tattered curtains, sliding door to so call standing balcony wouldn't open, my view faced the back of the building with dumster of junck in it, and it just did not seem like it was cleaned. The microwave was old and yellow looking, the outside of the refrigerator was rusty, the bed was not made correctly because the bedskirt on one sde was longer than the other not tucked in properly and part of it was torn. The bathroom I really questioned if it was cleaned, because if it was there would not been opened toilettry items still on shelf in tub/shower area. Lighting was terrible in the room; could not even read in the room because there was very little light from the wobbly lamps on end tables. Thank goodness I had clorax wipes with me.

I was there for only two nights and only in my room to freshen up from beng on the beach, exploring the area and head back out to enjoy the evenings and sleep.

Old Style, But Current Day Features
Pros:

Great room, great location, excellent staff throughout. Only wish there was an additional chair in the room. The oversized lounge at the foot of the bed was attractive but not functional. I highly recommend this property.

Pros:

The location was great. Close to the pier village, shops, restaurants, and the lighthouse. The staff was very friendly..

Cons:

I will start by saying, the hotel is going through an overall renovation. Rooms are dated, but I'm sure this will be refreshed during the renovation. The staff is friendly, but some fine-tuning on professionalism would be helpful.Standard work polos/uniforms to identify staff and have your employees take smoke breaks in another area vs on the front balcony, in front of customers, where the smoke travels to the pool area.Cleanliness is an issue due to the renovations and housekeeping being stretched due to staffing issues. Our room was clean upon arriving, but even with requesting only a trash dump, new towels, and a floor sweep daily, not a full service. We had to take our own trash and towels to the front desk two out of the four night stay. Overall a good hotel, but a couple fine tuning and it could be a great hotel.

Wait till the renovation is finished
Pros:

Where do I start…. It was under renovation when we went. Plastic sheeting everywhere, dismal hallways, floors were wooden but had a gross film on them so you couldn’t walk barefoot. The bathroom was small, the tub was clogged with hair ( not ours ) the toilet clogged up so they brought us a plunger instead of sending someone to handle it. We got a glimpse of one of the renovated rooms and it looked quite nice but they weren’t available yet. Our room had a dingy couch we were afraid to sit on, the bed was okay. Great location but during renovation not worth the money at all.

Two bed/two bath room not worth the money…
Pros:

My friend and I stayed at your Inn on the advice of some friends. We reserved the largest room - 2 bed/2 bath suite with kitchen and balcony. It all sounded like what we were looking for. In case you aren’t aware, our stay occurred Sept. 28th - October 8th, 2025.

The outside of the establishment looked nice. The parking spaces were TIGHT (on a side note) but you have probably heard that before from many customers. Not much you can do about that as you have limited space. We made our way in the elevator to the reservation desk. The lobby was okay and for the record, your staff was as helpful as they could be during our entire stay. Also, I did use your coffee machine many times and have to say that this amenity was definitely a plus in my book and a good idea.

After checking in we headed to our room. Okay, the hallway walls were whitewashed and done so haphazardly. It kinda looked like it was white primer slapped on quickly before the intended paint job we assumed you would be doing. The staff did share with us later in our stay that renovation was promised many times but so far nothing has happened to that date. We have since seen that renovation is indeed in progress now in the Inn. The room we stayed in however has the same pictures advertising it but now the bathrooms aren’t even in the pictures. It appears the room remains the same at this time and has not been renovated based on the photos on your website as of today.

When we opened our room door, we were not pleasantly surprised at all. Seriously! There was a fake, plastic plant to greet us to our right over a hole in the floor that had a consistent draft escaping out of it our entire stay. What the heck? How could you rent a room with this as the very first impression we were going to get/anyone would get? Further inside. We walk into the vast living room. The view of the lighthouse and the park below is lovely and is the highlight of this room for sure. Then we see a folding Murphy-style bed to our left sticking out from the wall (not even recessed or hidden like most Murphy beds are) with a sloppy, cheap curtain to cover it. What an eyesore. A couch and a chair were the only pieces of furniture in the living room and were both too small for such a large floor plan. No other furniture except a two seater dining table in the kitchen area with 2 wooden chairs and a desk with a chair. The base boards along the floor were molded, mildewed and very obviously water-damaged nearest the openings to the two balcony access doors. The room looked rather barren compared to floor space ratio. Now I know why the pictures of the room on your sight didn’t give a view of the entire living room except at an angle that only took in the couch towards the TV.

The kitchen. No stove. According to the front desk, a fire caused the removal of the stove. So it was “nuke the food” we brought or eat out.

The bedrooms were fine and the beds comfortable. No problems there.

As for the master bath - who planned that one? The shiny, smooth tile floor was like glass both in the bathroom and in the shower when walking on it wet or showering was done. I had to lay a bath towel down on the floor of the shower every time I showered to keep from slipping. Then I had to form a “walkway” of towels on the floor of the bathroom every day so that if I came from the beach or shower and was wet, I didn’t slip there either. Also, the wooden piece of furniture that someone placed under a towel rack wasn’t a good idea. If we wanted to dry our swimsuits, clothes (no washer/dryer on premise at all so we had to hand wash our own clothes) or reuse our bath towels, hanging them over a piece of wood furniture isn’t a smart idea so we didn’t. Instead we had to move that wood furniture around in the bathroom depending on the use of the towel rack. By the way, that piece of furniture had no apparent use at all except to fill in space in that huge bathroom. Nothing dried if we hung it in the shower because there was little to no air flow in that shower even with the door to the shower ajar and bathroom door open. The shower grouting wasn’t super clean and looked dirty/moldy in the corners near the shower door and tiled shower seat. There was a large, jet tub in the master bath also that we didn’t use at all during our stay because the nozzles didn’t look very clean and made us wonder just how often and how well that tub was cleaned.

Your front desk staff did discount our room price a bit when we spoke to them about the issues. However, in all, that suite wasn’t worth the money we spent at all even with the small discount. If the location of the Inn wasn’t as advantageous as it was we would have cancelled our reservation and stayed elsewhere. Apparently some remodeling did begin somewhere while we were staying at the Ocean Inn but we don’t know where or what floor. The final straw for us came when we overheard the front desk calling guests that were apparently booked to stay at the Inn during renovation. The front desk person was offering these guest(s) a stay for free during their visit.

Once I returned home from the vacation in St. Simon at the Ocean Inn, I received an inquiry from your guest services to rate our stay/give feedback. So I wrote back outlining (in even more detail) how unsatisfied my friend and I were with the room we paid for. I never received a response from guest services. Oddly, I continued to get text messages periodically from the Ocean Inn asking for consideration in staying at the Ocean Inn again. I finally began deleting the texts until I saw the one I got today. Thinking I would make one more effort to “speak my peace”, I am sending this to you now. If you don’t respond, your customer service is as bad as our room was. If you continue to send texts asking me to reconsider returning to your establishment, what is our incentive? I gave a 2 star rating because of the fantastic view from that room and the wonderful location of the Inn to downtown, restaurants, the beach, etc.
