Beautiful location, amazing restaurant and wine tasting
Owner and staff could not do enough for us
We had a small room if I was visiting again I would book a bigger one
What a joy to stay here! The location is in the middle of the village and It was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is traditional but with all comforts and extra touches. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating to us. Special thanks to Javier, Rosemary, Raquel, especially Yusuf. We are a family of nine and we all said it was our best experience in Rioja. Muchas Gracias!

Nice and quiet place
Parking is far away
The location of Posada Mayor de Migueloa was great within the walled town of LaGuardia. The staff were charming & informative. The bed was comfortable.
Whilst I appreciate that the hotel building is very old (some parts dating back to 1619) our room was in need of a major update.
The bathroom, especially, was very dated & the bath with shower over was a little dangerous. The old chipped bath was quite high to get into & had a rather curved, slippery bottom. The shower door was very old & all the white plastic had gone yellow/brown. It was right next to the old window. The bathroom was a large bathroom & could have been so much better arranged. Showering was not the best experience.
We decided to have dinner in the restaurant. Unfortunately, this was a rather formal affair & incredibly expensive. Five spears of white asparagus was €24. The beef, which looked & no doubt was extremely good, was charged between €90 & €198 per kilo. Another table ordered a rib. which was cut & brought to their table before cooking, was actually 1.4kg making it a staggering price of €277! It came with nothing - everything was extra & they even had the gall to charge €2.60 per person for bread!
My main course of cod was very good but my husband was disappointed with his lamb cutlets which were lacking in flavour & overcooked.
My husband & I object to being charged extortionate prices for food just because places think that tourists will pay just as much as we object to paying for poor bought in food just because places think that they can get away with it.
Breakfast the following morning was ok but for all the grandeur & slight ostentatious air about the hotel I was surprised to get our jam in cheap little plastic packets & a noisy, serve yourself drinks machine in the dining room just wasn't what was expected. The coffee was not that nice & the hot chocolate was unbearably sweet & sugary.
We were offered a free wine tour as we had stayed at the hotel but as it wasn't until midday, we couldn't take up the offer.
We left feeling rather disappointed.
We loved our few days spent at Posada Mayor de Migueloa. Staff all so friendly and helpful. Comfortable accommodation , great breakfast . Enjoyed the wine tour and tasting.
Muy buena ubicación.La visita a la bodega merece la pena. Buen desayuno
Limpieza mejorable en la habitación , había polvo acumulado de mucho tiempo en algunos muebles y complementos. Calidad precio un poco caro en mi opinión.
