The lady behind the bar who checked us in my very helpful, great price for one night
I had a really disappointing experience staying at Thomas James Hotel in Leamington Spa. The staff were extremely unprofessional, with very poor manners, which made the whole stay uncomfortable.
We only stayed for one night and didn’t even have breakfast despite it being included. When we returned to the hotel around 1:30am, we were being quiet. Although I had a single room, my friends had left some belongings there earlier and came back briefly to collect them.
Within minutes of us entering the room, the hotel manager started aggressively banging on the door, claiming we were causing a serious hazard. We calmly explained that my friends would be leaving within 10 minutes, but she returned again, banging on the door and demanding they leave immediately.
To make matters worse, when we were leaving, there were several people from the pub gathered on the stairs, which itself felt like a fire hazard. They were also intimidating and unpleasant towards us for no reason.
Throughout the night, there was constant noise—doors slamming and loud banging—which made it very difficult to sleep. Overall, it was a terrible experience. The manager was extremely rude and even swore at us, despite us trying to apologise and explain the situation.
I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel, especially if you’re a young person or a couple looking for a comfortable and respectful stay.
The rooms were warm and clean, with tea making facilities. Not expensive
The hotel needs re-carpeting and redecorating. The pub bar wasn't somewhere I'd want to use.
The location was great for the stay
Rooms dated & tired looking
Everywhere could do with a tidy carpets rooms etc
Was told on arrival that there wasn't a chef for the cooked breakfast so was offered continental instead
Spit and sawdust just as priced
Loved it all
Friendly and cleanliness good
cold coming from the window and the heating did not turn on. and a curtain turned off and did not touch the street light
Very good shower although the cubicle was small. Bed was comfortable.
Having to enter and check in via the pub, people smoking just outside the narrow door made it awkward to get in with suitcases. Too many stairs! Shabby carpets in communal areas and noisy - despite being on third floor I could hear the karaoke word for word in the pub below
The staff was helpful and friendly.
Very unclean.
Bathroom lights didn't work and the fan was on all night.
Loud music on until late hours.
Breakfast wasn't served early enough.
The position.
Chair that I would not sit in because the covering peeling off.
Blood on the duvet cover.
Mould in the shower.
Hand basin soap dispenser not working.
Carpet dirty.
Vanity Mirror light not working.
My room overlooked Bath Street and a number of inebriated men were shouting and singing in the street until the early hours of Sunday morning, so I didn't sleep well.
Mattress was beyond being accessible.
Damp stains on ceiling and walls
