Hotel Gletschergarten

Excellent. Very nice and quaint hotel with great and friendly staff.

Quite simply this was a wonderful place. Cheerful hosts, good food, clean well equipped room, lounge, ticket purchasing options with knowledge advice and all in a wonderful "Swiss Chalet" environment. Family concern for many years. Home from home. However would have liked something hot for breakfast before taking on the winter world of snow etc. Porridge?

The view was fantastic and we loved having a balcony to sit out at night in the cool air and look out over the mountains and country side. Breakfast was incredible, served on linen table cloths with china tea and coffer cups and tea and coffee and milk served in individual silver servings. The ladies who served breakfast were so kind and professional.

Me and my son have been coming to Grindelwald for nearly 15 years. The fact that Grindelwald is the ideal place to explore the gorgeous Bernese Oberland is one very obvious reason to return. The other big reason to visit is to stay once more at the Gletschergarten and experience the warm welcome, professionalism and expertise of the owners, Gabriela and Gery.

It sits at the quiet end of the main street with views of the Eiger and Mattenberg. It has a bus stop outside and the First cable car a brief walk away. A large number of restaurants and bars are close by, including the Michelin-starred Fiescherblick which is owned and managed by the two eldest sons of Gabriela and Gery. We love family-run hotels and restaurants because they care deeply about the business and the welcome you receive is genuine and warm. Incidentally, their youngest son will soon start work at the hotel!

A generous breakfast is included and an evening meal is available. You can buy travel tickets, passes and receive information and recommendations from reception.

Spent a magical Christmas week in this hotel. The hosts Gabriela and Gerhard were very friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. My room was very comfortable and had a lovely view of the snow covered mountains. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious.

We had a wonderful 8 night stay at this hotel in Grindelwald. The hotel was very warm, cosy & friendly, and the hosts Gabriela & Gery we always so helpful in every way, from providing delicious meals, both breakfast & dinners, and giving us information & tips on the best things to do & places to visit during our stay at Grindelwald. We would highly recommend this hotel & hope that one day we can go back there for another fabulous holiday in such a beautiful town in the Swiss Alps.

All in this hotel was great; The room was comfy with a great view, cleanliness. But overall, the staff and owners! they make a huge difference, They help and procure tickets to 2 different visit areas we went.
Service, breakfast and lounge at fireplace were great!
We really loved staying there and would have loved to stayed at least 2 more nights.

We arrived at hotel Gletchergarten just after Christmas to spend a week skiing, hiking and celebrating the arrival of the New Year. We couldn't have wished more from this traditional, family run hotel. The owners, a couple, were extremely friendly and helpful at all times and clearly placed a lot of importance on providing the traditional Swiss hospitality. All areas of the hotel were beautifully decorated for Christmas time, our superior double room was spacious and warm. The dinners in the restaurant were delicious and a good value when bought as part of the half board. We found the service in the restaurant pleasant in the morning as well as at dinner time. The ski room was conveniently located, clean and well heated. A helpful detail is the presence of a bus stop just in front of the hotel. Overall, we loved our stay at Gletchergarten and if at all possible, we'll be back.

We had such a wonderful Christmas the year before at Hotel Gletschergarten that we decided to do it again and we were not disappointed. It was like coming home, so relaxing and with tasty dinners to look forward to. We stayed in a newly refurbished room which was amazing and so comfortable. Gabriela and Gery are such thoughtful hosts, and their lovely son and all the rest of the staff always have the time to chat with you. You arrive as guests and leave as friends. A family run 4th generation hotel like this deserves to be treasured! Everything was really excellent. Thank you, I hope we’ll be back one day.

Das personal war äusserst freundlich und hilfsbereit

We spent 9 days hiking in the Bernese Oberland. This hotel and meal were the best by far. Lovely, clean room. Wish we could have stayed there longer.

No more words, even four months past, our hearts still there, remember every morning we woke up seen the view from our balcony, the people and the food, everything is telling us we need to go back again. I seldom wrote an review, but this one is must be, even I don’t want so many people like the hotel and it may make me hard to make a reservation but I still feel I have to share my real feelings, it is close to Christmas time so I think the hotel should be like a real winter wonderland, we must go back again.
