The hotel is Amazing!!!!!
Beautiful! Amazing 👏
This little hotel in Franschhoek was the hight of our stay , the attention to detail was amazing , beautiful views and gardens.
Dinner not so great but breakfast is a treat , they did organize for us to eat out , was a nice touch the Sauvage restaurants offers shuttle service.
Thank you for a amazing and beautiful stay.
What a little gem this proved to be. We took a last minute decision to head into the winelands and wanted a quiet Saturday night stay in beautiful surroundings. Some research turned up 5 possibilities and this one sounded really nice and had accommodation for the night. It was just under 2 hours from home along BadenPowell drive through Stellenbosch and past Boschendal. The driveway is a long paved climbing driveway through the vines of Vrede and Lust wine estate. Our room was beautifully appointed with outside deck and outside shower in beautifully maintained gardens. We opted for a wine tasting and a cheeseboard at Vrede and Lust for lunch and returned to Angala and sampled the outside jacuzzi surrounded by beautiful water plants and lots of birds. An afternoon siesta followed by champagne on the deck of our room. The highlight of our stay had to be the spotted Genet that casually strolled across our deck, less then a metre away, paused to look at us before exiting the deck! I had thought the dinner menu was somewhat limited with a choice of either beef fillet or vegetarian with lemon butter mushrooms and the same sides as the beef. Roast potatoes carrots and broccoli. We ordered one of each and shared and they were both superb. Finished off with Tiramasu which needed a splash more alcohol! Our host Troye was extremely helpful . Altogether a superb experience hence the 5 star rating but don’t expect anything more than peace and quiet and superb surroundings!
From the moment we arrived we knew we'd found a little piece of heaven. The welcome could not have been more friendly and accommodating, the design and quality and maintenance of the buildings is immaculate. It sits in a tranquil area where the only sounds are the wind and wildlife. But the single thing that stands out the most and made our stay so special and memorable was the kindness, attentiveness, friendliness and superb service from all the staff. Even the gardeners waved a friendly "good morning" each day! Special mention needs to go to Cerene and Nicky who was absolutely superb, but the shining star was Troye. He did not miss a trick and his general knowledge and wonderfully warm personality were the best we've experienced. He's definitely found his calling in hospitality.
Angala was everything we were looking for and more and we will most definitely be back.
Thanks to everyone for giving us such a wonderful and memorable stay.
One of the most amazing hotels we have ever been to - from the moment you arrive you feel relaxed and looked after. The eco pool is incredible, as is the ozone pool and hot tub. Everything is immaculate and the views over the mountains are stunning. Could not fault it and will definitely be coming back!
The hotel is too far from anything to eat or shop and also is very hard and expensive to get transportation to go anywhere. You cannot repeat the breakfast and everything is charged apart, even the water. The reception does not work 24h and you are completely distant of anything if you need.
This family-owned boutique hotel is a hidden gem in the Winelands. The property is immaculately maintained, and the staff go above and beyond to ensure you feel welcomed and at ease. The tranquil setting, surrounded by nature, offers a natural pool (complete with frogs), a treated pool, a hot tub, and both wet and dry saunas. The gardens and balcony provide the perfect space to relax and take in the serene views. It’s wonderfully secluded, offering peace and quiet, away from any distractions.
For improvement, I’d suggest addressing the internet connectivity, which was the only letdown during our stay. However, this small issue didn’t diminish the overall experience, which was exceptional. Highly recommended for those seeking relaxation in a beautiful, private setting.
We have been there for 6 nights, and it was beautiful. Friendly and attentive staff, ecxellent breakfast as wenn as dinner menue, good wines and an exceptional environment, calm and really lovely, far away from any noise. When we compare this to the places we have been, definitely a very good experience we suggest to share. Let me highlite again the staff, that is very accommotdating which is not already adjuncted to a hotel like this. So a good place to come back.
The gardens are wonderful and beautifully maintained. Staff and service absolutely excellent. Our room was fantastic — loved the outside shower! Only negatives are: evening meal was disappointing - we ate so well at truly great restaurants nearby (fine dining at Babel, and Tokara, great pizzas at Alloroa) that out one night eating in was poor by comparison. Breakfasts were very good, though. Also, noise from building works on the estate spoiled the ambiance. Much better on Saturday when worked had stopped!
Fantastic Hotel. Beautiful and the staff were excellent. Great Food. Highly recommend visiting!
Beautiful resort. Great service and beautiful view! Breakfast and dinner were very good as well.
Well this is an odd review because the rooms are amazing. Probably one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in. But, it was advertised with a private pool, which turns out to be a plunge pool, and which is absolutely freezing cold and unusable. The mist and fog that obscured our view are to be expected in the autumn and are the reason that we booked the package with wine tasting so that we had an activity. Also the hotel boasts of its 2 pools. The pools, it turns out, are 2 small plunge areas and a nature lake that is not accessible at this time of year. We were given our vouchers for the wine tasting but told to book an external taxi to get there. We had presumed that this was an onsite facility but went on to book a taxi at our own expense. Upon arrival we were told that the wine tasting was closed that day. Our return taxi was not due for an hour so we had to pay for food and wine in the cafe which then was closing, so we waited in the rain and cold outside. We did discuss this with the staff and expected some sort of compensation, but were told that the wine tasting was just a gift. Given that this was part of our package, I can only assume that if we had not had a bed, the same excuse would have been given. This is a beautiful establishment but it needs to be sure that guests receive what they have booked.
Angala surpassed our expectations from its stunning secluded yet central location under the mountains to its beautiful rooms and absolutely delicious food. But what stood out most for me was the friendly staff and their attitude towards making our stay a memorable occasion. They went out of their way after a slight mishap occurred with a birthday cake for me and went above and beyond what would be expected. Another lucky guest got a taste of the cake but to amend for the error that occurred they upgraded us to their best suite free of charge and was very apologetic. Aubrey and his staff truelly represents south african hospitality. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Comfortable, large bedroom with fantastic amenities. The only disappointment we had was the restrictive catering options. Breakfast was acceptable but not varied. Dinner was served only at 7:30pm and there was a set three course menu each night with only one option. We felt there ought to be a choice of three per evening. The gardens, pools and rooms were stunning.
We had the best time at Angala. We arrived later on Tuesday evening and the friendly staff checked us in and then offered us the option to order a cheese plate to our room which was so convenient after a long day. Breakfast the next day was yummy and they were great about ordering a shuttle service to the wine tram as we didn’t have a car. The staff were so nice to chat to and the setting was beautiful. Highly recommend staying here!
Angala Boutique Hotel was the perfect relaxing and beautiful stop for us in Franschhoek! The rooms were large and clean and the surrounding property was stunning! The service was top notch and we were sad we didn't have time to use their beautiful spa amenities.
Fantastic - absolutely very chill. Staff were very welcoming. Ambience superb. Look forward to next visit. Thanks
A beautiful hotel in a spectacular setting a and a short drive from lots of vineyards and also the Franschhoek wine tram. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was great. Such a relaxing and luxurious stay. We would thoroughly recommend a visit.
We only stayed one night, but wish we could have stayed forever! The private cottage and entire property are absolutely gorgeous. This hotel feels like a private oasis. So cozy and gorgeous views make this hotel a must visit!
We stayed here with some friends. Excellent location. although you have to drive in to Franschhoek. The rooms are more than comfortable and give you an excellent quality sleep.
Showers are large. Only the breakfast should have a little more variety.
