instructions on access very good. room clean. Staff helpful. Parking good
Room very small. Very hot weather (not fault of hotel) and window only opened a very small amount so could not get a breeze
The only redeeming feature was that it had a car park
Remote reception most of the time. Pedantic about check in. Arrived 10 mins early and code didn’t work. Had to wait in the heat until 1500. Did not get the room I ordered . Booked King size with sofa bed. Got what appeared to a double. Room was tired. The air con blew out minimal tepid air. The u bend in the toilet had lost its enamel and was a horrid brown colour. The dressing room chair had weathered ripped red vinyl on it and looked as if it had come from a car boot sale. The walls were stained where condensation had ran down them. I complained to a receptionist who was there for a minimal time period. She became very nervous when I raised the points and stated she would contact her manager. No response was ever received. She stated that because booking was made through a third party they have no control over description on Booking.Com
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Location was perfect.
Bed was very comfortable.
Two bottles of water were provided and also tea and coffee making facilities.
Room was dark, we had to keep the curtains closed because it was on a public thoroughfare.
Vert hot in the room as the air con was broken. We were provided with two fans, which helped, but we were in the middle of a heatwave.
There was no light in the wardrobe.
Location is great, all pubs, shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
Rooms are very dated, air con was broken, I only had a large fan, shower was very small. Everything is done via email and txt and when you need someone from reception you have to call and wait too long.
A bit of a dip in the matress but nicely air conditioned and extremely nice staff
The matress was pretty uncomfortable with a well in the middle
Great location, free parking and excellent value.
No staff around due to automated check in and key code access.
This hotel has changed a lot ...the staff used to be so happy and now not so much
Ther is NO reception shuttered down and the the lovely receptionist made redundant?. What saving is this ?
Carpets had stains and new coffee machine that didn't work? Not biscuits ...walked to the Kings arms and spoke to the manager James he was not very helpful saying this hotel had not made profit in three years ?? Had left my luggage in the receptionist area which was locked when I got back had to call somebody to open to get it out ?? Not very pleasant
Shower was good. Bed was comfortable. The room was clean with modern amenities.
Checking in was overly complicated due to my not receiving an access code.
Would not recommend upstairs rooms for older guests as the curved staircase does not have rail on the wider side.
Would have appreciated a small fridge in this modern room.
Location great.
No air con on the hottest day of the year. Fans provided were inadequate. Couldn’t open the window more than 2 inches due to child safety lock. Extremely uncomfortable.
The location is the main selling point being right in the centre of Berkhamsted. The staff we met were also very friendly.
We had a room on the upstairs floor which was extremely hot. Even with two fans on it was pretty unbearable.
It seemed like our room was rushed in the cleaning process. There were no biscuits in our room even though this was mentioned during the check in.
Really friendly helpful staff, comfy bed. Good to have dedicated parking at the back.
The ac in our room didn't work so it was like a furnace - the window only opened about 5cm so no breez overnight. The staff had helpfully put 2 fans in the room but it was still really hot. We did stay just after a crazy hot heatwave, but if the ac had worked, it would have been fine. Decor needs a refresh quite badly. Our room and corridor were much scruffier than the photos on booking.com.
