onvriendelijke ontvangst, geen fietsenstalling bij het hotel (verwezen wordt naar een gemeentelijke fietsenstalling die echter 's zondags dicht is), veel te zachte bedden, ramen die niet open kunnen. Mooie gevel maar verder is het een te duur budgethotel

Palais on the outside, just a hotel on the inside, limited facilities
Pros:

It's an old Palais building in center of town, lots of small stairs and turns everywhere but with modern interior. Bathroom was quite large. The room does have blackout curtains, and although the windows cannot be opened, there is AC which did the job on a hot day (the air vent can be adjusted for air throughput, supposedly by climbing on a chair and turning the device at the ceiling as there is no device or remote). Seems popular for weddings and similar events, although running late, this was in a different wing and not really noticeable.

Cons:

Good luck finding the entrance, the reception and your room (and back out) in this maze, probably not even the staff ever fully figured it (they give you a map of the building and a wave in the general direction "around the corner" to luggage storage). Shabby very worn carpet in the room with a whole patch missing under the bathroom door. Wrinkly bed sheets, two narrow very soft twin beds with unstable edges. No toiletries except for one kind of soap-shampoo-body wash-foam (doesn't work for shaving, though), no facial tissues or other basics (maybe it's possible to get them from the reception or from somewhere hidden in a wardrobe). The hotel logo on the paper cups (!) and the paper pads to put them on admittedly do create a bit of a four-star vibe, especially given the high-end coffee/water cooker device in black/gold, but the cheap stirring sticks coming with this are a better indicator of what to expect of this place. Expensive even for Leeuwarden, not up to a standard modern hotel (soundproofing, tiny TV, not enough power plugs, tilted lamp shades). This will probably do if you can get it at a heavy discount, but shop around if you are after higher-end accommodation.

Prima verblijf, mega centraal. Geen aanrader met warme dagen.
Pros:

Super centraal, vriendelijk personeel, prima afstand vanaf een parkeer garage. En mooi schoon.

Cons:

Was een van de eerste warme dagen. De ramen konden niet open er was geen airco en het ventilatiesysteem werkte niet tot nauwelijks, waardoor het al vlot een sauna was.

En voor het geld wat je voor 1 nacht betaald verwacht ik toch echt wel iets meer qua comfort.
