Bed was comfortable
Hotel needs decorating and cleaning. There was a large party going on meaning it was incredibly loud. We spent £100 in the restaurant but was not allowed to stay for a drink. Party going on outside our room at 1.30 am . Coffee machine didn't work for breakfast. Overall. Very expensive and a poor run down and nothing relaxing about it. Expensive for what it offered. Would definately not recommend 😕
House keeper was very responsive when we complained.
Restaurant was full of loud Scottish yobs from hs 2, because tye hotel is now a contractord hostel. Room hadn't been cleaned properly on arrival, 2 used milks, only 1 teabag. Bed not made in the day, restaurant staff chatting between themselves instead of looking after customers. Insufficient bar staff, low quality drinks, no Port, everything over priced. Pool ad spa area needs renovating, chunks out of steam room wall. General run down. Barely 3 star. Go elsewhere.
Lovely room, nice bar and restaurant, and nice spa facilities
Väga hea kohv, puudus põhjamaalasele vajalik kala valik ja omletti ei pakuta - ainult praemuna.
Restorani menüü vajaks vaheldust. Teenindus meeldiv.
Lovely evening meal at the on site pub. Room was well provisioned and clean. Breakfast was basic but good choices and quiet at the time we visited. Pool facilities were a real bonus.
Pool area needed a refresh, with some tiles missing in the pool and limits on children using the pool in the evening.
An absolutely beautiful hotel. Our room was stunning! Large room, large bed, comfy chairs, opulent, feather cushions, huge bathroom with spa style lighting, Yorkshire tea and Nescafe, Border biscuits, bottled water in the fridge, a nice view of the gardens/ golf course.
Extremely friendly staff: in reception, the bar, the restaurant, the cleaning staff.
Although the food was a little bit 'run of the mill' it was OK. We only had starters on the Friday as it was late when we arrived.
Breakfast was plentiful and tasty AND warm.... not hot, as I like my food, but it was warm, whereas in many places, the buffet food is always cold.
We ate again in the restaurant on Saturday evening. It was OK. Not the best food I've eaten, but also not the worst!
The hotel is a bit out of the way, with not much else around, so if you want to have a drink or two, the best thing is to eat at the hotel.
We went into the spa/pool/sauna. Not the greatest we've been to, but it's a good touch that the price we paid for our stay included access to the spa for the whole of our stay. That's something you don't see very often!
That's the positives......
Now for the negatives...
After food on the Friday we moved into the Bar76 (think that's what it is called) for further drinks and I fancied a cocktail. It was just before 10.30, and there was a private event in the room next door whose clients were also using the bar in Bar76. My husband was told that I couldn't have a cocktail because, and I quote: "the guy that makes them has gone home". Strange, when there is a large party next door, but ok. Wine it was!
We aren't scruffs. Even if we request our room be tended to, we still straighten the duvet.
We arrived back from our day out on Saturday to discover that, although the cleaner had been in, the bed hadn't been made: just the duvet had been straightened even more and the throw was placed on the bed. The sheet, pillows and cushions had been untouched.
The tea and coffee weren't replenished. The milk was, but not the tea and coffee. Oh, and the biscuits were also replenished, even IF they WERE left on the side of the bath....??? Make that make sense!!
As already mentioned, we ate again in the restaurant, Hathaways, and went into Bar76 for cocktails and beer when we had finished, maybe around 9pm.
My husband was served a beer and a cocktail. We had 2 rounds of the same drink. At 10.05 we decided to have our last drink of the night and my husband again went to the bar and ordered. He was served his beer without a problem, but they couldn't do a cocktail..... just can't 25 minutes since the last one....?
Confused, I went to ask the girls why couldn't they do me a cocktail. One said it was because they were short staffed and the other said it was because they had washed the cocktail making equipment up and put it away. They spoke in unison. My next question obviously was "well which is it? A staffing issue or because you've cleaned up?". At that point one of the girls went to serve another customer, which I was NOT happy about and told her so.
Comfortable bed nice surrondings
The spa area was tatty and there were no cubicles to change in
The breakfast and the spa
The decorating on some of the doors looked a bit worn and chipped
Comfortable and well located
Swimming pool was closed which we’d intended on using every day.
The rooms are also very tired and in need of an uplift.
Comfortable nights accommodation. Swimming pool / jacuzzi and sauna were nice additions to have. Dinner in the restaurant was pub food and was perfectly acceptable. Kids ate free which was a bonus. Friendly staff.
The rooms are all on the ground floor which generally try and avoid.
Breakfast was lovely, I like every thing about the hotel
More things to do just golf is not enough
