Santa Ottoman Hotel

We stayed for 2 nights in a triple room at Santa Ottoman Hotel and had a pleasant experience. The room was clean, and complimentary tea, coffee, and water were provided, which was a nice touch.

Due to the central location, some street noise can be heard, but closing the windows helps reduce it. There was also a slight odor from the bathroom, though opening the window or using ventilation solved the issue. Other than these minor points, everything was comfortable.

The hotel’s location is excellent—just a short walk to Taksim Square and Istiklal Street, with metro, tram, and bus stops nearby if you prefer not to walk.

A special thanks to Onur, Zeki, and Emin at the reception for their kind assistance throughout our stay. Overall, a good option in Taksim and one we would consider again when visiting Istanbul.

This hotel is in the heart of the tourist area of Istanbul called Taksim. Minutes walk from the metro that connects you to all parts of the city. The hotel is nice, but a little dated and could do with a timely refurbishment of the rooms. Could be a little noisy at night due to the number of bars and clubs close to the hotel. At Reception, Emin is very pleasant and eager to welcome and help guests.

My husband and I stayed here while on vacation and it was a nice experience. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and the location was also close to many restaurants. Will definitely recommend to friends visiting Istanbul.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable, with all the amenities I needed. The staff were exceptionally friendly and always ready to help. The location was perfect close to restaurants, shops, and major attractions. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety. Overall, great value for the price. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Great location and friendly staff. I felt like home. My room had really good view. I like how rooms was clean too. When I check overall vibe of the hotel, I will go back in my next Istanbul visit for sure. I recommended. I wish there is more hotel like this in Istanbul.

A very unique small hotel in the best area. Very closed to Istiklal St. so is a bit loud at night because you are in the heart of the city. The staff at the front desk was the BEST. Thank you.

Das Hotel ist in einer guten Lage aber es gibt ein paar negative Punkte. Unser Zimmer hat die ganze Zeit gestunken, trotzdem haben sie es nicht gewechselt. Die Treppen bis zum Aufzug machen es bisschen schwierig, die Koffer zu tragen. Die Putzkraft hat einfach mit ihrer Karte ins Zimmer gekommen, ohne anzuklopfen.

There is not a single fault in this hotel
The hotel has an ancient heritage style, meaning everything is simple and clean throughout, psychologically comfortable from beginning to end, and as for the location, it does not need evaluation from anyone, because it is basically the Taksim area or Istiklal Street, which is considered a location in itself that gives value to the hotels and restaurants operating there.

The only good thing is the location, it is close to istiklal street.
However, the hotel management is unprofessional and does not cooperate. They gave us a different room than we had reserved, we were 4 adults but they gave us a room for 3 adults. (We booked 1 double bed + 2 twin beds but they gave us only 3 single beds & a foldable children's bed which was unacceptable) When we asked them to change it and give us the room we booked, they simply refused to accept their mistake and they kept on denying. In reality, they had overbooked and gave our room to someone else. Once they get the money, they are not polite and deny everything.

Secondly, the breakfast is not an open buffet, they had prepared breakfast plates in advance since early morning which does not look fresh, the food had also gone bad by breakfast time. The portions were also small with the same basic food everyday, they don't even give you water unless asked. The staff was unprofessional wearing bathroom slippers in the restaurant.

Lastly, the tv remote was broken, there is a serious sewage problem with the sewage smell in the bathrooms, we told them about the sewage smell and they admitted that there is a problem. The bathroom flooring is also slippery and a hazard for slipping and falling. The property building and structure itself is very old.

We don't recommend this hotel at all, there are better hotels within the same location and price. We did not want to stay but due to Eid holidays, other hotels were not available and we had already paid while booking before. Otherwise we would not have stayed.
Our trip was absolutely ruined because of their mistakes and they don't admit to anything. We regularly travel and nearly visit Istanbul (Taksim) every year but this was the worst experience we had so far.

the conditions were so bad with. The smell of mold, the smell of the toilet. The ventilation system is blackened with dirt. Cracks on the laminate floor. Cold in the bathroom. In addition, a bed without a pillow and a blanket. Some red spot on my blanket. At night, loud noise from the street from the clubs, that's because windows didn't close properly.

such classic style decorated rooms with a high quality of properties somewhere you smell like history in a exact position of Taksim while staring at outside from your window... thank you all the staff and for everything...

Location is close to Taksim Square but opposite a very loud music club, which played until 3am.

Very bad experience. Window opened in front of club and bar, loud noise. We couldn’t sleep till 2am. Small room, old building with old carpet with stains on hallways. Very tiny elevator. Broken bidet.
Very expensive for this hotel. Not worth it for even $30 a night. Never recommend to anybody.

The hotel has seen better days and I put its current situation to poor management.

The room was clean and acceptable, the shower screen and toilets were clean however there was mould growth on tiles grout and evidence of previous mould on celling that had been cleaned, this all can be avoided with changing the fan in the toilet for better ventilation and cleaning the walls with bleach once a week.

Stairway was blocked with discarded chairs on two levels and the fire exit was stuffed with used bedding the day I was leaving which is not acceptable.

Breakfast was not buffet but a pre dished up for individuals and no tea or coffee was or other drink was not available or offered to us, I personally helped my self to some squash in a fridge.

The hotel location is excellent as you are only a few minutes of foot away from Taksim and Esteghlal shopping street.

Around the hotel is full of bars and pubs and clubs. We got a good night of sleep but we had to close windows to be not disturbed by the street noise.

The air conditioning did work but settings were disabled so you could only select room temperature not speed. At early morning I switched it off.

The small fridge in the room struggled to keep temperature down and again this was due to how it was installed in cupboard not allowing air circulation for it to exchange temperature.

Bedding was clean but old with holes. the room had a safe but no instructions how to use it.
Sufficient toilet paper and soap and shampoo was present. Sower screens, toilet and sink were clean to a good standard.

With little effort by management this Hotel has the potential to provide a much better standard with better management and little cost to improve, now it is felt that the hotel is being managed in a tight budget making it a budget hostel not hotel.

The hotel is 10 minutes on foot away from Hava buses connecting you to both Istanbul airports and front desk staff speak English and are polite and helpful.

If you are passing a day through Istanbul I would still recommend it if you are not very fussy and accept what I described.

Pros:
walking distance to the shopping area and many restaurants is short.

Cons:
There is no laundry room. There is no iron table and iron in the room.
