Liked the self service arrival set up
Nothing
Breakfast was good, this was at the hotel across the road (Langtry Manor don't have staff to provide this service) and the one member of staff we saw was very helpful and polite
No staff were present at any time during the 3 night stay. Code to get into the property didn't work, the door was unlocked at all times. Code to get into the room was secure.
Room was shabby and furniture had handles missing, broken pane of glass in the window just had a piece of plaster board taped on. the kettle was covered in limescale both inside and on the outside. Tea bags and milk were difficult to replace, we had to ask the hotel next door! The gents toilet on the landing was an absolute disgrace, unusable!
Rooms were impressive, big high ceilings, beautiful . Location great . One lady at derby ( blonde on reception at derby ) was brilliant. Helped out loads
Had to move rooms , shower head in kings parlour needs replacing ( lime seriously a shower head costs barely anything so replace it ) Beautiful chandeliers but dont work . Plug sockets looked dodgy. Lightbulbs needed replacing . Massive cobwebs in the corners . In the first room ( presidential suite) the tv didnt work , shower door falling off . Cleaners leaving smear marks on things they cleaned . A bit more effort cleaning and making sure things are replaced and this place could be amazing 👏
I loved the character of the hotel, the ease of accessing the venue, loads of parking - access in /out of the hotel.
Finding out that breakfast is between 8-9 only and that you have to cross the road to get it. The service from the waitress was amazing but the cooked breakfast (bacon) wasn't great. The rest was lovely.
Was a small room in attic , furniture was nice and location
Dirty and small not luxury at all , can’t even stand up in shower or bath , disappointed
We liked the location and the comfortable bed.
There are no staff and breakfast is served across the road at their sister hotel, which we didn't realise until the last minute, when we received an email advising how to check in.
It needs updating, our room had a cracked sink, a broken toilet roll holder, the extractor fan didn't work. The kettle had limescale inside and starting to go rusty as were the bedside lamps. There wasn't any information about how to access the Internet or how to adjust the heating in the room and there wasn't anyone to ask unless we called the housekeeping team (at our expense). I discovered extra teabags and coffee in a lounge downstairs. It was very expensive at £177 for one night.
I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
The room was lovely as full of history and enjoyed looking at the memorabilia outside the room. Bed was comfortable . Although having to go over to another Hotel to eat wasn’t great, the breakfast was lovely and the lady serving very welcoming, polite and helpful.
No staff greeting on arrival and seeing you to room was very cold and impersonal. There was no one around to speak to. Having to go across to another Hotel for breakfast or a drink was dissapointing. I had been here many years ago when there was staff in vintage costume and a lovely restaurant to have an evening meal- bring these back!! I wanted it to be special and was dissapointed. Room needed a good clean around paintwork.
Lovely historical building.
Not made clear that the sister hotel had the facilities, reception etc. The room was tired, dirty furniture interiors, tiny en-suite, unlock-able window and squeaky bed.
Location is good.
Parking is adequate.
Easy to find.
Room wasn't what we were expecting, website showed different.
Room was dusty and coffee stains on side.
Bath was dirty.
Room was cold as window could't be closed.
No one to contact.
Called number on website but no answer, but called back 4 hours later.
Beautiful building- tastefully decorated
Good parking. Excellent breakfast served at sister hotel across the road
No lift- no staff which is slightly strange but good system of entry by code
The Grade II listed property was as shown on the cover photograph and has an interesting and entertaining history. It was decorated tastefully and had many historical references and information to the former resident and owner. It was in a great position to travel to various holiday spots along the coast easily. The grounds and home and room were clearly once taken care of and had been restored to a fine level in the past. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable with freshly laundered bedding and clean towels and it was suite as advertised in size and layout. The cupboard had an ironing board and iron and hair dryer with enough space to hang clothes. There were soaps provided in the bathroom. The room was warm and cosy. The breakfast served at the sister hotel across the road was of a good standard and in a beautiful setting. There was ample guest parking next to the hotel.
On our arrival, check in was like an AirBNB, letting ourselves in with a code and no staff were ever seen. There were multiple signs everywhere that you had to read to make sense of anything, which is the last thing you need after a long journey. It felt empty and cold. The downstairs drawing rooms and bar areas were deserted. As we entered our room, all the windows were covered and we were in the dark. As we tried to open a roller blind on the first window, it fell off - it had been secured with tape by the person before us. We spent the first few hours of our visit putting up the blind again as there was no one there to help and we couldn’t leave the window exposed. The en-suite bathroom was in a state, with the basin completely cracked and not cleaned properly with grime in the corners. There was a sign saying cleaning happened every 3 days due to the environment. A number of the lighting fixtures were either fused and not working or the switches no longer worked. Any extractor fan for the enclosed en-suite was missing or no longer worked. There was a sauna bath pictured on the advert, upon arrival there was a sign saying it didn’t work and wasn’t part of what we paid for. The exposed holes of the sauna bath were dirty. This was not a deluxe luxury suite any longer, as they advertised and pictured. We received emailed instructions to go to breakfast at the sister hotel from 8am-10am in the morning, however there was a conflicting small note in the room that breakfast is 8am-9am - added to this, a pedantic women conducting breakfast would scold anyone if they arrived after 9am in front of other guests despite the info that was sent by hotel via email. The sister hotel had constant staff presence, cleaned daily (the environment didn’t matter anymore it seemed) and was well taken care of, and made the Langtry seem uncared for and deserted. I had the feeling the The Langtry probably was a perfect stay about 10 years ago, when it was run fully staffed.
The historic building and clean
No reception
Lovely clean room , comfy bed , fluffy towels, consistently high standard of comfort ..
Nothing to dislike
The room was very well appointed with everything you need. It was clean and spacious. Little extras like bottles of water and biscuits were lovely. It must have been a wonderfully grand hotel once.
Was dubious about there being no staff, and just a code to get in, but it was actually alright.
