For a 3 star hotel this is absolutely top
Pros:

To me it's insane that this hotel is listed as a 3 star hotel. It's better than the vast majority of 4 star hotels we stayed in in Switzerland - at least for the things we care about:

- They have 2 saunas and one of them is proper hot.
- They have properly cold cold plunge pool.
- There is a big indoor swimming pool that you can actually swim in - instead of just splash around in a mini pool like most hotels.
- The distance to the ski lift (up the mountain called "First") is super close - 3 minutes of walking.
- The hotel feels cozy. Breakfast is decent. The hotel staff is very friendly -- and in general everything gives off a "family-run hotel" vibe.
- Our bathroom had an actual window that we could use to air out any humidity.
- They have bathrobes and good comfy slippers.
- Free parking right in front of the hotel
- A ski depot with boot warmers

Cons:

Absolutely minor things:

- We heard some minor sound from the elevator that was located next to our room -- so the sound isolation is not perfect. Wouldn't expect it for the price, though.
- The room is a bit dated (e.g. a bathtub shower, some furniture). However, it is still kept in a near perfect condition.

Brilliant!
Pros:

food was great, hotel & rooms splendid! staff was super friendly. Very close to the ski lift. Sauna, swimming pool ... facilities were top!

Cons:

We missed pancakes for breakfast, but that's all ;-)

A first rate experience
Pros:

We have stayed at the Schoenegg a number of times over the past 30 years and have always enjoyed the welcome, the rooms, the food and most of all the courteous friendly staff. The next (5th) generation of family have taken over the management of the hotel which is an additional pleasure, since a family run business feels warmer and closer to its guests than a hotel forming part of a chain. I highly recommend the Schoenegg. New visitors will not regret the choice.

Pros:

We could not have asked for a better hotel experience! We stayed for 6 nights and their Winter Deal was perfect--it included 3 days of skiing, a huge lovely breakfast buffet every day, and a 5-course dinner each night. Also, they have laundry service every day which was a lifesaver for light packers. The staff treats you like family--Sven, Manuela, Ea, Jakob, Jennifer, and Dario were all PHENOMENAL hosts :) Pool and sauna areas were also relaxing and immaculate. We will definitely come again!

Fantastic stay in Grindelwald
Pros:

Wonderful hotel in Grindelwald near the Grindelwald First terminal. The location is fantastic, as it is steps to the First terminal, and is an easy walk to town and the Grindelwald train station. The stay includes the Grindelwald Card, which allows free bus rides from right outside the hotel through the town to the Grindelwald terminal with access to ski slopes and activities in the Jungfrau region. The staff also arranged free transport for us to and from the hotel and the train station upon departure.

We loved the small and personalized feel of the hotel. The owners are in the lobby, lounge/bar and restaurant every day talking to guests, which is rare at any hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful, and were able to answer our questions about the area.

The bar and lounge area was open every night with good beer and wine, as well as snacks. The lounge has a pool table, and numerous tables available to play cards, board games, etc. in the evening. While we did not eat dinner at the restaurant, it was always full in the evenings. The included breakfast in the mornings was good as well.

Our hotel rooms were very clean, comfortable, and modern inside. Our mountain view rooms had outdoor terraces, which allowed us to view the beautiful mountains surrounding the town. The hotel appeared to be be mostly occupied, but was very quiet in the room areas upstairs.

Overall we loved this hotel and considered it to be an excellent value for the quality of service and personal hospitality we received. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Grindelwald.
