I love this hotel!
Pros:

I loved this hotel--well-kept and perfectly atmospheric, with fun decor and amazing wooden doors and windows in the room. So fun to sit out on the tiny balcony and watch the foot traffic. Light sleepers should absolutely bring earplugs. I would definitely come back.

Cons:

Probably time for the hotel to spring for new, fluffy pillows and towels.

Pros:

Location was right in old town.

Cons:

Elevator noise! It was extremely loud (and constant) and hotel was not able to change our room after we complained. They provided earplugs, so hotel was well aware of the issue. Beware!

There’s a lot to like about this hotel, but also a bit to dislike
Pros:

Cute and quirky hotel in a phenomenal location. The rooms without windows are very well lit and though small, perfectly fine for a solo traveller with just carry on (however you would struggle to fit much more than that which isn’t ideal for couples of long stay guests). Casablanca Hotel is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of Old San Juan.

Cons:

This hotel has so much potential but it’s just slightly missing the mark overall. The rooms are clean enough but not thoroughly clean - stains on towels and shower curtains, hair still in shower etc. The sink in my bathroom was partially clogged and reception fixed it immediately only for it to clog again the next day. All of these issues are fixable with a bit of extra attention and I hope they do, because it could truly be a lovely hotel.
HOWEVER - do NOT stay in an interior room adjacent to the lift. This would only impact a few rooms but is significant enough an issue that I would not stay here again if the only room available was next to the lift. The lift is old and squeals LOUDLY every time it moves before emitting a shrill beep whenever it reaches the desired floor. The lift is set up in a way that you will hear this every time the lift moves no matter what floor it is on and earplugs (helpfully provided by reception) only help a bit. This made for a very disruptive sleep. I did hear from other guests that their rooms were lovely and quiet so this will only impact certain rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, choose wisely.
