Great stay at Casa Ordonez!
Pros:

We spent two nights in Cuenca to visit one of our workers and while there stayed in the Casa Ordonez. We stayed there because the reviews were so good. We were impressed by the friendliness of the owner and his staff. They were quick to meet all our needs, put us in a better room the second night, arranged tours for us and we just appreciated them so much. Breakfast was very good and different every day!

Grand hotel in the heart of old town
Pros:

This is a wonderful hotel with great service in the heart of old town but off the main street, thus avoiding the street noise.

The owner, Alberto, is a wonderful man who had lived in the USA and returned to this family property to turn it into a hotel.

The rooms are historic just as the building but very comfortable.

The location is quite walkable to many of the historic sites, museums, and restaurants.

I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Perfect hotel in all areas
Pros:

100% recommend staying here! We were greeted by the warm and friendly Alberto, who explained that this hotel was a family home at one point- very beautiful and well maintained with pride. It has so much character. During our 5 day stay, Alberto and all staff members were ultra helpful and charming. Alberto helped us arrange transportation to Vilcabamba and recommended things to do in Cuenca. I never expect people in other countries to speak English to us, but Alberto has perfect English, which is a nice bonus!
Location is perfect- about a 5 minute walk to Parque Calderon and the bustling city center. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby so you can take your pick with any type of cuisine.
Our room had a private bathroom and was spacious.
Breakfast each morning was prepared fresh with varying items from day to day. One morning is French toast and fruit, the next is avocado toast and eggs. We were always pleasantly surprised!!
I cannot complain about one thing. If you are still debating which hotel for your Cuenca stay, you should choose this one.

Pros:

My brother and I very much enjoyed our stay at Casa Ordonez. It is centrally located in the historical district amidst all the sights.
Our room was large, clean and spacious. The staff was attentive, courteous, and the breakfasts were very good.
The only minor drawback is that that our room named, Isabel, had an interior view rather than a street view so it may feel a bit claustrophobic to some guests. Still, I highly recommend Casa Ordonez for visitors to the city of Cuenca!!

One of those few memorable hotel stays
Pros:

This place has a unique charm that made us feel at home and also taken back in time. The care that the Ordonez family has taken to maintain a past-era Ecuadorian house built with an old Spanish design is tremendous. The house has been restored in a classic vintage. The 1890s house still has some original era doors and other features. For those features that are gone, the Ordonez family has done a remarkable job of getting replicas from the same era. The furniture, too, brings one back in time. Few hotels have a unique and extraordinary character that inspires a guest who walks in. This hotel is one of the few I’ve experienced. In addition, Alberto and the rest of the staff were extremely welcoming, making us feel at ease. They helped us in advising on tours, transportation, festivals, etc. They have great advice that helped us arrange affordable visits in Cuenca and the area. One of the other great aspects of this hotel is the location, right in the historical center of Cuenca, and only two blocks from the main square with the historical cathedrals. The location is ideal. Finally, the value of the hotel is outstanding. In other countries, this hotel would be very expensive. Yet this hotel, which has a “hostal” sign in front, is priced like a hostel yet has the ambiance and feeling of a high-end luxury boutique hotel. We extended our stay in Casa Ordonez and Cuenca because we so enjoyed the stay in both the lovely city and the lovely hotel.

Centrally located
Pros:

It’s historic and though it could use an upgrade or two, it would take away from the history and so I would recommend it leave everything the way it is. It’s a nice experience and would recommend it without reservation

Our favourite hotel in Ecuador
Pros:

A beautiful old hotel that has been updated with modern conveniences. Very close to the main square, the new Cathedral, etc. The interior courtyard is a lovely place to have breakfast, and their is a couple comfortable lounge upstairs. The staff are very helpful, and the breakfasts delicious. We have already recommended this hotel to friends who will stay here.
