Lovely hotel, great staff and great food. The location is lovely. Will be returning soon
The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was ok
The building is very tired and the bedroom smelt horrible. The bathroom was very poor and small with very dated furnishings. The Carpet was stained the bed was tiny and the room was too hot.
Very helpful staff, cute hotel and great location
Like the new bar. We’re local and we’ve started popping in for a drink now and then. It’s very nice when the fire is lit and makes a change. We went in a few times in December early evening and the bar area was always warm and fairly busy with a good atmosphere.
Drinks offering is very good from coffee through to a wide choice of wines etc. Most impressed by the low and no alcohol on offer, don’t always want to (or can’t due to driving) drink alcohol but it’s still good to go out. Here’s a photo of the AF wine on offer in late Jan/ early Feb on our last visit.
Friendly, clean and an historic building with its creaks and irregular lines. Full of character and charm.
We stayed for two nights in one of there Premier rooms which we think is over priced we would have expected more saying that the bedford itself was a relaxing and pleasant place to stay I think a lesser room would be better value for money has you still get to use the bedford.
The first night we eat at the bedford the meal was good but for us over priced for the portion size the breakfast again was relaxed and everything tasted good but for the price I think it should be better quality ie the bread seemed just supermarket brought and I've said it before about lots of places 1 sausage for a fry up definitely not hardy.
This is the third time we have stayed here and it was relaxing and clean and the staff were very good and helpful and hopefully we will return even if the portion sizes have got a little small for the price
Breakfast was fabulous, historical style was elegant and luxurious , the staff were nice and helpful , parking was good, but really should be free
The room was stuffy, felt dusty although very clean, my allergies went crazy due to the stuffiness and I think the pillows, a change of pillow on the last night was better, the shower was not hot and the wifi in my room was not good
Very good breakfast choice, evening meal again very good. Room clean and tidy, so nice to have a bath as well as a shower. Staff all excellent very helpful friendly and knowledgeable.
Lounge area was a little cramped and cold due to outside door being opened frequently and often no closed.
Room was fine but did have air conditioning or kitchen extractors running most of time, not too disturbing.
The staff were brilliant. Made me feel really at home and couldn't do more to settle me and get me the right room. I really enjoyed the room. It had a great desk to work at and a very good bath. I really liked being in the hotel. Real antiques including real paintings and photographs. Rare these days. It felt very special to walk through it. And the staff everywhere appeared very happy. The afternoon tea was very good and enjoyed on the big sofas; the evening meal was excellent. Breakfast - fantastic choice (just seeds seemed to be missing even though listed).
Some moisturiser in the bathroom would have been nice. It's unusual not to get something these days, I travel a lot and often don't have room to pack some for short stays. Wifi didn't work for me. It might have been that my mac was old and there were restrictions in place so my issue really. The TV remote seemed to stop working and I couldn't turn the TV off or use it. Again, this might have been me. Maybe instructions needed!
Room,breakfasr
No lift to upper floors
The location is good
Breakfast was a fiasco, although I have been refunded for this, the staff issues are not mine and expected better.
The car park is more expensive than the communal car park next door.
I would suggest to look for other places in a similar location as this is not worth the extra for the location.
The hotel met our needs. Breakfast was good and the room clean and comfortable.
I really resent having to pay for parking as a guest of the hotel. Someone having a light meal would not have to.
They need to rethink this.
