Easy parking . Lovely common areas lounge bar , lounge ,dining room and reception. Staff all wonderfull could not be more helpfull. Our room let it down a little(17). Window would not open so reported Wednesday not fixed left sunday, Water pressure non existent but room very clean.and lovely biscuits.
Staff brilliant, nothing too much trouble. Room a little run down. Not great looking out of the window seeing a burnt building.
What a lovely staff, Hannah, Jack and the nice South African chap. Lovely two days, thank you. A charming village hamlet.
This overnight was a Xmas present for my brother and his wife, they enjoyed the dinner and breakfast said it was lovely the room was above the reception. Unfortunately even with the radiator on the room was very cold ❄️. This was a little off putting but apart from that the stay was enjoyable.
Love the renovations that have been taking place at the Popinjay as I stayed last year prior to new owners. Lovely and very accommodating staff - will be back again!
Hi it's Christine Dinnie I am mailing because me and my partner have both been seriously ill since we had breakfast at popinjay I was sick just after getting outside the hotel and my partner has been worse than I have been he ate all his breakfast were as I never because I noticed that everything was under cook bar the poached eggs that was cooked properly I have bad runs and still being sick if it gets worse I may have to go to hospital I I can't believe how beautiful the hotel was but the food was a big let down I have realised we left with the room key I will post it down to u we were going to come back until we had breakfast now we have decided that we will not be coming back to popinjay and I will be contacting the site we booked u on as well the room was 8-10 would have been 10out of 10 but it took hours for the room to heat up and the food was 0-10 very big let down
Very clean and comfortable. Something need done soon about water temp in bath and sink. Staff lovely and try very hard. Good ok. Restaurant staff very good. No tv remote but got us one quickly.
Very quiet
We had 2 rooms due to our daughter in a power wheelchair and the wheelchair room was nice with a large bed and accessible bathroom but unfortunately you had to go up and down about a 12 foot portable ramp at a steep angle so I had to help her up and down and also we minimised the number of trips. Our room was in front upstairs and small with only a 4'6" double bed and thin mattress so did not really sleep well. But the stay was positive as the staff was excellent and treated my daughter as everyone else and the food and drink were superior as well so minor issues but definitely would stay again as perfect location to stay to visit Edinburgh/Glasgow area.
My stay here was enjoyable because of the friendliness of the staff. With the open door policy we could come and go whenever we pleased, we were out very late ( 3-4am ). Checking in and out were made simple so no long waits compared to the big chain hotels.
The only downsides were problems getting wifi in the rooms ( which the hotel was trying to fix ) and the lack of a spa/swimming pool because of a recent fire
The food was excellent and meal times cater for the early risers or late sleepers.
Overall my stay was well up to what I expected and I would/am definitely coming back.
This hotel has seen better days. The evening meal was very good, the breakfast average, with limited pastries and no preserves. The bedroom was dark with very poor and tired furniture, bathroom cramped. The window frame was rotted and difficult to open.
Excellent size of four-poster room and bathroom.
Average at best. Only informed about the fact they were not serving evening meals after making the booking. Room was very noisy. Thin windows meant traffic noise was like sitting in a tent next to a motorway. There were also dirty towels in my room.
Nice and clean property with good view.
Staff friendly and very helpful, room needs an update and attention to detail , single glazing windows which need attention urgently, and cold drafts and traffic noise, carpet needs replaced.
First time staying here to meet some old friends - only thing I would change was the room was very cold and button missing from toilet.
Staff were great and breakfast excellent. Would definitely stay again.
Staff very helpful & friendly
