Hotel with charisma on PEI (Charlottetown)
Pros:

The "Hotel on Pownal" is rather s small hotel in the heart of PEI's capital Charlottetown.

I was welcomed very friendly by the receptionist in the evening who also gave me lots of precious information for my trip on the island the day after.

This time, I booked a "suite" for only a few CAD more, which is very much worthwhile any dollar. Very spacious and bright (got a suite right at the corner to the main street) with a nice tube.

Upon check-in I also used the small gym which is quite cool, located on the base floor.

The Hotel on Pownal does have character and individualism, which I enjoyed a lot.

Great place for a stay in Charlottetown and its vicinity.

The location is super convenient

Cons:

The moment I entered the room, there is a strong moldy smell, and the creaking sound when lying in bed. By the way, the hotel didn't provide toothbrushes either

Hotel is 2 star not a 3
Pros:

Location was great. Could walk into town in 2 minutes. The rooms were redone and comfortable

Cons:

The bathroom was too small. Housekeeping left a toilet bowl plunger in the hallway which we walked past for 3 days and also stacks of clean linen and towels on top of pins left in hallway . We told the front desk and nothing was ever done. When they refreshed the room they did not do anything more than make the bed and leave new towels. Room faced parking lot and could be very noisy in the morning

Loved location, friendly service, comfortable stay
Pros:

We loved the location of this hotel. Great for having pet friendly. The room was comfortable and updated. The breakfast was fantastic. Front desk staff super friendly.

Only complaint would be we could hear every step of the guests upstairs. There was also a smoking area right outside our room and as non smokers this was really not appreciated. Perhaps the smoking area should be further away from guest rooms.

Christmas decorations were awesome. Really got us in the Christmas spirit. The Christmas parade went right past the hotel. So fun!!

I would recommend staying in this hotel. And we will be back!!

Pros:

Great location. Couple block radius to get food and entertainment. Friendly and helpful staff. Were able to accomodate me with ground floor room, which was an upgrade also at no extra charge. Good value and clean room. Very good continental breakfast. Little noise from hallway traffic and street.

There's a small hotel...stay there!
Pros:

You betcha we had a wonderful stay at the Pownal. Friendly, helpful staff, a large double room with comfortable mattresses, and blackout curtains. Clean, clean, clean. All the amenities you'd expect: a fridge, coffee pot, hair dryer, tv, and some you don't, complimentary fresh coffee and tea in the lobby with fresh milk for the asking, a weekday happy hour, and a nice breakfast is included.
The Pownal had no elevator, but it's easy to access upper rooms through the parking lot. Just ask the staff.
The Pownal Hotel works hard at putting their guests first and succeeds.
Great location to the main strip of stores and shops.
Two suggestions: another towel rack or additiinal hooks in the bathroom, and a room safe.
