This was my first trip outside of the US, and our stay at the Leonard was wonderful. They were under going some remodeling so there was some construction and lots of activity in the lobby area. This did not hinder our stay in anyway.
We were close to so many shops and restaurants, and Hyde Park
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They were friendly, courteous, accommodating and welcoming.
We would come back to this welcoming atmosphere!
Stayed here for four days! Comfortable Clean rooms!!
Everyone who works there is so helpful and friendly!!! Such a pleasant atmosphere!!!
Breakfast was wonderful! Everything so fresh and delicious!!
Updated dinning area looks amazing!!
I highly recommend the Leonard Hotel to make your London trip even more enjoyable!!!
Close to the downtown
The work of maintenance was going on
I'm not one to write reviews and 99% of my stays are pleasant.
The fire alarm went off at 2:30 am and when informing the staff the next morning, they were well aware of this happening frequently "We have a guest that like taking showers at this hour." Surely one would inform new guests that this may happen if they were aware of it in order not to think the building was on fire. This resulted in zero sleep for the rest of night, waking up exhausted.
This same event occurred to another guest at a similar hour, (reviewed on Booking.com) with the same reasoning that "it was a guest taking a shower" - this was a month apart.
I can only assume it is a faulty fire alarm that has not been fixed. If they had simply admitted fault, simply apologised and taken ownership, I would not have left a review and forgotten about it. However the story was ready.
There are plenty of other options available in the area in same price range.
On a positive note, I was upgraded free of charge upon arrival, which I really appreciated. When I asked the receptionist whether there was a significant difference between the room types, she explained that the upgraded room included a separate living area. After seeing the room, I have to say that the upgrade made a substantial difference to my comfort. The bedroom itself was quite compact, but the large adjoining living room created a much more spacious and pleasant environment overall.
The room was well-equipped, with a very nice bathroom and a practical built-in wardrobe. Despite the issues mentioned I genuinely enjoyed my stay. The location is fantastic, just a few steps from Oxford Street making it an excellent base for exploring the city. The combination of the spacious upgraded room and the outstanding location were definite highlights of my visit.
I was not informed prior to my arrival that the hotel was undergoing renovation work. The main reception area was under reconstruction, and the reception desk had been temporarily relocated to a small doorway nearby. Guests had to walk through the construction area to reach the elevators and access their rooms. The breakfast area had also been moved to a small temporary room.
The staff were neither rude nor particularly welcoming. They were polite enough, but the service felt somewhat indifferent, as if guest satisfaction was not a priority. On my second day, I asked the receptionist if housekeeping could bring a few missing items to my room. I also mentioned that the towels did not need to be replaced. The receptionist suggested that I wait and take the items upstairs myself, but I was on my way to a meeting and did not have time to carry them through the construction area. Fortunately, they eventually agreed to send them to the room.
Another issue was the bathroom light, which would not switch off. I reported this to the reception in the morning, as it seemed to be a technical fault and was unnecessarily wasting energy. I had already tried everything I could think of to turn it off, but nothing worked. Unfortunately, despite notifying the staff, the issue was not resolved during my stay, which was disappointing.
Another disappointment was that movies on the TV were not included and required an additional fee.
The room layout and signage were also confusing. The corridors are narrow and maze-like, and the directional signs do not clearly indicate which room numbers are located in which direction. The numbering system seemed quite random, and despite staying for several days, I got lost multiple times while trying to find my room.
We had a rather awful experience during our one night stay at the Hotel Leonard. Although air conditioning was advertised as an amenity, it was obvious that our air conditioning was not working during a heat wave in London. Unfortunately, we did become aware of this until we returned back to our hotel room after a few hours of sight seeing to realize our hotel room had not cooled down at all despite us turning on the air conditioning upon our check-in. When my husband made the front desk aware of the problem, we were told the air conditioning person was gone, and all they could do was offer us a discount and fans. About an hour later, we were brought a small desk fan. When I went back down to the front desk, suddenly two rooms with air conditioning that could accommodate our family of 5 were available. We were told that someone would be right back up with keys and to help us with our luggage as there was no lift to the 5th floor where we were being moved. Fast forward another 20 minutes or so, and we ended up carrying our own luggage up to the fifth floor and going down to the front desk to ask for our keys as no one ever showed up. It was after 10:00 by the time we actually got settled in our new rooms. This was less than ideal as we had an early flight the next morning. Thank goodness we were only at this hotel for one night. It was clear they were renovating, and trying to continue business as usual. Obviously, they were failing miserably at this and there should have been substantial discounts to their rates. Additionally, I can think of multiple different ways that their staff could have handled this situation that would have been commiserate with the rates they were charging customers, rather than being largely ignored and told the problem was “not our fault.” (Obviously, their failed HVAC was not our fault). Hopefully, once their renovations are completed, their service and amenities will improve substantially. Until then, I would strongly advise against overpaying to stay here.
Location was great, near Hyde Park. Close to the Marble Arch, buses and tube. New Quebec St. that intersects with the hotel has lots of restaurant choices. Rooms were very comfortable but small for something called “superior”.
The lobby was being renovated and it was a mess. I’m sure it will be lovely when it is finished but we were told when booking it would be finished the end of May or I would not have booked for early June. It looks more like the end of July ‘26.
The only thing that was nice about this hotel was its location.
At the point of booking this hotel there was no mention of the building site it currently is, so please do not be fouled by the photos.
A hotel full of construction dust, bad smells, work tools and in one place a builders half eaten lunch that was just left in the corridor.
We requested 2 single beds we were given a room with a double bed and a faulty toilet that, even after we were told it was fixed it was not and continued to run waster through all night.
I could go on about other problems but to be honest I can't be bothered and would rather forget about the whole stay.
Central location, great hotel, very nice staff and helpful.
Rooms were exactly as it was shown in the pictures.
So overall experience was great.
Otelin konumu çok iyi. Otantik güzel bir mimarisi vardı odaların.
Gittiğimde otelde tadilat vardı, ama bu onların hatası değildi, zaten rezervasyon yaparken bunu beyan ediyorlar.
I would not recommend this hotel in its current state.
The property is undergoing major renovations, and in my opinion it should not be operating as a hotel while this level of work is taking place. The common areas are disruptive, and the overall guest experience is significantly affected.
The staff have generally seemed unprepared to deal with issues when they arise. During my stay there were problems with room cleanliness and hotel Wi-Fi, and it was difficult to get clear information or timely solutions.
The rooms and stairwells also have a noticeable damp, mouldy smell, which creates an unpleasant environment. While the reception area is being renovated, it does little to address the underlying issues affecting the rest of the property.
Overall, this has been a disappointing experience, and I would not choose to stay here again.
This hotel was under renovation but there was no such information at the time of booking. I later received a text directly from the hotel regarding the renovations and when Iasked for a refund, they refused. We went ahead and stayed. The lifts were not working and I had problems with my knees. We left two days earlier and asked for a refund, still to no avail.
