Quiet area
If you are not busy and if customer asks for couple of hours late check out then you should try to accommodate. At the reception three different people gave three different check out time. Room brochure said different time. If customers comfort or request are not accommodated then definitely good reviews are not there
Friendly staff, comfortable room, nice food in the restaurant
No complaints
Le cadre est superbe
Location and hospitality we arrived very early, the staff was very helpful to accommodate us. We could already have a breakfast.
La décoration et la présence d un bar et d’une salle de restaurant
Le bruit dans les chambres voisines
The cleanliness. The decor. The comfort. The value for money. Teds cafe breakfast. The cosy Dore Bar.
Close access to a lovely walk straight into town by the River Dore..
20 mins walk to town was fine for us but some people might find it too long
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, die Bar ist sehr schön und finden sich auch Locals zum abendlichen Bier ein und die Einrichtung generell war sehr ästhetisch.
Beautifully decorated hotel with practical rooms.
Rooms and bathroom are a really good size. Bus in to town €2 with the stop just a few minutes if that down the road.
Good WiFi and good breakfast buffet options. Staff very friendly and helpful and a large carport. Opposit the hospital for those in need to stay close to one.
Its a little further out of town but you know this when booking. Approx 20 min walk. Taxi costs between €9 to €13.
Location is a little too far to walk to city center for the main visitor attractions; hotel room was relatively roomy (especially compared to other Irish hotels); no lift though, so beware. They have a luggage lift, but no human lift. Check out was easy, just needed help with luggage and using the lift. Breakfast cafe was busy and food was okay. They ran out of things for the breakfast buffet.
No lift and location was just a little too far for walking to center city.
I would not recommend staying here.
Before arrival, I called the hotel to confirm that we would have a twin room, but despite this, we were given a double. This meant I had to share a bed with my mother, which was extremely uncomfortable and not what we had booked or confirmed.
This was particularly disappointing as it was the final night of our trip round Ireland and we had specifically spent extra money to stay in the boutique hotel, hoping for a comfortable and restful end to our trip.
The most concerning part of our stay was the hotel’s handling of a fire outside the building. Bushes against the hotel somehow caught fire, despite it having rained for most of our trip. The fire alarms sounded and we evacuated, only to be stopped midway by a member of staff who told us it was fine to return to our room — despite the alarm sounding again.
We headed back to our room, only for the alarm to go off yet again and everyone to evacuate a second time. Shockingly, it appeared staff had only just called the fire brigade at that point. Around 45 minutes passed from when smoke was clearly noticeable to when emergency services arrived.
There was no clear communication from staff, nobody ensuring guests evacuated safely or checking everyone was accounted for, and no reassurance or updates throughout the incident. At one point, other guests were even helping themselves to the bar while staff seemed absent.
The fire brigade eventually arrived and dealt with the situation, but the whole experience felt chaotic and unsafe. As this happened on the final night of our stay, when we had hoped to get some rest before travelling home, we ended up getting very little sleep and left feeling extremely disappointed and concerned by the lack of safety procedures. For a boutique hotel we paid extra for, the experience fell far below expectations. I would not stay here again.
This hotel is fine overall but the term "boutique hotel" is totally irrelevant as this is just one more classical and boring Irish hotel as there are hundreds in Ireland.
The reception area and bar decor.
The only " boutique " feeling in the hotel was the reception area. Our room was so basic, I expected a cozy warm feeling... unfortunately not. Wanted to enjoy a couple of drinks and a bar meal but one guys at the bar ruined that idea... he'd obviously had too much to drink, sitting at the bar and talking on his cell phone so the whole bar could hear him. The bar staff sadly said nothing to him. I should have looked into the location more thoroughly... wasn't walking distance to any bars, restaurants, shops.
Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of everything.
The room was too warm. And a little noisy at night.
